Page 102 of Corrupted Pleasure
“Shit.” Juliette and Ivy cursed at the same time.
“Maybe you stay here and hide,” Wynter recommended. “It’s not like they check the dorms.”
“Or we stay at your dad’s?” I suggested lamely. “M-maybe he’d let us all stay there.”
“I don’t want to go to Uncle Liam’s before I have to,” Wynter protested. If she finally got involved with someone, I’d understand that. This place gave us all more freedom. Though I hadn’t expected the first protest to come from her.
“What if Ivy and I came along?” I tried, feeling like the biggest cheat. “I don’t have a place lined up, considering… ummm…” I cleared my throat uncomfortably. “Well, considering recent events.”
A heartbeat of silence and then the girls nodded their heads in agreement.
“That’s actually a good idea,” Ivy chimed in and I silently sighed in relief. “You think your dad would let us all stay there?”
“I’m going to wait before I join you,” Wynter chimed in. “It’s easier for me to practice and train here.”
Juliette snorted. “Yeah, you’re training alright, but it ain’t ice skating.”
Ivy burst into a loud laugh, falling over onto the floor. Juliette’s eyes gleamed with laughter but she managed to keep a straight face.
“It’s probably good that you can stay here longer, Wynter,” I returned the topic to the matter at hand. Their eyes snapped to me. “So we have an excuse to leave when we go rob the next place. We need to get it done before you move out of here and we have to figure out what to do with all the cash we’ve stolen.”
“Look at you, woman,” Juliette beamed. “Finally coming to the dark side. I’m so proud of our newly minted little criminal.”
I rolled my eyes but a stupid grin played around my lips.
“We definitely don’t want to take the money back to Uncle’s house,” Wynter mused. “Besides, we have a bit extra in that bag now. He’d consider it his interest and take it back as his repayment.”
Juliette snickered. “We can’t let that happen. It’s our money.”
“Well, technically-” I started and everyone groaned. “Fine, it’s ours. All of it!”
Now we just had to hide it until we could figure out how to go about starting this business.
Assuming we managed to stay alive.
CHAPTER42
Davina
Packing is a bitch.
Packing while cranky and listening to Juliette’s moaning about having to go live in Liam’s luxurious home was a double bitch.
“What is your problem?” Wynter finally snapped, narrowing her eyes on Juliette. “You haven’t stopped complaining since we got that notice.”
Juliette glared back at her cousin. “Easy for you to say,” she sneered. “You have another few weeks here.”
“As soon as I’m done, I’ll join you,” she told her. “Besides, you already said you’ll come to California with me, if that’s what you’re worried about. There is plenty of room for all of us there.”
“I’m coming too then,” Ivy announced. “It’s better than going back to Ireland. Besides, you need my help with the next heist.”
Juliette nodded eagerly. There’d be no going to California for me. I was married now, and my grandfather would be here.
“I’ll visit y’all,” I promised.
“I wish you were coming with us too,” Wynter and Juliette complained. “So we can all stay together.”
“I wish so too,” I told them. “But I found a way for my grandfather to be put in a facility here. So I want to stay here, close to him. And before you ask, I’m not moving him to California. I don’t want to move him twice. This time will be hard enough on him.”
