Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
The more talkative one surmised, “The voice of the forgotten. We know you. We aren’t exactly forgotten though, just not known.” I frowned reasoning, “There’s a desire to be known if you put yourself in a movie.” They looked at each and nodded.
The talkative one instructed, “Follow us. Let’s see how fast you are.
” I was ridiculously fast for having no wolf.
I kept up with them. I could’ve run faster, but I didn’t know where they were going.
I ran through to a society that had filmy quality to it like the Shroud.
It wasn’t visible from the outside. It was like the Shroud.
Several people stopped when we entered. The man, that was clearly in charge, was in front of me in seconds.
I greeted him, “Hi, I’m… well that’s complicated but again you’d know me Ashley Griffen…
well they did so… you probably do. Don’t worry about that explosion it was me.
I’m an ally if you didn’t recognize the name. ”
He scoffed, “I did worry about the explosion until you showed up. I see you met my daughter. One of them anyway. Her and her best friend are always running off.” The girl kicked the dirt with her shoe.
So, he was worried because she was out. He answered, “Yes, I was.” Oh…
dang it. I really had to work on not talking out loud.
I shrugged, “Well, she’s fine…she was with me…
. Also, I’m kind of a fan because knowing Quatchiees exist is cool.
I could put you in touch with other supernatural groups that aren’t known to the…
well everyone except themselves and me. The ones that don’t mind others reaching out.
There’s kind of this whole community of unknown’s I’ve formed… .”
He laughed, “Why don’t you come have dinner with my family? We can discuss these unknown’s you’ve found.” I frowned, “You probably don’t want that. I get told I talk too much… and I’m annoying … by a very large group of people.”
He chuckled, “Nonsense. We don’t get visitors outside our own kind. I’ll be fascinated at what you could tell me. You seem to know quite a bit. My wife would castrate me if I let a young woman leave without a meal. She’s cooking up a storm or she’d have been out here.”
I looked at my watch admitting, “I have time for dinner.” Barely. He smiled saying, “Good.” I was going to have to add Quatchiees to my growing list of unknown’s. There were so many. He asked, “So, you not only are the voice of the forgotten you find unknown Supernatural’s?”
I hummed, “I mean…it’s more like I run into them…out and about.” His daughter I’d met said, “We felt like we should come talk to you the second we heard you.” Interesting… weird… but interesting. I shrugged, “I get that a lot. I’m theorizing I have a comforting voice… or something…”
A woman, I was guessing was his older daughter groaned, “Belina, what did you do now?” Belina, my talkative girl, answered, “I found Ashley Griffen.” Her sister snorted, “Sure you did.” I chimed in, “I mean… found is a strong word… but…”
She shouted, “Wait, you’re actually Ashley Griffen?” I answered, “That is what some people call me.”
She put her hand out introducing herself, “I’m Lyric.” I inclined my head, and we went to dinner. I met all her siblings and deduced they were the Royal family.
After dinner Lyric jumped up and started dancing the cha-cha. I giggled and joined her. She gasped, “Another dance lover!” I winked, “You have no idea… literally…” I’d gotten into Julliard. She hummed and we danced.
I told her, “I’ll call you Cha-Cha.” Her brothers threw their heads back laughing and her sisters snickered. My watched beeped. I said, “I have to head off. I will come see you all another time.” I handed her dad my card.
I asked, “Do you want the list of people who would talk to you and form alliances?” He chuckled, “I do.” I handed it to him and ran off. Someone said, “Damn. She’s fast. Like really fast.” Another said, “Ashley Griffen has to be fast. I’ve never heard of someone being so many places.”
I was fast but Demons shimmered us around. Partial Fairies I’d helped train that could pop, and we had holoports. So, it wasn’t surprising at all that we got around so fast. I smacked my own head, “They were talking about the workshops.” Not the Resistance.
I went through several holoports and saw Kingsley waiting. She stared at her watch and started to leave. I whisper yelled, “Wait! I’m here… I’m totally here. I’m late… and I’m sorry. I met the Quatchiees!”
She asked, “You met who now?” I answered, “Big Foot Wookie’s. Their real name is Quatchiees.” She threw her head back and laughed. She said, “Oh my god I miss you when we aren’t together.” I shrugged, “They’d probably talk to you… so…” She hummed, “Let’s rescue these women first.”
