Alpha Ezra was gleeful. I clarified, “And you’re sure it all worked?” The Ring representative rolled her eyes at me. My wolf broke free of the hold I had on him. He asked, “What is this you’re thinking about? You can’t do this! NOT TO A PUP! I AM AN ALPHA WOLF AND I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS.”
I simply dosed him with some wolfsbane, and he was back to being quiet. He’d forget all about it too and his memory was all foggy. He didn’t know over half the things I did. Nor could he tell another wolf if he remembered.
The Ring woman raised an eyebrow at the pressure syringe I used.
I snorted, “You people provide us with these and then looked confused when we use them.” She shrugged, “I would never hurt my counterpart. You just have to reason with them.” I didn’t know what she was, and I didn’t care.
I explained, “An Alpha wolf would never agree to hurt a pup as we plan to do.”
She shrugged, “So, you have a holier than thou wolf. You just need to find the right thing to convince him this is what’s right.
” He could not be convinced, like some other Alpha’s wolves I knew.
Our brother, we didn’t know about dying didn’t do it.
Us not getting money out of those filthy rich bastard allies didn’t do it.
I didn’t even get answers until the Ring approached me.
I was never getting what was due to me until they showed up.
I waved, “This isn’t about my wolf. This is about my revenge. Are we sure that no one met the pup?” She said, “I’m told the pups name is Melanie.” I knew that. I just didn’t care. I got her damn birth announcement three years ago because I was pretending to be Red Run’s ally for information.
I asked, “How is that pup’s name relevant?
It’s not. I’ve known it for three years; I just don’t care about her.
” She waved, “Yes, well as you know the second you told us about Sam’s heat and possibly trying for another child we got some spelled cookies into her at the grocery store.
They were samples she tried. Once she did that, she had to have them.
We even signed her up for delivery direct to her house. ”
I grinned, “So no one will question you because you have her signature. Are you keeping up the deliveries?” She winked, “I have for three years. The pack loved it when we showed up with the cookies when she was pregnant because she couldn’t keep anything but our cookies down.
It was all part of the plan.” It was honestly thrilling to me how much I was getting past Drake McAlister.
He had no idea, but one day I would shove it all in his face.
I grinned, “So, you spelled Sam. We need more than that to convince them of all our plans. I’ve been trying to tell you that. She wolves are fiercely protective.” One of my own pup’s mother’s was annoyingly against my ideas.
She had Alpha blood, and I knew our pup would be my strongest pup.
She just fought for him every step of the way.
Tao could be great, and she wanted him to be good, just like Alpha Eric Conners.
It made me sick. Her mate stood up for them both.
I couldn’t believe him. I’d raped his mate in front of him while he was sedated and he still wanted Tao. He was infuriating.
The woman in front of me nodded, “Yes, we found a couple that had a child with Werewolf blood.” I cut her off, “I told you it was important my brother’s line was involved in this.” She grinned, “And this child IS related to him.” I asked, “How?”
She huffed, “So the she wolf he had a child with impregnated a human.” I wanted to grimace.
She said, “Your brother was twelve at the time.” I shrugged.
She continued, “That human gave birth to a girl who had a teen pregnancy with another human.” Disgusting.
She added, “If you care, they ended up being mates.” I did not care in the slightest.
She replied, “The pack wouldn’t accept her, so he rejected her.
” I frowned, “And?” She replied, “She gave up that child who went into foster care. This child is that child’s daughter.
The family is quite young and very happy to have a steady income for something simple.
” It seemed to be a problem with that group to keep having kids young. At least it helped serve my purpose.
She asked, “Do you want their contact information?” I scoffed, “Why would I want that?” She answered, “They are relatives of yours.” I explained slowly, “If I am seen with them, the allies will catch wind of it all. What’s the plan?
Walk me through it.” Because we were hammering out the details and we disagreed on a main sticking point of mine.
I wanted Melanie here and hidden. They did not.
She sighed, “Ok, so now that we know Melanie’s talent, we….” I snorted, “No pup of Drake McAlister’s will have any talents of note.” She sighed, “Yes, well you do realize he’s somewhat a genius himself?” I dismissed her with a wave.
She told me, “Ok, well by all accounts Melanie is smart like Drake is, but even more so.” That wouldn’t be hard since he was an idiot.
