I waved, “Well, it was nice to meet you Mason and Hendrick. I’ll find your diner after… some fight… I’m in… that is definitely illegal…” Mason smirked and Hendrick chuckled. Stephanie dragged me into her house.
She said, “Other than cooking you’ll have nothing to do with those freaks.” I replied, “So, I’m not sure why you think I care about your opinion… but those two men are the closest to normal people I’ve seen in this pack. So… I’ll probably talk to them the most.”
She pushed me further into her house. She waved, “This is your Uncle Ajax.” He was a Warlock. A creepy one at that. He kissed my hand, and I jerked it back. He chuckled, “Let’s not be rude to Uncle Ajax.” My heart pinged because I wanted Ajax, my brother’s wolf, not this man.
She showed me to the bathroom. I turned the water on and felt the hair on the back of my neck prickle.
There was no one here though. I got in the shower and rinsed off.
I saw an eyeball staring at me and screamed.
I poked his eye knowing it was Ajax. He screamed bloody murder.
I jumped out and pulled on what MAY have been a clean sack and ran outside.
The Alpha and Beta were there. I gasped, “He watched me shower!” The Beta raised an eyebrow. Alpha Edward asked, “Who could blame him?” I blinked, “Umm you? Everyone… with a pulse…” Aunt Stephanie came out.
She shouted, “You hurt Ajax!” I replied, “He was watching me shower so I poked him in the eye. Logically… if he wasn’t a creep… he..” She went to hit me again, but the Beta stopped her. He said, “She can report to the punishing fields later. She has a fight to get us to.” WHAT?!
He continued, “We all have money on her and while you run around doing what you want more often than you don’t, we aren’t letting you risk losing us money.
” Uh what? That was definitely illegal then.
I said, “Honestly, you saved her the broken arm I told her she’d get if she raised her hand to me again. ”
I stared at the Alpha. He asked, “What?” I questioned, “What’s the matter with you? Your wolf should be furious a non-pack member just spied on a pup’s shower. I’m even a visiting pup. That’s really bad.” He said nothing.
I continued, “You punished me for no reason and plan to do it again. It’s against all the laws and ordinances for visitors to your pack to be treated this way… You don’t make any sense. You’re standing against the blood running through your veins. So is he.” I pointed at the Beta.
Which hurt. It physically felt like it hurt my veins.
Alpha Edward warned, “You don’t know me, little girl.
” I retorted, “Of course I don’t. We never really even met, and I just got here.
I do know that most of the things since have been illegal and you’re not doing anything about it but being a bad leader. ” He glared at me.
I added, “And I know your wolf agrees with me because you didn’t growl.” Aunt Stephanie shouted, “I’ll whip you.” I asked, “For what?” She answered, “Disrespecting your Alpha.” Was she high? He wasn’t my Alpha, Peter was.
I shot back, “Supernatural Council Edit 854125 21b section five says any Alpha who does not make others respect his Luna is subject to the same kind of treatment and tolerance from the pack. You can’t whip me either, I’m not in this pack.”
She retorted, “Your Alpha gave us permission to punish you.” That hurt.
I replied, “That doesn’t mean you can whip me.
That’s for traitors and I’m not one.” She snorted, “We do things differently here.” Alpha Edward said, “You will be at the punishing fields after your fight for calling Beta Jason and Alpha Peter.”
I asked, “What? You’re saying I can’t call my brother?” Hendrick said, “Alpha, you can’t…” Alpha Edward snarled, “I can and will. You’re nothing here.” I argued, “He’s a Warrior and business owner. So, he actually is something here… which means you’re wrong…again…it’s a pattern that’s weird…”
Hendrick shot me a look. Alpha Edward said, “His business makes us money.” I reasoned, “And him.” Alpha Edward sorted, “Jean, enlighten the pup.” The Beta told me, “No, just us.” Beta Jean. Got it. I gasped, “What? That’s not fair! You can’t do that. It’s his business.”
Alpha Edward said, “Yet I do.” I was going to fix that, and I had plenty of blackmail material already to get it done. Beta Jean continued, “And he’s not a Warrior.” I hummed, “False. He’s literally a Warrior. I can sense it.”
Beta Jean explained, “No one that’s into the same sex can hold a position here.” I stared at him. Alpha Edward sneered, “We usually just say no homo’s allowed.” My jaw dropped at his incredibly offensive language.
I asked, “Would you like to know the Werewolf Supernatural Laws and Supernatural Council Laws you’re breaking? Because yes, it’s plural for both. Technically it’s five for the Werewolf and three for the Supernatural Council.”
