Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
I replied, “Farrin has a nephew who is older than us.” I felt his hope that wasn’t who her mate was.
He replied, “That’s not a big deal to supernatural’s, but let’s hope it's not him. Or dad might kill him.” Dad wouldn’t kill him because mom wouldn’t let him.
She’d say they couldn’t ride hypocrisy horses since they have an age gap that humans pause at sometimes.
Oden snorted, “Mom found that absurd because she wasn’t raised in this realm.” She did and she didn’t understand the horror on some people’s faces when they heard their age gap. She’d joked Vampires could never come out to humans because their age gaps sometimes spanned centuries.
She’d been stunned when she found out humans loved Vampire love stories. She’d muttered about their double standards for months. Especially when she found out it was cool that teenagers with century old Vampires to the humans.
Angela had her far off stare going before she started clapping. My mom smiled at her while my dad felt like he was facing his own funeral. Farrin, Trixie, and their four kids popped in. Their son, Klaus, locked eyes on Angela. Awesome.
Angela blushed and whispered, “Hi, Klaus.” Klaus smirked, “Hello, birthday girl. That must make you Duchess Angela Conners.” Angela’s feelings told me he was hers even before she shyly nodded at him.
I looked at the ceiling and silently chastised two goddess and a god, “Really Azoney, Selene, and Aesir?! You want me to be ok with Angela having a Fairy mate?” I got no response.
I continued, “Granted, said Fairy was raised to be a good person. FUCK! I’ve met the kid. He’s a polite, nice kid and rather powerful with the Fire powers. You want me to handle this WITHOUT Melanie beside me? You do know I’m an Enforcer, right?! That did not escape the attention of you all?”
I ranted, “I’m going to need Melanie to walk through that damn door in the next fifteen seconds.
” Oden hummed, “I approve of this message to the gods and goddesses.” Good.
We stared at the door but unsurprisingly, that did not happen.
I honestly knew it wouldn’t. I just hoped one of the three would throw me a damn bone.
Klaus declared, “It also makes you mine.” Angela giggled. It was hard seeing my siblings find their mates. Especially when most days I was certain I knew who mine was. I missed her. Oden growled but didn’t say anything.
I was happy for Angela though. I just wished Melanie was here to share that with me. She SHOULD be here to share that with me. She was ninefuckingteen years old. She should be moved in here. Goddamn it. Now I was grouchy. Not about me. This is NOT about me. Angela. Focus on Angela.
TJ popped beside Angela looking bored. He’d been prepared for this and did feel bored by it all in the bond.
TJ said, “I’m the birthday boy, if you care.
” Klaus chuckled, “I did before I met the birthday girl. Now, not so much.” TJ sighed, “Normally, I appreciate that, but this is going to hell in a handbasket.”
I wouldn’t quite say that, but dad was leaning towards detonation with my Hackura family. My siblings were ok though and mom was happy. The anger burning through us were from our Hackura Uncles, some cousins, and my dad.
Oden snarled, “I want mate. Go get her.” I snorted, “And how do you suggest I do that?” Karina walked by with cookies. Thank god. I snatched one and ate it. Feeling better about everything. Karina was a magical ass baker.
Mom urged, “Angela, introduce us to your mate.” Angela smiled announcing, “This is Klaus, mom. Klaus, this is my mom.” Klaus chuckled, “I have met your mom. Hello, Princess.” She waved him off, “It’s just Haley amongst family.”
Farrin asked, “Son, what is happening?” Trixie squealed and Uncle Aiden was beaming with joy. I couldn’t really blame him honestly. He wanted one of us to be in Faerie more often so badly. We all loved him, but I was honestly shocked that one of us got a Fairy mate.
Dad roared, “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! NO! HELL TO THE FUCK NO! NOT HIS SON! Not the man who tried to fu…” Mom yelled, interrupting him, “ERIC NATHAN CONNERS!” That brought the entire party to a dead quiet halt.
What now? Oden growled, “He was going to say fuck.” It did sound like it.
Which told me why my mom didn’t want him to say it.
In all my life, I’d NEVER heard my mom yell at my dad like that in front of other people.
On occasion when they’d fight, sure. It was the curse of our super hearing.
In a setting like this though it was unheard of.
Preston linked, “I can’t look away. It’s like….” He trailed off then admitted, “I don’t even know. Seeing a polar bear fly.” I rolled my eyes replying, “Obviously, Farrin did something dad didn’t like that mom doesn't want Angela to know about.”