She continued, “She’s also a dancer.” I snorted, “She’s three.
” She grinned, “We have a teacher in the dance school on our payroll and she slipped us the tape of Melanie’s class.
She’s amazing.” I rolled my eyes knowing they were wrong.
She continued, “We plan to have the pup you are related to wear this necklace.” She held it up saying, “She’ll look like the McAlister girl.
I took a hair off the baby when I delivered Sam her cookies three years ago.
I told her that I’d heard she’d given birth and made an extra batch for her.
We’d packed those with some sedatives to knock her out. It was improv on my part.”
I growled, “The pack OB could’ve discovered the whole plan!
” She rolled her eyes, “They didn’t. Plus, they had already did all their bloodwork.
I am NOT a novice.” I said, “You have a counterpart but you have Witch powers.” She winked at me, “It makes me effective, doesn’t it?
” She was annoying and I wanted to rip her apart.
She waved, “Come on, admit it. I’m helpful.
I kept Sam secluded her entire pregnancy.
” I snorted, “It was only three months, and you want a damn crown. It was also three years ago.” She rolled her eyes, “Yes, I do. That’s not easy to do for someone who is a social butterfly like Sam McAlister.
I even kept her best friend away.” I outright laughed, “Chelsea Hanes has absolutely been around Sam.” She frowned, “Valerie Bi…” I cut her off, “I know who Valerie is. I know who everyone tied to that family is.”
She said, “Well, to this day Valerie has not seen Melanie. Nor has anyone outside of the pack, because Drake has been influenced to be even more overprotective than his instincts call for.” I asked, “Cookies again?” She grinned, “No, it’s in his coffee.
” I wanted to say she’d probably gone overboard because she clearly didn’t know how much coffee Beta’s drank, but I didn’t really care.
I kind of hoped Drake sounded so paranoid that Alpha Peter removed him as his Beta.
She said, “Now, we’ll have the pup cross the border. We have hit a possible, and very large, snag.” I snarled, “WHAT?!” She explained, “The pup in the pack that’s your blood…” I cut her off, “If he’s befriended them, I’ll kill him.”
She gasped, “Wow. Overreaction much? No, it’s the opposite problem. Your son and the McAlister’s don’t get along, especially our target.” I sat back humming, “Good boy.” She rolled her eyes, “Yes, well it’s how we discovered Melanie believes Alexander Conners is her mate.”
I asked, “And?” She snorted, “Now, we need to keep them away from each other. Along with his family. We don’t have powerful enough spells for the Princess though.
” I questioned, “But you do for Alpha Eric?” She replied, “Well, it’s a stronger batch and being tested right now in their pack.
So far, it’s only kept him from directly interfering with things surrounding Melanie.
” I scoffed, “How did you get it in?” She answered vaguely, “We have a mole in their pack.” I asked, “Who?” She shrugged, “I can’t tell you.
” I snorted, “As if I’d tell them.” She laughed, “Well, until Cassandra Conners died it was her.” That actually pulled me up short before I busted up laughing so hard I hit my knee.
I cackled, “You turned CASSANDRA CONNERS?” She grinned, “They had her over a barrel, but honestly she was more than happy to help. She gave us so much information on Melanie it’s crazy. ”
I conceded, “She would. She hates Fairies.” She waved, “Yes, well now there is another.” I asked, “Who? I might need to assist them.” She sighed, “Her name is Patricia. She’s quite money hungry and has an expensive shopping habit.
She thinks she’s passing information to the Supernatural Council.
” I asked, “Is she?” She chuckled, “Yes, but it’s also us. ” I didn’t care enough to ask how.
I urged, “Back to our plans.” She nodded, “Yes, and I know you won’t like this.
So, just hear me out.” I sat back in my chair and gestured for her to go ahead.
She cleared her throat, “I’ve taken care of the McAlister’s phone by getting them to a great dark Witch.
No one outside the pack can see pictures of Melanie, they are blurs.
With this Conners possible mating, we need a bigger spell. So, that’s being worked on.”
I nodded, indicating with my index finger she needed to keep going.
She explained, “We can’t have the Conners seeing what she truly looks like for all this to work.
Given her abilities in dancing that’s how we are going to get them to believe she’s left the pack.
Sam will be spelled when Melanie gets older to push for an Arts school in New York.
Your relative is going to take her spot. ”
