Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
I laughed, “He’s tried already…. A lot. You were there… weren’t you? I swear I saw you once… is that magic? Did you wipe her memory with Witches? Did I miss that you tried to leave? Huh… I’ll look into that.” Eden looked at me, shocked.
I added, “They’ve actually done that with Addison and Sierra. Sierra was almost forcibly marked in the middle of the pack… I swear you were there… I’ll have to ask Dax. Anyway… they’ve had three marriages lined up for Addison and Sierra. They just can’t beat me in a fight to ship them off.”
Eden snarled, “I HATE you, Jean! I hate you! She’s our pup! Dax will NEVER let that stand. At least I know my son will change things here. You repulse me!” She turned and left. Beta Jean looked broken. Did they actually take their memories?
I offered, “You know… you don’t have to make them hate you.
You can be better people. I realize without one hell of a story about why you are this way…
that’s difficult….but I’m sure you were once upon a time.
I mean... logically you had to be. Those are amazing women you have that you had pups with prove that.
Obviously, you didn’t suck at one point. ”
Edward shouted, “Would you just SHUT UP for once! My mate HATES me. My son HATES me! My daughter HATES ME! Is that not enough for you?” I raised an eyebrow replying, “The better question is when it’s enough for you, not me.
If I could do anything to have my brother in my life and forgive me, I would.
” They both looked guilty for a brief second.
I shrugged, “You both have the ability to change things with your families. You chose not to. Because despite both of your lack of spines… you hold out from them, even though that should be the hardest thing for you to do. You go against your wolves and your blood itself to not protect your pups and your mates.”
Edward snarled, “For the last time, WE ARE PROTECTING THEM!” I sighed sadly, “So you believe. Really what you are doing is pushing away your family. Those men you agreed to marry Sierra and Addison to, to be their chosen mates… Do you know anything about them?”
Alpha Edward said, “We were told they were good, strong men. With Alpha and Beta blood.” I laughed, “Did you even look into them? I told you about the guy that came for Sierra. He’d killed his mates.” Jean blinked several times.
I asked, “Seriously, what did someone do to your memories? I said that…that night. Anyway, those men barely had Alpha blood… and those men are KNOWN for beating women.” Both their faces paled.
I nodded, “Yeah… so if you actually do care about your daughters somewhere deep down… you’re welcome, for my saving them both from two men in particular who are rumored to have killed their own fated mates, and the two chosen ones after that. Go ahead. Punish me.”
I turned and got down on my knees. Neither man moved but I could smell Booker coming. He must have grabbed the whip. I heard him grunting as he beat me with it. I gritted my teeth not letting my cries escape my lips.
Edward eventually shouted, “ENOUGH! Are you crazy?! She’s fighting tonight!” I snorted, “Yeah Booker…. Edward won’t get his cut if I don’t win… which means you don’t.” Booker growled at me, “Watch your tone.”
I laughed, “Or what? You’ll do… nothing. Yeah... I know.” I heard a laugh I knew well, “I see the feisty Melanie McAlister is still feisty.” Alpha Ezra eyed my body up and down. Jean threw me my shirt. I pulled it on.
Alpha Ezra snorted, “You’d better tell Trevor I’m tempted to take her for myself.
She needs a stern hand.” I rolled my eyes muttering, “You wish. I’d never let you touch me.
You’re an enemy of my family. Trevor is just an enemy of mine and he’s only claiming to be my mate… but we all know that’s a lie.”
Alpha Ezra growled, “Eventually I will find your disrespect annoying enough I’ll do something about it.” I shrugged, “Please do. Ask everyone around here how that goes for them.” Alpha Ezra snorted, “You actually think you could beat me.” I didn’t think I could, I knew I could.
I stated as much, “I know I can. Even now… after I’ve been whipped.
... I could take you.” Alpha Ezra growled, “Your family has done enough to mine.” I retorted, “Yes, how dare the allies of Blue Moon go after a man you didn’t even know was your brother.
Who happened to be a rapist. A man who was keeping she wolves.
.. PREGNANT she wolves… on wolfsbane. Yeah… their reaction was beyond justified.”
“Red Run found MY AUNT there pregnant… and held against her will… while her mate, my uncle, was nearly dead. You’re crazy.
All of you are. How you don’t see the price of what you are doing…
I’ll never know. You’re idiots… heck you’re boys playing at the game of life.
You should sit down and let the women play. No one can say we don’t have spines.”
Brooker went to hit me, but I blocked it and broke his nose.
