Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
He leaned closer adding, “I’d eat glass before letting you become Alexander’s girlfriend let alone his Luna. We have our sights on a much higher quality of person. She’s fabulous.” Claire snorted and they walked further away but I could hear them still talking.
Claire said, “Alexander hasn’t met his mate and eventually he’ll get tired of waiting.
I’ll make sure you aren’t the Beta around here after that.
I’m the only girl he’s shown interest in.
” I started towards the door as fury filled my veins.
I knew my eyes were blazing gold. Oden was growling in my head too.
Preston linked me, “I got this.” I heard a pop. Preston growled in warning, “I know you didn’t just threaten a member of the Hackura Royal family, who happens to be one of the Beta’s of this pack, Claire. Did it sound like a threat to you Phil?”
Phil hummed, “You know, I can’t decide. Even if it was, we both know she’s wrong.
” Gage growled, “I heard a threat to my Beta.” I agreed with him.
Claire tried to turn on the charm with my brother, “William, you know I’m the only girl Alexander has ever kissed.
If he goes with a chosen mate, it would be me. ” I rolled my eyes.
My mom glanced over at me and sent me her concern and curiosity.
She couldn’t hear or see the scene outside so she had no idea why several of us, especially me, were pissed the fuck off.
Angela drew her attention away from me though.
I sent my sister gratitude. I felt several eyes of a lot of family members eyes on me though.
I heard Preston reply, “William is not here. I’m Preston. Am I supposed to be impressed you got the right group of siblings born together? Because I’m not. My siblings’ mates can all tell us apart. Elise has never once gotten confused.”
“Nor has Buttercup. Hell, not even little Allison has messed up even once. Micah never does either. I could continue but you get my drift. Let’s not forget Cayden though that would be remiss of me. To forget the Commander of the Armies of the Hackura.”
Phil laughed, “She’s turning a strange color, cousin.” Good. Preston commented, “Hmmm I wonder why that would be? Is it because I casually slid in Cassie’s mate who could and would kill her over the course of several years if I asked him to?” Oden said, “That has promise.”
Preston continued, “Hell, we could take the FAR more entertaining route and tell Cassie that you tried to ruin Angela and TJ’s birthday party. Angela said so herself that if you stayed, you’d have ruined it. She can’t lie.”
Gage threw out, “Cassie would be spitting mad.” Preston added, “Not only mad. She’d shoot you with her sunlight and then she’d tell Cayden how upset she was.
How do you think that would go, Phil?” Phil laughed, “Astonishingly well, for me. Not for Claire though. On second thought, run back inside Claire.”
Claire shouted, “You are awful!” Phil snorted, “Now my feelings are hurt. Some random she wolf, not from my pack who is STALKING my Alpha, doesn’t like me. Woe to Phil.” I snorted. Gage said, “She needs a bigger tube of burn ointment for the burns she keeps taking.”
Preston urged, “Run along Claire, or stay and you will die today.” She must have left because Preston shouted, “Oh, and I saw that supposed kiss. Let’s be clear about something, YOU kissed Alexander.
He didn’t move his lips to kiss you back.
My brother pushed you off him then spent the rest of the night angrily tearing stuff up in the gym. ” Gage huffed, “Did he ever.”
Preston continued, “I hate to break it to you, but you’re clearly not a good kisser.
When one gets kissed and it’s good, or they are into it, they don’t spend all night angrily punching a heavy bag.
That’s just a general FYI for you. My brother is not into you.
He’s not playing hard to get. He just doesn’t want you. ”
Claire snorted, “He didn’t hurt me though.
” Preston said, “Good lord, is that your threshold? Alexander would never hurt someone who was not a threat. I’d watch it because you’re moving into that territory.
Also, aim higher in your standards. That’s sad.
Plus, he might not have but someone that night did.
Or don’t you remember who kicked your ass?
” I thought mom just punched her a few times. Who kicked her ass?
I linked Preston, “Tell Phil that Gage is right, she needs some more aloe vera.” I heard Phil laugh out loud. He sighed, “Alas, Claire you’ll have to run along. I was only prepared with a small amount of Aloe Vera to coat your burns.”
“My cousin Preston over here is just piling on though. You do know Alexander can hear us, and he’s not coming out here to defend you. Or stop us.” Claire snarled, “He didn’t come out here for you either.” Oden growled, “I will kill her.”
Preston snidely said, “He didn’t come out because I told him to stay put.
