Page 56 of Corrupted Pleasure
As my reason came back, so did my doubts. Why did he want me? I was certain with his looks, obvious stamina, and knowledge of how to give incredible pleasure to a woman and let’s not forget his wealth, he had no shortage of partners.
“Why do you all need the money?” he asked and my spine stiffened.
I couldn’t answer that one truthfully. Not without giving him more ammunition against me. I was solely responsible for getting us into this situation. If I hadn’t uttered those stupid words to Juliette, she would have never even thought to burn down the house.
His big palm roamed my back, and I found my tension at his question was slowly draining away. This man had dangerous control over my body. Even worse was that I didn’t exactly mind it. Except I couldn’t share these secrets with him.
I pressed my lips together, all the while my muscles relaxed under his palm that rubbed my back. Up and down. Left and right.
“Is it about Juliette’s car?” he asked softly, but I wasn’t fooled. He was fishing for information, hoping that under the bliss of his touch, I’d tell him everything.
“Yeah,” I murmured, my lips brushing against the skin on his neck. It was better to lie to him without looking into his eyes. “A car for all four of us,” I added, lying shamelessly. “Juliette agreed to take lessons once we get the cars.”
“Juliette is a horrible driver,” he commented. “She cannot drive until she passes driving school.”
He was right about that. Juliette was the worst driver I had ever seen or ridden with. Nobody dared to sit in the car with her after experiencing her driving and be lucky enough to escape unscathed.
“I should take that money so that doesn’t happen.”
Fuck! And this was the reason I didn’t lie.
“You can’t take it back,” I protested weakly. “Otherwise, I won’t be available to you whenever you want.”
He chuckled. “You’re brave.”
More like stupid.
But I had a lot more to lose if Garrett didn’t get his money. All four of us did. We’d end up behind bars. And we couldn’t count on Wynter’s friend successfully handling it all.
CHAPTER23
Liam
The moment she disappeared from my view into her dorm, I dialed Quinn.
“Boss,” he answered. It never mattered what time of day or night it was, he always answered. It was the reason he has been my right hand man for decades.
“I need you to send me candidates best suited for tailing,” I ordered.
“Who are we following?”
“Davina and the girls.” A chuckle filled the line.
“Those girls are trouble, I tell you. All four of them.”
“I’m aware,” I responded dryly. Though Davina was a whole different kind of trouble, the kind that might be dangerous for my heart. “For now, I just want candidates. How are your hacking skills these days, Quinn?”
“Aye, not that great,” he muttered. “I’m getting too old to keep up with technology.”
“Old arse,” I joked.
“Your arse is not far behind me, Boss,” he pointed out. Unfortunately, he was right.
“We’ll have to find someone we can trust,” I said. “Killian will be out of pocket for a bit. And there are certain things he can’t do for me.”
“I’m guessing you’ll want to track the girls and Killian would be against it.”
“Or he’ll give a heads up to Wynter and Juliette,” I added. Killian was close to them and always felt extremely protective.
