Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
Melanie is Eighteen Years Old
Melanie was walking around the pack. I had hoped Jason would send me a card or letter for my birthday, but he didn’t. No one did. I heard Trevor growl, “Mine!” Oh gosh. His poor mate. He ran and stood in front of me.
I moved the side, but he mirrored me. I saw Buck’s jaw drop and his eyes widen in horror. I told Trevor, “By all means, go get your mate. I have a meeting with Buck so… move… and I’ll just be thinking positive thoughts for you mate.” I’d probably have to get her out of here.
Trevor grabbed my arm, and I put him on his back in a second. I asked, “What do you think you’re doing?” He snarled, “You are my mate! We are going to my room, mating, marking, then I’ll burn that stuffed wolf of yours.” I threw my head back and laughed.
A crowd had gathered. Dax pushed through. He asked, “What’s going on here?” I answered, “Trevor is lying for some reason. I’m not really sure why… but he lives in a fantasy land of things that are NEVER happening.”
He growled, “You’re just mad you had delusions of grandeur. Alpha Alexander isn’t yours, you’re mine!” I blinked at him. I asked, “Do you think I like the smell of wet dog? I don’t.” He growled at me, “That doesn’t matter! You are mine.”
I argued, “It does in fact matter…I am not yours… also I don’t feel tingles when I touch you…
nor am I drawn to you. I’m pretty sure you’re lying because everyone knows if you decided you wanted me as your chosen, you can’t forcibly mark me…
because I’d kick your butt. Maybe even kill you.
It’s all a strange turn of events with whatever stunt you’re pulling today. ”
Dax put himself between me and Trevor. Trevor snarled, “Move. She’s mine.” I scoffed, “Please… literally no one believes that.” Booker said, “You will do what fated mates do, Melanie.” I sighed, “Of course Booker believes you because he has no brain.” He snarled at me.
Aunt Stephanie shouted, “You go mate with that boy right now.” I agreed, “He is a boy. Oh my gosh, we agree on something…I honestly never thought a day would come where we did…but you’re right. He’s not a man… that’s for certain.” Buck hung and shook his head.
Edward called, “Buck, you’ll have to make do without Melanie. We clearly need to talk this through.” I called, “I’ll be ten minutes late tops, Buck. Because this is easily solved. It’s not true and literally everyone but you three…” I paused.
I admitted, “Actually probably even you three, know it. Trevor, come on… dispense with this drama. You hate me. Everyone here knows you hate me. Wanna know how? You tell everyone… a lot… like all the time….at least three times a day…and that’s an average.”
He snarled, “That doesn’t change that you are mine.” I warned, “Stop saying that because I am NOT yours nor will I ever be.” Dax followed us into the meeting with Booker, Caine, Edward, and Trevor. Edward said, “I linked Buck you wouldn’t be joining him.”
I disagreed, “I’ll join him so fast… like blazingly fast.” Jean said, “You just can’t feel the mate bond.
” I snorted, “Are you going to try and gaslight me right now? I feel you are. I really do.” Edward, surprisingly gently, said, “You don’t have a wolf.
So, you have to be marked to feel the bond.
” Dax tensed but I laughed in all their faces.
Trevor’s mom joined us and sat quietly. I started crying I was laughing so hard. I asked, “Is this what you tell all the wolf less members?” I looked at their faces and sobered. I gasped, “You do! Oh my gosh… why do I keep thinking I know how DEPRAVED you are? I clearly don’t… you all are on some…”
Booker interrupted, “You will mate my son and like it.” I laughed, “I’ve yet to hear about an encounter a woman enjoyed with him.” Trevor snarled at me, “You are my second chance, and you will submit.” I said, “I am not yours and you know it.”
He argued, “You can’t feel…” I cut him off, “I’m not letting you gaslight me. I grew up in a pack with partials. There are Werewolf hybrids that have a QUARTER of wolf blood running in their wolf less veins, and they recognized their mate. A QUARTER!”
Dax’s head jolted to mine as if he didn’t know that.
I scoffed, “I’m not mating Trevor… end of story.
” I walked out of the room with them following me.
Booker demanded, “Alpha Command her, Edward!” I scoffed, “Oh my gosh… try it. Try it and find out what happens. That is ILLEGAL even to the Supernatural council.”
Edward grabbed Booker’s arm because one of the men that mated to a woman from another pack were outside in the yard. Her jaw dropped and her arms crossed. Edward laughed nervously, “Of course I wouldn’t Alpha Command Melanie to do that.” He couldn’t.
He’d tried before and it didn’t work, but that was before Red Run banished me.
He hadn’t tried since that had happened which was odd now that I thought about it.
