Page 32 of Two Daddies for Little Jenna

I bobbed my head up and down as my tears began to dry up. Just like Clark, Nick knew exactly what to say. It was because they were both such good Daddies.

"Now, do you want me to do your hair and makeup?"

I scrunched my face at the suggestion. "I look so good in these fancy clothes. You aren't going to make me look like a witch, are you?"

He laughed. "Why, is your Daddy that bad when he does your makeup? God, I need to see his handiwork then."

"Well, you'll likely get to see it. I'm too nice to tell him he's bad at it. I love him too much. I don't want to break his heart."

"I'll teach him a thing or two. No worries. A Mommy at the club is a celebrity makeup artist and I've learned it from her."

I closed my eyes as we sat before the mirror. I just couldn't look when Daddy put layer upon layer of thick makeup on my face. It was too painful and it would be obvious that I wasn't liking it.

It felt nice to close my eyes and feel the strength of Nick's hands as he worked on my hair first, and then on my face. It gave me goosebumps for some odd reason.

"Ta-da!" Nick exclaimed. "You can open your eyes now."

When I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe it. Unlike with Daddy's makeup, I could still recognize myself. I didn't look like a completely different girl. Instead, it just looked like my skin was naturally flawless and I didn't have any makeup on.

My hair was pulled up in cute little pigtails and there was a beautiful pink bow in it. Each part of my outfit didn't look exceptional on its own, but altogether they made me look stunning.

Standing up, I gave a twirl before the mirror and then clapped in joy.

"I love it! I've never looked so pretty." I threw my arms around him and kissed him on the cheek. "I've brought one of your books. Can you sign it and then read it to me before Daddy comes to pick me up?"

"I refuse to sign copies because I don't want Littles to see me as a celebrity, but I'll make an exception just this once. After all, how can I say no to such a sweet face?"

As he read me the book of a Little in search of a loving Daddy, I sat facing him on the floor. He made funny faces and voices as he had back at the club. It made me laugh even more this time, for he was miming the funny scenes exclusively for me. Nick truly was silly.

I considered climbing into his lap halfway through when he put a binky in my mouth since we were at a point where it just felt right. Just as I had begun to crawl towards him, I looked up at the clock behind him.

"Daddy will be here any minute, Nick," I interrupted. "He’s always on time. Thank you for everything. I had a great time."

"Oh, is it time already?" he said in disappointment as he looked at the clock. "I wish…"

"I know," I said sadly, placing a hand on his. "I wish we had more time too."

When the doorbell rang just on time, I took the book from his hand and put it in my bag.

"Daddy!" I ran and jumped into Clark's arms when Nick opened the door.

Daddy chuckled, shifting me so I was on his hip and then giving me a soft kiss. "Looks like you missed me."

"Sure did." I rested my head on his shoulder and stuck my arms out towards Nick. "I'll miss you so much, Nick."

"I'll miss you more, sweet bunny." He took my hands and caressed them.

When Nick and I just stayed there looking into each other's eyes with our hands joined, Daddy cleared his throat.

"Say your goodbyes then," Daddy said, gently nudging me with his head and stifling a laugh. "You'll see him again tomorrow at work, you know."

"I know," I breathed. "But it seems so far away."

Daddy couldn't keep it in anymore, so he barked out a laugh. "You're this way when you say goodbye to Michael too. He isn't going off to war. You know what, you can call Nick and talk to him all you want in the evening. We'll ignore the one hour per day on the phone rule just this once."

"Bye, Nick." I finally let go of his hands and made Doggo wave at him. "I'll cuddle Bunno whenever I'm thinking of you."