We were rescuing a group of women Kingsley’s group: Operation Saint Rita. I asked, “How many?” She said, “I know there are four.” I hummed, “That’s too big of a building for four people… too many escape options. The risks are too high. ILYX, scan the building.”
ILYX replied, “Scanning, Melanie Jane.” I shivered.
Kingsley chuckled, “So, how many new videos has your Xander posted?” I admitted, “He’s done an uptick in the challenges he does…
so Phil probably told him… and his Hackura side likes the challenges…
and the lifting belt click videos… the jump rope ones… well and…”
She cut me off, “So basically all the ones you drool over. Have you considered the fact that he might just monitor who watches those videos?” I snorted, “He’s an Alpha…. So…. No. Maybe Phil does… or Prince Gunner Cambridge… but if I looked into it and found that, then I’d stop watching and…”
She actually scoffed, “You couldn’t stop watching if you tried.” I grumbled, “Well, you all told me to relieve myself after watching them… then when I do… they STORM in on me….” She gasped, “They did not!”
I hummed, “Yeah… they did…I watched a slow motion hand down his chest then the belt click with the sea shanty challenge and they BURST in…for no reason… so…” Kayda took over asking, “Do you want me to eat and regurgitate them for that, my pet?” I snorted, “No, but thanks.” She hummed.
Kingsley shrugged, “Try it again but lock the door.” I grumbled, “I do that now. I’m actually working on a study about why the weight lifting belt click is so hot…
I think it’s his smirk… he winks now too.
” I pretended that was for me since he’s looking at the camera…
even though it definitely wasn’t….in my head it was. Kingsley chuckled.
ILYX said, “Scan complete. There are one-hundred heartbeats in this building.” I hummed, “That is…” Kingsley screeched in anger.
I asked, “How is it guarded?” She’d been here doing the intel gathering.
She answered pointing to the men leaving.
“Once they leave, we have twenty minutes, but they aren’t far away. There’s a Guard house five miles out.”
I snorted, “That’s so much time between rounds… I mean it makes it easy for us… but jeez.. talk about a lack of security.” She called in more of her people that could shimmer in and out. They nodded to me. My face was pretty common for them to see these days.
Kinglsey and I walked up to the building. She said, “I haven’t been able to get the code for the door.” I snorted, “There would be nothing for me to do if you had.” She chuckled and I broke into the door system easily.
I winked, “This is actually the company I just bought.” She shook her head. We went in and heard guards inside. Kingsley and I both stopped. Someone grumbled, “I don’t know what this intel about this location getting hit by those dumb ass circle or women’s group, but clearly they aren’t coming.”
Kingsley pulled her lighter out of her watch. I tapped several buttons and my broadsword came out. Xander trained it with most often. We went in stealthily. We were behind them before they noticed. I cut the first guy’s head off.
A woman came at Kingsley. She screeched and knocked her out. We killed the rest. Kingsley scoffed, “A WOMAN is helping do this to OTHER women?! I’ll have someone take her to my flying building so I can HUNT HER!”
I agreed, “Sure thing Kayda.” We walked over and I bent down to pick the lock on the trap door. Kingsley asked, “Whatcha doing?” I answered, “Picking the lock on the trap door. Which… Feels kind of obvious… and…” She hummed, “Trap door?” I pointed, “This one.” She made a face I couldn’t interpret.
I picked it and opened it up, and her eyes widened.
People screamed, “Help us!” I inclined my head to Kingsley and her other people shimmered in.
I went and placed charges all around the building while they took care of that.
It felt fair since this building had been used for evil that I turn around and blow it sky high.
When everyone was out, Kingsley and I walked back to the spot we’d met in. I hit the detonator and the building went down. Kingsley snorted, “I see you were just as mad as I was. Come on, I’m going to introduce you to the Yule Cats.” Uhh what? She really liked them…and people did not like me.
That made me very nervous. Kingsley said, “They will love you and we need to get out of sight. They have a Shroud type deal.” We were covered in blood, and we had killed a bunch of people. Loudly.
I whispered, “I probably shouldn't have detonated the building.” She scoffed, “I would’ve if you didn’t.” It had been an evil building they used to traffic women and young girls. That was definitely reason to kill them and blow up the whole place.
She said, “I have brought people here before so don’t worry, it’s fine.” Don’t worry and Melanie didn’t really belong in the same sentence… Worrying was basically my job. She called, “LUCA!” A Hawk flew down, but I knew he was a shifter.