The woman nodded and the guy shot me a look full of apologies as he rushed her out of the pack.
I didn’t need an apology. He should get her out. This wasn’t true.
Booker snarled, “Mate my son, now.” I answered, “No, in fact if anyone wants a lesson in how to know when you’re being gaslit... I’m here for you. I’m here for you all the time but none of you listen… which…”
Trevor growled, “You just don’t feel the bond yet.” I replied, “Chosen mates don’t feel a bond until they are marked. FATED mates do… even if they are a partial. I, Melanie Jane McAlister, reject you Trevor McCann as my mate.” Nothing happened.
I snorted, “See? LIAR!” Booker stammered, “It didn’t work because you don’t have a wolf.
” The rumblings had started around the pack.
A lot were indignant. I snorted, “Every single wolf knows that if he had been my mate, it would’ve hurt him even if he didn’t accept.
Because while you claim I don’t feel the bond…
he said he did. Yet he’s standing there just fine… ”
I paused adding, “And I think we all know he’s a wimp when it comes to pain.” Trevor snarled, “You can’t talk to your mate like that.” I shouted, “YOU ARE NOT MY MATE! I AM NOT YOURS!” He warned, “Just because you wanted to be someone else’s doesn’t make you not mine.”
I replied, “The fact you hurt me the way you did does… the fact that you have been NOTHING but a bully, tyrant, evil, sadistic jerk to me since I came does… the fact that you didn’t go down IN PAIN when I fake rejected you WITH THE REAL REJECTION WORDS does… AND EVERYONE HERE KNOWS IT!”
I got in his face, “You can’t gaslight me about mates. I didn’t grow up here with your crap being spewed at me. I was raised with love.” He shoved me, “And got sent to us because you’re a cursed family killer!” Pain lit through me. Dax snarled at him.
Caine jumped out of a truck. He asked, “What’s going on here?
” Someone muttered, “They’ve been lying about how wolf less don’t feel the bond with their fated mates until marked.
Melanie said she wasn’t Trevor’s and proved it by rejecting him.
He didn’t even flinch in pain. They have been LYING all along! ” Good. Finally. People were pissed.
Caine snarled, “Trevor, back off.” He declared, “She is mine.” I scoffed, “I’m not and you know it.
” Edward Alpha Commanded, “No one will tell Melanie she’s not Trevor’s.
He’s said she is, and we believe him. This is just a mate’s spat.
” People stared at him like he was insane.
He blinked realizing that he was losing the tentative string he held on this pack.
I shook my head, “You’re disgusting. You are a disgrace to your blood.
You should have my back… especially considering this is the man who hurt me…
and you let that happen. You should’ve said you’d get a pack approved couple’s therapist if you believed him.
You should PUNISH him for LYING about me being his mate… ” He went to talk, but I wasn’t done.
I scoffed, “And not how you punish people. Like normal Alpha’s do… though Trevor would be DEAD in any other pack. He shot the Female Lead Warrior in the back while she was saving pups.” Trevor growled, “You deserved it.”
I scoffed, “For saving pack members? Even if it wasn’t MY JOB… no one deserves to be shot by a coward in the back… and…” He cut me off, “You got your family killed! Beta Jason told us we could do whatever we wanted to you.”
I scoffed, “No he didn’t. If you want to hold onto that though I’ll drive to their border with Blue Moon’s border and ask.
Do you think Alpha Peter and Beta Jason would enjoy your masterpiece and condone it, Trevor?
” I knew the answer even if they’d deluded themselves into think they had permission to do that. They all paled.
Booker snarled, “You’re not leaving. You are my son’s mate.
” I mocked him, “Just because you keep saying it, doesn’t make it true…
he’s not mine and I’m NOT an idiot. No one here believed he was my mate before he didn’t react to my rejection.
It’s literally unthinkable, even to you dolts, to hurt your mates the way he has PHSYICALLY hurt me. ”
I sneered, “Only deviants hurt and abuse their mates. Are you finally admitting he is one? Because then he will be taken to the Supernatural Council and…” Edward said, “That’s not necessary.” I argued, “Under Supernatural Council decrees 149 SSB subsection…”
Trevor shouted, “We don’t care about your rules!” I rolled my eyes saying, “You don’t care about anyone’s rules until they affect you. It’s very uneducated of you… unbecoming… there are more adjectives to describe you, but we’d be here all day, and I have a MEETING!”
I took off running and for once, most of the pack covered my escape. Trevor snarled, “You can’t escape me, mate.” I shouted, “I am NOT your mate… you wet smelly dog…” I grumbled, “He smells so bad and… opfff…” Trevor’s mom grabbed me and yanked me behind the gym.
