Page 43 of Two Daddies for Little Jenna

I was glad she was comfortable showing her Littlest side to Nick. She was smiling up at me as I powdered her privates, occasionally looking at Nick to make sure he was still watching, which he was with much enthusiasm.

When I fetched her a new diaper, she shook her head and closed her legs.

"I want to wear one of those new cloth ones you gifted me."

Since she adored Nick's gift, I had decided to gift her some more cloth ones. They weren't designer, but they had her favorite themes like superheroes and animals.

"But you told me you don't prefer them as much since you can't feel them crinkle between your legs when you crawl."

"I do like them now."

People changed all the time. Her fondness for cloth diapers was linked to her fondness for Nick. It was like the time when she hated berries, but soon they were all she wanted just because they were my favorite.

"You know what," I said with a smile and stepped aside. "Why don't you do the rest, Nick? I know you haven't diapered a girl in a while."

Time's arrow moved forward and who was I to step in its way? Change was supposed to be scary and I was to fear the change in my sweet girl's preferences. But if it made her happy, I was happy too.

Nick gladly took my position, going over the range of colorful diapers I fetched him. Finally, he decided to go with the one with little bears on them. I knew she'd like it the moment I had come across it online. Just as I'd hoped, it reminded her of Teddy.

"Now if only you'd stop moving so much." He tried sliding it under her, but she was too excited to lay still.

Could I really blame her? She was sharing her most private moment with the two people who cared about her the most.

"Not gonna happen," she said around the thumb in her mouth. "Too excited."

"I've got this." I stepped up next to him, locking her feet with both hands and raising them in the air.

With a thanking nod, he slipped the diaper on her and then dressed her back up.

"All done! Who's ready to help Daddy make dinner?"

She helped me every day by being a good girl while I cooked. Being able to concentrate on cooking was all the help I needed. But now that Nick was here, he could watch over her.

It was meant to be one of the happiest days of her life. If everything turned out well, she'd remember it for the rest of her life. Which was why I decided to skip vegetables altogether and go with her favorite, meatloaf with Mac and cheese.

"It’s delicious, isn’t it?" She asked, smacking her lips and taking a sip of soda. "Daddy cooks so well and you're good at dressing me up. Ah, I'm living every Little's wet dream. Think I'm gonna go for a third serving."

"Don't even think about it," I warned when she eyed the Mac and cheese. "You tend to eat too much when you're happy. Remember what happened the last time you ate too much at the all-you-can-eat buffet? Why don't you tell Nick?"

She closed her eyes and shivered, the mere memory causing her to shudder in fear. "Against our Daddies' wishes, Michael and I dared each other who could eat the most. Long story short, we ate enough food to feed a small village. My tummy was on the brink of an explosion. I kept waking Daddy up all night because I felt I might throw up."

"And?" I said. "Aren't you missing something?"

She opened her eyes and sighed, hesitating a bit before continuing. "And I would've eaten the exact same amount had Michael not challenged me. I was just happy that the place was owned by a Daddy and there were other Littles around. So yes, I overeat when I'm happy and excited. Now that we've got that out of our way, can we make an exception just this once? I won't have a sleepless night this time. Promise!"

"Your Daddy's right, sweet bunny." He stroked a hand over her head. "I know you're very happy that I'm here, but there are other ways to use that excitement. Why don't we spend an hour reading before sending you off to bed? We could go on a walk if you're still too excited."

"Fine, that's a good idea too. But I'm so excited even a book can't put me to bed. I think I want to stay up all night chatting with you two."

I stifled a laugh. Nick might believe it but I knew better. I'd been with Jenna long enough to know she couldn't last an hour of her being read to without falling asleep in the middle. The suggestion that a book couldn't put her to bed was ridiculous. It was tragic considering how much she loved being read to. However, she never lasted more than fifteen minutes.

"What's so funny, Daddy?" She crossed her arms and puffed her cheeks up. "Think I can't stay awake long enough? Want to bet? I know when I'm too excited for something."

She thought she knew herself very well, but sometimes a Daddy knew their Little even better.

"Nothing, sweetheart," I lied. "Just reminded me of the time when Michael fell asleep while being read to. You know, the time he fell off his Daddy's lap, somersaulting and screaming as he woke up in surprise."

When she crawled into her nursery to fetch a new book, I asked Nick not to mime or make funny voices. It was the only way she'd fall asleep.
