Page 67 of Corrupted Pleasure
Garrett had called me eighteen times and sent me way too many messages. He didn’t call me that much during the entire time we’d dated. I hadn’t replied to a single message. He also went off on a rampage about the surveillance, accusing me of some voodoo shit. Then he threatened to go to the police and explain to them that the four of us had come into his home without permission. The truth was he had nothing on us. Thanks to Wynter’s friend. So, I kept ignoring him. A single word could be used against us and I wouldn’t give him that ammunition.
Thank God it wasn’t Garrett this time. I slid open the message from Liam. One short message.
*Call me or you’ll earn yourself a punishment.*
Instantly, my cheeks flamed and my heart stilled and a delightful shudder ghosted down my spine. God, was it bad that I kind of looked forward to it too? Each time I thought about him, my pulse drifted between my legs, invaded my senses and made the corners of my mind fuzzy, lust overtaking all my reason.
I had been thinking about Liam a lot. He had been wanting to see me for the past three days. Except I was busy preparing for a heist… sort of. Of course, that was not a good excuse. The right excuse was that I had to study for my finals and since he knew Juliette and Wynter studied for their finals too, he bought it.
I had to admit, a smug satisfaction about being able to deceive the head of the Brennan mafia grew inside me. Not exactly something to be proud of, but fuck it. I was really proud of it.
“Yes, it’s Garrett.” I lied.
The four of us sat in silence, our eyes watching a parade of rich men dressed in tuxedos and women in glittering dresses climb up the black marble front steps leading up to the lobby of the large casino.
“Okay, let’s do this.” I reached for the door handle. “Remember your positions. If we see someone from management circling the table, we need to distract them.” My eyes lock on Ivy and Juliette. “In any way possible.”
The two grinned dumbly. “As long as he’s hot,” they responded in unison.
God knew my distraction at the Eastside was hot.Don’t think about the Irish devil now, I scolded myself.
“If we spot Franco DiLustro, we are postponing this mission,” Wynter announced. I agreed with her, because if he was like his brother, there’d be hell to pay.
Juliette and Ivy just rolled their eyes. “Are we clear?” I chimed in sternly. Those two needed an ass whooping.
“Yes, yes, yes,” the two muttered, annoyingly.
Those two would land us in major shit one of these days. Though I had no room to talk since I landed us in shit to begin with, and kind of kick-started our criminal career.
Getting out of the Jeep, we sauntered through the parking lot, seemingly confident.
“What if we got this all wrong?” Wynter asked under her breath. “If Franco DiLustro owns this casino, we should stay clear. Uncle would fucking kill us if he knew that we purposely went into a building owned by a DiLustro.”
“He’ll never find out,” Ivy replied. “So let’s not stress over nonsense.”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s DiLustro or another Italian that owns it,” Juliette added.
“I don’t like this,” Wynter mumbled begrudgingly.
“The top dog owns it, so we fucking take it from him. And if we need to, we kill him,” Juliette answered self-satisfied. “One less DiLustro in the world. We’ll do society a favor.”
Wynter almost tripped.
“What is it with you and killing people lately?” she hissed, her eyes glaring at her cousin. “We are not killers and you fucking know it.”
“Yet,” Juliette added coolly.
“We should find a casino that belongs to someone lower in the food chain,” Wynter grumbled. “Definitely one that has no connections to DiLustro.”
Juliette shrugged. “This guy would have the most money.”
“DiLustros are lethal,” Wynter snapped, then realizing what she said, she quickly added. “Their sons might be more lenient but the older ones are dangerous. We know that much, Juliette.”
“We covered all scenarios and prepared for this,” Ivy chimed in, attempting to calm both of them down. “You focus on the poker game. We’ll worry about security.” Ivy’s eyes traveled between us all.
Wynter didn’t seem comforted by that notion.
“Should we stop?” I asked, adrenaline pumping through my veins. “It’s not too late.”
