Page 42 of Chasing Savannah
He needed to start the bond with their mate and it needed to be done before they entered the prowl meeting. It was urgent that they did so. The seer had been right in that he had a small trace of psychic power passed down to him. He’d used it to guide his life, and he never put aside any visions he had. Those same visions that told him Carlos was his future when he met him, was urging him to put some type of claim on Savannah. It would be important for them to go into the meeting with their mating bond started.
He looked to Carlos to convey that. When Carlos lifted from their mate's kiss, his eyes were glazed with lust. Derrick let his canines drop to broadcast his intention. The Felix's eyes burned with need and in an unspoken agreement he leaned down to their mate and Derrick followed his lead.
He allowed the Alpha first bite before he nipped Savi just hard enough to break skin and leave a mark. He lapped at the small drop of blood, not enough for a mating bond, but enough to initiate a claim on her and show the panthers in the prowl their intentions. All the same, the beginning tugs of what they could have, snapped into place and power raised down their prowl link. It flooded his body and his cat turned in circles. Fur sprouted along his arm and disappeared as his panther celebrated. Her lust, confusion and worry bombarded him, but so did a tide of calm. It soothed his cat, even as the panther prowled his body begging for a chance to come out. With her being latent, he wondered if she would understand the mark.
She jerked back with a gasp and shoved away from them both. “Did you two really just bite me without permission?”
“I’m sorry, that was really rude. I got carried away.” He rushed to placate her.
Her dark eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Do you usually mark women before you ask them out?”
So she didn’t quite understand what was happening. He had a feeling if she had, there would’ve been hell to pay.
He leaned down and nibbled along her lips. “I’ve never so much as rubbed my scent on any woman, never mind a woman I wasn’t dating.” He assured her.
Carlos rubbed his cheek against the top of her head. “From the moment I saw you, other women ceased to exist.”
Her eyes softened and her sigh pushed air across his lips before she kissed him softly. “That was so sweet.” She whispered.
He used his fangs to cut into his tongue a little. Grabbing her head, he kissed her, slipping his tongue into her mouth, feeding her a small drop of his blood. He was pushing his luck, he knew, but he wanted a connection with her, even if it would only last a few days. Power surged, his dick hardened and he growled low in his throat.
He spun her around and Carlos did the same. The bond tightened, and he felt the cats up and down the link, proof that the link with the Felix was initiated. Derrick rubbed his head along the top of hers, reveling in her scent and in the tentative bond formed between the three of them. If not nurtured, the bond would fade in a few days, he planned to be bonded to their mate before it faded.
“Try to get some more sleep.” Carlos told her. “You can use my bed if you want.”
Derrick pushed down on his cat before he snatched Savannah and took her to that bed. Her eyes were dazed, her lips wet from their kisses. Her arousal spiked, scenting the air and Derrick forced himself to move back. His cat wanted to bond them, now. He was in agreement, anything that ended with him inside his mate as she clawed his back, he was up for. It wouldn’t happen until they talked and explained everything to her, so he needed to back up just a little further. Especially if she continued to lick her lips with that lust filled gaze.
“I don’t think sleeping in your bed is a good idea,” she whispered.
Carlos rubbed against her neck and smiled. “Your choice,” he said and let her go. “The guest room is next to Ella’s.”
Derrick said nothing as she passed him and headed down the hallway towards the bedrooms.
“I need you to drag me out of here, Beta, or I’m headed in there to fuck our mate.” Carlos growled, his voice deep with his panther.
Shit, if the Felix was counting on him, they were screwed. Luckily, Carlos’ phone rang again. He sighed.
“I’m coming.” Carlos barked into the phone and stuffed it back into his pocket.
Derrick gave one last lingering look to the direction in which his mate had disappeared. Yeah, they would be having that talk when they returned.
