"So what's the next step?" I finally broke the silence.
"Well, you can confirm if the Daddy's okay with the activities you've planned. Then you start calling the vendors and arrange the order quantity. Ask them to send me the bill. Also, look up a few projectors online and send me the links. You can do all this from your new desk at the back office, or you can work from home. I'll need you here quite early on the event day, though."
I was surprised I could already go home. The thought of working from the back office was appealing, but Nick would probably be in his office most of the time.
"Alright then," I said, leading him out of the room. "I'll ask Daddy to come pick me up. Thanks again, Nick, for everything. I was so anxious because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I feel like I've finally found something I like."
The question of where this was going remained. Since Nick seemed to like me back, the ball seemed to be in my court now. I hadn't the slightest clue what I wanted.
He walked me out and offered to wait with me till Daddy showed up, offering me a soda from the vending machine on our way.
"Daddy never lets me have sugary drinks." I took a sip and smacked my lips. "Ah, so sweet and heavenly. Why would anyone drink water when they could have this instead is beyond me.”
Nick chuckled. "I'm a strict Daddy myself, but I like to make exceptions. I don't hesitate to take Littles over my knee when they misbehave. Littles need discipline in their lives to prosper after all. Otherwise, they'd just be naughty Little brats who disrespect their Daddies."
I drew a sharp breath in at the mental image of Nick having me over his knee bottoms up. How nice it must feel to have his strong hands have his way with my bare ass. I would probably end up misbehaving just to have him spank him. This was in stark contrast with my situation with Daddy, for Daddy was all talk and no action. He threatened to spank me now and then, but they had become idle threats ever since I told him about my dark past. He didn't want to inflict pain upon me since I'd received enough for a lifetime.
"Just so you know, I'm the best-behaved girl there is," I clarified. "Daddy says that about me all the time."
"Good to know," he said with a bright smile, which slowly began to fade. "Hey, listen. All I can think right now is having to wait for days before I get to see you again. I was hoping you'd choose to work from the office. But since you didn't, I'd like to get to know you better. What are you doing tomorrow evening? I know this new drive-in theatre that's opened up nearby. I was going anyway since the owner is a member of the club and it's nice to support other Daddies. Would you… like to come with?"
"Whoa, I've never been to a drive-in theatre before, but I love films!" My eyes and mouth turned into littleOs, but then panic began to set in. "Of course, I'm happily in love with my Daddy like I said, so it wouldn't be like a date or anything."
"Of course not." He chuckled nervously. "It would be like getting to know a colleague, now that we're working together possibly."
"Ooh, can I bring my Daddy with?" I wiggled at the thought of sitting in Daddy's lap as I watched the film, but then I realized I wouldn't mind if it was Nick's lap either.
He shrugged, suddenly not seeming so excited anymore. "Sure, if that's what you want."
Something told me he was hoping it would be a date despite what he said. And maybe I secretly wanted it to be a date too.
"You know what, I won't be able to make it," I said. "Maybe some other time."
Before he could express his disappointment, Daddy's car appeared on the horizon and I waved at him. I couldn't wait to tell him all about the ideas I'd come up with for my job. He'd be so proud of me.
Chapter 9: Clark
The journey home was a quiet one. We picked up some Indian food on our way home. We both loved spicy food.
Jenna seemed agitated about something. I would normally push, but I knew she couldn't hold her worries in for much longer.
Once home, I strapped her in the highchair and pulled out the fancy divider plate. I fixed up some chicken tikka masala and Indian flatbread. I tore the flatbread into small pieces so she could eat them with her spork. She didn't like it when her hands got sticky.
I waited for her to begin, but she idly pushed the pieces of flatbread around on her plate. I hoped she'd tell me about work on our way home, but she seemed lost in her thoughts.
"So how was the first day at work?" I asked.
She was still dressed as a Big, but I could tell from the look in her eyes that she was struggling to shift into her Little space. She had to let Daddy take care of her worries to fully let go.
"Oh, yeah." She put on a forced smile. "I was so excited to tell you all about it, but I got distracted. So basically, turns out I'm really good at this, at least the planning part of it. Nick pretty much told me my ideas were brilliant. He'd like to hire me instantly but he has to wait till he receives customer feedback."
"Aw, you're speaking a mile a minute, honey." I pulled my chair back and patted my lap. "Must be something really big bothering you. Come sit in Daddy's lap and tell me all about it."
"I'm fine, Daddy," she said, unbuckling from her seat and jumping out of the highchair before climbing onto my lap and resting her head against my chest. "You worry too much. Why would something be bothering me when things went so well at work? Nick did ask me out to the drive-in theatre, but I turned him down. It wasn't a big deal or anything, and it isn't worrying me at all. He said it wasn't a date but it sure sounded like one. I did the right thing, didn't I?"
She looked so adorable looking up at me with big eyes. Half of her jitteriness had gone now that she told her Daddy what was bothering her. She knew I'd make her worries go away. I always did.
"So that's what's been bothering my sweet girl." I rubbed small circles on her back and her body instantly relaxed. "You turned Nick down and now you regret it. You wanted to go on that date, didn't you, my sweet girl?"
