Page 57 of Chasing Savannah
He grinned. He didn’t care where she slept, he would be wherever she was. He shut down the apartment, locking the door and turning out the lights. He took a quick shower to give her time to settle. By the time he came out, the guest room was dark.
Savannah wasn’t sleep, with his heightened senses, her heartbeat was easy to discern. He went to the door and watched her. Her eyes were shut tight as she pretended to sleep. Silly woman.
He climbed under the covers behind her. She sighed, not surprised, but her wariness was apparent.
“I’m not here to argue, love, I just want to be in bed with my mate.” He rubbed his cheek against the top of her head.
“Carlos, you can’t keep calling me your mate.”
He snuggled in behind her. “You smell amazing,” he said, instead of arguing.
He wrapped his arms around her, pressing against her stomach, to push her back into his hips.
“You can’t just seduce me into being your mate.”
He hummed, nibbling on the back of her neck, ignoring her statement. “I can’t wait to bite you here.”
She’d find out soon enough that he usually got what he wanted, and by the time he was done she’d surely want him as much as he wanted her.
“Carlos.” She protested.
“Do you know what the bites mean?” He asked, running his tongue across her skin.
She shook her head.
He was glad she couldn’t see his smug smile. “Derrick and I will each bite you.”
His teeth gripped the back of her neck and her body trembled, her breath hissing out in a hard pant. His panther pushed against his skin. He was moments from biting down.
He released her skin. “The bite in the back, is in the same spot a cat in the wild would grab their cub to carry them around. It symbolizes our promise to nurture and take care of you.” He traced the front of her neck along her trachea. “We bite here, to show dominance, and exact your promise to submit to your mates. Do you know the amount of trust needed between mates to allow a bite so dangerous?”
He wanted to push the issue, but his mate’s heart was pounding, her arousal scenting the space between them. He stuck out his tongue, tasting her need in the air. He groaned and hugged her closer.
“Now, rest. You have work in the morning.” He turned her chin towards him. “Goodnight,” he whispered, sealing their lips together.
She pulled back. “You’re not going to…”
“Push, no. I told you I wouldn’t. I promised our mate I’d behave, remember?”
He kissed her again and settled behind her, smiling at her disgruntled tone. There just might be something to Derrick’s way. He’d wear his mate down, no matter how long it took.