I know the look on his face. For what you said to Phil he might have accidentally exploded your brain.
” I linked him, “I have control over my powers, and you know that.” Preston replied, “I mean, accidents happen, and she doesn’t need to know how good you are.
She needs a healthy dose of fear.” I rolled my eyes.
Angela popped outside so I walked to the door. She announced, “You have thirty seconds to go. If Alexander actually comes out here, you will not like what follows.” Claire asked, “Why would he come out here?” Preston laughed, “Do you know anything about us? The answer is obvious.” It was.
Angela answered, “Because I came out here. Stop trying to ruin my party!” Claire rolled her eyes saying, “I’m going.” Angela warned, “Word to the wise, STAY OUT! Your path is shoring up and let me tell you it’s a DOOZY for you.” Preston laughed, “Who kicks her ass?”
Angela sighed admitting, “It’s blurry but becoming more and more certain. The girl has black hair though.” I smiled knowing it was Melanie. I quickly had to shove my anger down knowing Claire was going to upset Melanie. I should just kill her.
Oden chimed in, “I’m on board.” Gage linked, “Are we killing her or not? I could go with yes and normally I say no.” I didn’t answer and walked over to my Hackura uncles to stop myself from running Claire down. We were allies with Theo Bartlett, and Claire was from his pack.
My Uncle Bjourn smiled greeting, “Hello, Alexander. It seems the crazy girl is back. You know if she does something and your mother finds out we didn’t tell her about said crazy girl, we are all in trouble.
” I replied, “Being in trouble can be fun. You just have to smile at her and she gets less mad.”
Uncle Marcus said, “At you. You’re her son.
” Uncle Harper laughed, “Good god, do I know something you both don’t?
I like that a lot.” Uncle Bjourn asked, “What do you know?” He winked, “Our little sister has beat that she wolf up.” Preston meant mom?
It was clearly more than the punches I knew about then.
I quickly changed the subject asking, “Do you know where Cass is?” Uncle Bjourn said, “Cayden was going to see a source and she was trying to wait for him to get back. She did a pretty intense workout today though. She used a lot of energy then she trained on her powers. She might have fallen asleep waiting for him.”
I asked, “Is she ok?” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “She’s annoyed at the situation Cayden is going through.” I could understand that whole heartedly. My dad walked over, and I went back to my corner. Right when I’d gotten there EJ popped in with Elise.
I raised an eyebrow at my older brother.
He reeked of sex and his mate. He linked me, “When your mate gets in a fight and defends your bond with her, you’ll understand why I couldn’t resist her.
Plus, with you, we’ll have to worry that Melanie will kill someone. She’s always been possessive of you.”
I couldn’t help the pride I felt from those words. At least that makes two of us. I really hoped she was my mate. Oden sighed, “Not to be the broken record in your head, but MELANIE IS OURS! Stop doubting me.”
I reasoned, “Oden, you know why I feel that way.” Oden grumbled, “Let’s go question the scum that is the bullying wolf over there.
Ask him how mate smelled to him. WHEN he says she didn’t smell overly good THEN you will accept that I am right.
” I retorted, “I’m not voluntarily talking to Robert, or I will kill him.
” He huffed, “Fine. That’s fair. He’s annoying. ” He really is.
I replied to my brother via link, “Provided she’s my mate, and I’m not some creepy weirdo.” He sighed, “I know you have days where you think that, but we all know. Ok? You are not some creepy weirdo.” I admitted, “I hope I’m not.”
EJ asked, “What’s been happening? FYI Elise told me her theory. I’m sure it aligns with Phil’s.” Angela popped over to mom. She whispered, “You invited Farrin and Trixie, right? They were supposed to be here.” My mom assured her, “I invited them. I’m sure they will pop in any minute.” A Fairy?!
I linked EJ in a panic, “Hell to the FUCK no! Her mate is a damn Fairy? No. NO. NO!” EJ sounded resigned, “I am getting the sense he is, little brother.” Fury filled me because I remembered quite vividly the story of what happened to my mom during her childhood in Faerie.
She told us when we turned sixteen and I’d be damned if my little sister knew a second of pain.
I snarled at EJ, “After what they did to mom? NO! They can’t have Angela.
That’s a no.” He rationalized, “Fairies are different now. Farrin is obviously mated with Trixie and he’s different with her.
They have children who were raised to respect their mates.
” He was being LOGICAL? Oden growled, “He’s always logical.
” He was but right now I REALLY didn’t like it.
