Page 66 of Corrupted Pleasure
“Are we sure about this?” I asked, my eyes traveling to Wynter seated in the driver's seat and then to the backseat where Juliette and Ivy sat.
“Yes!” Juliette confirmed. “We’ve come too far to give up.”
“Let’s just get this over with,” Wynter muttered. “Davina, can you share the layout of the casino again?”
Juliette and Ivy treated this as a game. I didn’t. I had no desire to find myself or them in a similar situation as I had in the Eastside Club. Yes, the orgasms were great, but I reached my limit on the number of men I had to be available to whenever and wherever they demanded. One was more than plenty.
And Liam Brennan isn’t the sharing type, I reminded myself.
“The high stakes poker rooms are on the second floor. But we want to stay away from those.” Wynter nodded in agreement. Juliette and Ivy preferred we go all in but it made it easier to be caught. Those rooms are secured and locked during the games so it’d leave the person at the poker table vulnerable. “The first floor is where we want to be,” I stated matter-of-factly. “We’ll pass the slot machines. Then there are roulette tables behind them. The open poker tables are at the far end of the room on the first floor.”
“Do you have the oil in your purse?” Juliette asked. “Are you sure they won’t search our bags upon entrance?”
It was our escape method. If shit hit the fan, I’d dump the oil all over the floor and people would start sliding all around as we ran out of there.
“It's lavender oil,” I reasoned. “They’ll think it’s for a massage or some shit like that.”
“The special kind of massage,” Ivy smirked.
I rolled my eyes. “Focus on the task at hand, you two,” I scolded them. “The important question is whether it’s smart that Juliette sits at the poker table. She’s the worst at math and her memory just sucks.”
“She’s an airhead,” Ivy teased goodheartedly.
“Hey,” Juliette protested. “I’m right here, you know.”
“We have to play to our strengths,” I comforted Juliette, patting her hand. “You’ll lose the money we stole from your dad. We are trying to get more. Think about our plan. We came to win and increase our stash of money.”
At least Juliette didn’t outright disagree. She actually seemed to be considering my words seriously.
“We should have Wynter sit at the poker table,” I added firmly.
Wynter learned to play poker really well. It was a game she grew up playing with her mother, uncle and grandfather, and she had yet to lose a single game against anyone for as long as I’ve known her. Nobody at the university ever wanted to play poker with her because she’d always win. And strip poker was no fun when you’re naked and she was still fully clothed.
“I agree,” Ivy chimed. “Wynter is great with numbers. Davina is good, too, but I think Wynter would do better with it. Especially if it comes down to counting cards. She is basically unbeatable at Yale.”
“Okay then. What do I do?” Juliette demanded to know.
Wynter and I shared glances. “We’d just swap your and Wynter’s role. She plays and you keep an eye out.”
Wynter was a strong player. Juliette, on the other hand, was never interested in poker.
“Like we talked about last night, the three of us will keep an eye out,” I announced. “Any member of the staff that we notice approaching, we’ll distract them. By any means necessary.”
“I’m a bit nervous,” Ivy admitted.
“We just stick to the plan,” I told her. “And we watch each other’s backs and blend in.”
“We’re dressed appropriately for the casino,” Juliette added. “There should be no issue blending in.”
I thought we looked good. Wynter wore a long, sleeveless red dress with a deep neckline and slits that came up to her thighs on both sides. Her back was bare, giving people a glimpse of her ivory skin. Her bun made her look slightly older with her curly golden strands framing her face. Her fake ID identified her as a twenty-three-year-old, and with her current appearance, she looked it.
I wore a sheer black, long dress that showed my skin and undergarments when the light hit it just right. Ivy wore an off white short dress, claiming that a long dress would make her appear too short. I called bull because I was the shortest one in the group. But it was Juliette that dressed the most provocatively. She wore a short, midnight blue dress that barely covered her ass and hugged her curves just right. She must have realized her mistake in wearing such a short dress, because I caught her tugging the hemline down a couple of times. Though it was a perfect dress to distract.
“Don’t forget about the inside cameras,” Wynter warned. “Keep your faces low, and keep a keen eye.”
A cell phone buzzed and all four of us reached for our phones. It was mine.
“Don’t tell me it’s Garrett again?” Juliette groaned.