I told him, “You can only hit me when I let you. Something you would do well to remember.” Alpha Ezra sighed, “I should just take her with me. You all have had years, and she’s still spirited and strong willed.
” I urged, “Try it.” I stalked off. Jerks.
Trevor was waiting with his friends. I groaned, “What do you want now?” Trevor smiled mockingly asking, “I can’t want to check on my mate? You know if you’d just come to me this would stop.” I faked throwing up.
I told him, “I don’t know why you’re lying about who I am to you, and I honestly don’t really care. Stop getting in my way. I have things to do, and they don’t involve being anywhere near your wet dog smelling self.”
Trevor growled, “You should be happy you’re mine!
You don’t even have a wolf!” I rolled my eyes even though my heart felt like it was twisting in my chest. I told him, “No one should be happy about having you as a mate. Whoever ends up being yours… god help her. We know it’s not me so just stop.
Everyone also knows it will have to be a chosen since there NO CHANCE you are getting a second chance fated mate. ”
He growled, “I only hurt you so badly because I was in pain from my mate dying!” I retorted, “Which you wouldn’t have done if I was ACTUALLY yours. So… to recap; I’m not yours, and I never will be.” My heart had belonged to my Xander since I was three years old. I was immovably in love with him.
Trevor growled, “Alexander Conners will NEVER want you.” I punched him in the face. I told him, “First of all... He is an ALPHA DUKE, and you will address him as such. Second, I never said anything about him.” Trevor laughed, “Do you think your letters with your brothers are private?”
I looked at him saying, “Do I think anything in this pack anything is private? No. No, I don't. You know my IQ could run circles around yours.” Trevor growled, “I know you want that Alpha. Well, guess what? HE HATES YOU!” I refused to cry in front of him.
I told Trevor, “So you think because he doesn’t want me, I’d just… what? Jump on you?” I laughed, “Sorry, like I said… I’ll hold out for someone whose butt I can’t kick.” Trevor growled, “I have Alpha blood.” The sad thing was he was right.
I snorted, “So you say. Lord knows I haven’t seen it around in any situation… you hide in the damn office when people come here. Like I’d EVER be mated to someone who hides while his pack is under attack. When Caine takes over, he probably won’t even let you be a Warrior.”
Trevor shouted, “I’m the future Gamma!” I laughed mockingly, “I doubt that very seriously. Caine and Dax don’t like you.
Only these goonies you walk around with do.
Caine and Dax fight with the pack while you follow your daddy’s lead and hide like the coward you are.
Do you actually think Caine will name you Gamma? Oh that’s….”
I trailed off and glanced at him, laughing harder, “You do, don’t you? You’re wrong.” One of Trevor's friends, Mark, chimed in, “You used to be so nice when you got here. You were only mean when it was unintentional.”
I retorted, “Yes, well when you think about it you can only offer yourselves congratulations. This pack managed to kill my kindness. Now, I just tell you all that you’re pieces of crap… which again... is mean to crap. I’ll have to come up with something truly awful… yet alarmingly accurate.”
Dax came up to us. He nudged me saying, “Mel, you have your fight.” Trevor tried to bolster up to Dax, “You know you can’t call her that in public.
” Dax’s growl had them all bowing their heads.
Dax said, “I am aware of what to call her public, Trevor. We are within our pack borders. I am also aware you do NOT order me to do a damn thing. Leave Mel alone.” They scattered.
I commented, “My hero.” Dax laughed then sobered when he saw my shirt. He growled, “Damn it! Did my dad do that?! I’ll kick his ass!” I grabbed his arm assuring him, “No. I think they were going to let it go. Booker showed up and you know he hates me.”
Dax growled, “My dad could take him. I don’t know why he doesn’t.
” I shrugged, “Because Booker is your dad’s mentor…
for some reason.” Dax sighed, “I guess. My mom doesn't understand how Alpha Ezra even got involved.” I shrugged because it made sense to me.
Alpha Ezra was a horrible person. Of course he flocked to other horrible people.
Dax drove me to my fight. He turned to me when he parked. He said, “I’d like to come in and cheer you on.” I declined “Sorry, but no… it’s not necessary. I’ve got this.” Dax grabbed my hand and drew my attention to him.
He admitted, “I know who you are in there. I asked around. The Swiffer? Mel, when are you going to realize that neither your parents nor Tristan would have wanted this for you? What would your big brother say if he was still alive? I don’t even think Beta Jason, and you know I think he’s trash, would be ok with this. ”