A crowd had gathered, and people began to whisper like they didn’t know that.
Alpha Edward said, “Pup, you’re cute.” He didn’t mean it though, he was sweating and turning red.
I shrugged, “Umm ok? That’s inappropriate for you to say as a mated…
Alpha… no person… since I’m visiting and a pup…
but I’m still right and I can prove it….
so… he’s a Warrior and you’re….” A terrible Alpha. I just couldn’t say that part.
Alpha Edward growled, “Go!” Everyone bowed their heads but me. He blinked questioning, “What’s wrong with you?” I snorted, “You can’t be serious? Is he serious?” I looked around and found Caine grinning ear to ear at me.
So, Alpha Edward’s son didn’t like him. Interesting… and weird. It meant Caine was smart though. It also meant this behavior was normal. I could see why he didn’t like him. I’d be mad if anyone in our pack disrespected my mom the way his was.
Hendrick ground out, “He’s serious.” I scoffed, “He can’t be.
He asked what was wrong with me? I’m not the one breaking over twenty laws…
in like under forty eight house of being here I’ve discovered over twenty…
so… logically he’s breaking more… and he’s asking what’s wrong with ME? ! Are you for real?”
The Alpha took several steps towards me and promptly shoved me at Stephanie. He ordered, “Give her the letters.” I asked, “What letters?” Aunt Stephanie shoved me towards her car. She demanded, “Get in.” I replied, “I have zero desire to go anywhere with you.”
Alpha Edward growled, “It’s an order.” I pointed out, “Umm… you’re not my Alpha… visiting Alpha’s…” He snarled, “Can tell visiting pack members to leave the grounds.” I agreed, “That’s true… so I’ll just go to a bus stop and go somewhere else.” Anywhere was better.
He got in my face breathing heavily. He declared, “You will go with your aunt, fight, and return.” I blinked asking, “Or… what?” He put his hands around my throat. I was actually shocked that he did. He said, “Or I’ll beat my mate until you return.”
I gasped, “You can’t do that. Article…” He cut me off, “We don’t abide by those rules down here.
So, you return or know Elena will be suffering until you do.
” I looked around when he stepped back. I asked Beta Jean, “What is wrong with you? With all of you? Is no one going to move to protect your Luna besides her son?”
Alpha Edward snorted, “He’s never been trained and he knows he can’t beat me.” I was beginning to think I could. It could require a goddesses help, but Selene should back me up here. Aunt Stephanie snarled, “GET IT THE CAR!” I didn’t even look at her.
I said, “Mates are gifts from the gods and goddesses. To treat one as you’re suggesting is a spit in their face.
It would also mean you are an extreme deviant if you are capable of causing your mate physical harm.
Does that scare you… for… obvious reasons?
” He replied, “I get away with it, so no.” His eyes twitched.
I frowned at him because he was a bad Alpha.
I admitted, “I don’t understand.” He replied, “Shocking.” I agreed, “It is. I’m a genius… so….” A few people snickered. Luna Elena said, “You’ve never raised a physical hand to me, Edward.” So, he was just an emotional abuser.
Alpha Edward ordered, “AJAX!” A pain rippled through my chest because I glanced to the side hoping I would see my brother’s wolf, but it was the Warlock. He chanted and smirked at me. I asked, “Is something supposed to be happening right now?” He gaped at me.
I continued, “Or am I supposed to wait for him to come over here? I’m pretty sure I can take him…
no, I’m positive I can… the probability is…
” I turned and caught the Gamma’s fist when he tried to punch me.
Then kicked a guy who was likely his son in the ribs.
He smelled like a wet dog. Literally. His son smelled like a dirty, wet dog. That is an unfortunate scent to have.
Now several people actually bent over laughing.
Mason being one of them. I flushed, “I said that out loud… didn’t I?
” Caine answered, “Yup, you did. To be fair, it’s an accurate description of his scent.
” Darn. Ok… getting in the car. Alpha Edward growled, “Finally.” Man, I’d said that out loud too.
I got in the car and Aunt Stephanie started it.
She growled, “You embarrassed me.” I asked, “Why do you think I care? I don’t know you…
you’re not even kind of nice… so… it doesn’t matter to me if you’re embarrassed.
You don’t care what I think of you. It stands to reason I do not care about what you think of me.
My mom didn’t like you enough to mention you and I see why. ”
If my mom didn’t like her, that was good enough for me. Plus, my grandparents were very nice people. Pains stabbed my heart again. She handed me a stack of letters. I’d ask what they were, but I recognized the handwriting. They were from family. I ripped open the one from Grandpa Ben.