Oden told me, “Thor is pissed.” Yeah, I could tell.
My parents were obviously linking each other.
Uncle Aiden looked deeply amused. Eventually, my mom bent down and spoke to Angela.
“Sweetie, why don’t you and TJ go outside with Klaus and his siblings.
Parker, Cole, and Calvin will go with you too.
You and Klaus should get to know each other. ”
Angela wiped away tears whispering, “Daddy?” Dad knelt down apologizing, “I’m sorry I yelled, Princess.” He squeezed her tightly. She told him, “We are so happy together, I promise.” He nodded then kissed her cheek. He shot Klaus a glare and stalked towards his office.
I linked Parker, Cole, Calvin and TJ, “I’m sure Klaus won’t do anything, but be on alert for other Fairies. They could use you all outside as a distraction.” Parker answered, “We will be on alert, big brother.” I smiled at them as they walked out.
My mom said, “Trixie and Farrin, if you’d join whoever the fuck else ends up in my office I’d appreciate it. I’m sure it will be most of my family. Aiden, you’re coming and that’s nonnegotiable.” Uncle Aiden popped over and smiled, “I would truly not miss this for the world, little sister.”
Uncle Aiden hugged Trixie and Farrin. He held up his hand for a high five. I couldn’t help but enjoy his happiness which radiated from his very being. EJ popped out first and I followed, which is when Cassie popped in smiling. She looked at all of us, then frowned. She asked, “What did I miss?”
My mom walked into the room with her hands on her hips. She answered, “Your father losing his goddamn mind that’s what you missed. Eric….” My dad growled interrupting her, “NOT HIS SON! Not a fucking Fairy! NO!”
My mom reasoned, “Eric, you know he won’t hurt her.
He wasn’t raised the way Fairies have been in the past. Fegle has never hurt Julianna.
It’s not like Angela is moving realms anytime soon either.
She’s only ten and Klaus is thirteen. We will just get them together like we did EJ and Elise. You’ll get to know him.”
Dad replied, “HIS FATHER TRIED TO FUCK YOU!” My mom rolled her eyes, “Once, and he didn’t fuck me.” Thor took over, “HE TRIED TO AT OUR WEDDING RECEPTION!” My mom counted out loud, “One, Two, Three, Four.”
She blew out a breath then pointed a finger at him, “Do you know how many people STILL try to fuck you?” He blinked at her. I linked Phil, “Are people really still trying to fuck my dad? My parents have been together for a long ass time.”
He snorted, “You cannot be serious.” He added Gage to our link, “Gage, he’s seriously asking if people try to fuck Cousin Eric.” Gage said, “It’s an oddly high number given he’s been mated for over twenty years.” Oden growled in my head.
Mom questioned, “Do you? Because it’s A REALLY FUCKING HIGH NUMBER!
I’m up to the ceiling in crazy ass she wolves.
Farrin is happily mated. He didn’t even like me as a person until well after our reception.
He was never cruel to me, nor did he hurt me.
Can we just take a fucking minute to calm the fuck down? ”
Cassie linked me, “Boy, you take a nap wake for a party and hear things one never needs to hear.” I replied, “I never got the impression from Farrin he liked mom in that way.” Cassie reasoned, “He’d met Trixie by the time we were old enough to have a memory of him.”
I linked Oden, “Do you recall that ever being a thing?” Oden answered, “Thor said she went into her concupiscence at their wedding and that Farrin didn’t resist her pheromones.” I rolled my eyes because I hated that damn excuse. We were not just animals; we could resist a Female in heat.
Farrin didn’t even have an animal side. I’d been around Fairies in their concupiscence and she wolves in their heat.
In fact, I’d carried one to her mate and defended a few more.
It wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to do, but I respected the hell out of women and men alike.
Taking someone’s choice away from them was wrong.
I shot Farrin a glare. He actually looked ashamed. Good.
My parents stood, staring at each other.
Grandpa Titus threatened, “If he harms one hair on my granddaughter’s head, he is a dead man.
” My mom put her head into her hands saying, “That is true for ALL your grandchildren and ALL their fucking mates. Can we all please pull our heads out of our asses right now?” I was trying.
She sternly said, “This is about Angela, and she is happy about this. You can all feel how excited she is. I understand the fear and trepidation in this room and it’s because of me.
I get that but I will NOT allow ANY of my children to suffer because of the things that happened to me.
Angela will not be punished for what happened to me as a child. By me or anyone else.”
