Nickolas
Nickolas was making his way to the boardroom and caught sight of the most stunning redheaded omega, just before the door to the room the man was in shut, blocking him from view. In that second, the image of him was stamped in his memory forever. Flaming red hair that looked like it would burn at a touch, it was a mix of copper, auburn and varying shades of red, that contrasted beautifully with the white creamy tone of his skin reminding him of whipped milk. Nickolas didn’t miss the luscious pink pouty lips caught between the young man’s teeth as he focused on pouring the coffee from the carafe into a thermal jug.
A powerful wave of lust assailed Nickolas. He always had tight reign over his libido and was surprised by the heady rush of blood to his groin. He was taken aback at the instant arousal for some unknown omega he’d only gotten a glimpse of in passing, and had to assume it was a reminder that he’d been neglecting his needs while closing the deal he was currently working on. Still, the surge of arousal annoyed him. He probably just needed an omega or beta to quench his needs.
He was seated in the meeting, ignoring the negotiation taking place around the conference table. Nickolas couldn’t help thinking back to the bewitching omega. What was it about him that had drawn his attention? Omegas were a dime a dozen. So why had that one made him stop in his tracks? He let his lawyers battle out the negotiations while trying to decipher why some random omega had grasped his attention so completely from such a brief sighting.
He was lost in thought when the door opening drew his attention. He was transfixed. It was him, the red-headed enchanter. The omega made his way from one side of the table, serving coffee and treats, all the way to the head where Nickolas was seated, giving Nickolas time to study him intently, without being noticed. He’d been bored in the meeting, having given his lawyer instructions on how to proceed, but his boredom fled at the sight before him.
He wondered how he’d overlooked such a beautiful creature in his employment. Who was he, and what department did he work for? Nickolas had to know. Looking at him, he set those thoughts aside for the time being. He took in the omega who was decidedly pocket-sized in the height department, compared to himself. He had a gorgeous face, and up close, he noted the cute smattering of freckles, that were begging to be kissed, one by one. His eyes the color of purest emeralds.
The omega set his coffee in front of him, and Nickolas couldn’t miss the way his hands shook, so Nickolas put out his own to steady it. His excuse being he was making sure an accident didn’t occur when in truth he wanted to feel the smoothness of that pure alabaster skin.
“Be careful,” Nickolas warned.
He only had the contact for a second, but it was enough for the scent to fill his nostrils. Making him hot and hard in no time flat. Nickolas couldn’t help but notice that the omega refused to make eye contact, and he could swear he was barely breathing. Nickolas couldn’t help but imagine tugging him down into his lap and running his tongue over all that pristine skin. The erotic imagery did nothing to lessen the hard-on in his pants.
Nickolas called on his self-control, wiping the image from his mind with the sheer force of his will. Instead of doing what he wanted, which involved the stunning omega laid out naked on the conference table, he took a sip of the coffee placed in front of him, even though he had no need for it. He couldn’t help but curse the fact that the arousal the omega had wrought on his body refused to abate.
He tried not to stare at the omega as he backed away. Deciding to join in the negotiations hoping to bring them to a speedy close. The opposing lawyers did their best to draw out negotiating, hoping to make him increase his offer, but Nickolas knew the other company needed to sell quickly, or risk filing for bankruptcy.
The enchanting omega did his best to go unnoticed, but unfortunately, his nervousness got the best of him, while serving one of the last staff members who didn’t put out a steadying hand as Nickolas had. Nickolas who’d been watching the omega surreptitiously, saw the accident happen, but he was too far away to stop it.
The coffee cup in the omega’s hands pitched forward, spilling on the contracts on the table. All eyes in the room turned to Nickolas waiting for his reaction, as he was known to not suffer fools. One of the Alpha lawyers angrily hissed, “How could you be so incredibly inept?”
“Oh my God. Oh my God. I’m so sorry,” the omega gasped, staring at the ruined papers in dismay.
“These copies are ruined, we have to print another set.” The man snapped.
Nickolas was pissed at his time being wasted, but he was even more upset at how the other alphas were speaking to the omega. Which came as a surprise to him, as he was usually the first to call out a member of staff working below his exacting standards. The omega had ruined the meeting, but instead of his usual anger, Nickolas wanted to soothe the horrified and terrified look on the young man’s face.
“I’m so sorry, sir.” The omega kept repeating while trying to back away from the scene of the disaster. Nickolas didn’t miss the way the omega tried to make his escape, while people scrambled to sort out the mess he had created. But before he could make his escape, Nickolas asked, “And your name is?” Stopping the omega in his tracks, like a startled gazelle, in the presence of a predator about to attack. He could see the war behind the omega’s eyes, flee or play dead?
“Jaimie Knox, sir,” he said before making a hasty exit.
“Jaimie Knox,” Nickolas repeated, too low for anyone to hear, a beautiful name for an enchanting, if accident-prone omega.
