Story: The Alpha Enforcer and His Dancing Warrior Vol. 1 (Ribbon #9)
She said, “You are scary with that thing.” I bragged, “Xander is too.” She rolled her eyes saying, “I know that your Xander prefers his broadsword. We are ALL aware.” I huffed and went to the door of the room where the girl was being held. I easily hacked in, and it opened.
She cried, “Please leave me alone today. It still hurts.” I told her, “They will never hurt you again.” She gasped when she saw us. She whispered, “You’re the blue circle group people. Right? You are in all black and have masks on.” Paige snickered.
I grumbled, “The Resistance. We are the Ring Resistance. Why isn’t that obvious?
” I picked her up, “Let’s get you out of here.
” She cried, “I tried once, but I didn’t make it.
” I asked, “Did you even known about Supernatural’s when they took you?
” She answered, “I didn’t.” Odd. She was partial wolf and Fairy.
I asked, “Where are your parents?” Paige hit my arm as we got to the elevator.
I asked, “Why are you hitting me?” Paige said, “That’s not a nice thing to ask.
” The girl said, “It’s fine. I was left at a Fire station.
” I hummed, “I see.” There was no way to know if her mom or dad gave her wolf or Fairy blood.
I took her to one of my safe houses then took off our masks.
She gasped, “You guys are like, my age!” I went to answer but she grabbed both my hands.
She insisted, “I want in.” I asked, “Huh?” Paige said, “She wants to join the Resistance.” She reasoned, “I have nothing to go back to. I’m not the girl who was the life of the party anymore.
They stole her and I can’t do it.” Paige said, “You can get her back.”
The girl stared at me. She pointed, “I can see in your eyes you know I can’t.
You feel that ache for your old self that I do, but she’s dead.
She’s changed. Let me do this. I need to fight back.
” I sighed, “You’re a partial Were…” She cut me off, “I know now what I am. A Werewolf / Fairy hybrid. They were disappointed I don’t have a wolf. ”
Some hybrids with Fairy blood didn’t get their wolf until they were marked. I just wasn’t going to give her false hope. I asked, “What’s your name?” She answered, “Olivia. I’m smart, I swear. I can help! I’m advanced and I studied biological attacks and counters to them.”
I glanced at Paige. She was trying not to laugh.
I nudged her, “She can make poison… we are totally missing that element.” Paige snorted, “It’s only missing because you like to shoot people.
” I grinned, “But Olivia can add a different facet to the Resistance. I like it. Welcome to the Resistance, Olivia.”
Valentina shimmered in with Celia and the latter gave me a look. I said, “I didn’t do it.” She sighed and got to work. Paige whispered, “Are you sure about this girl?” I was because I felt an instant kinship with Olivia.
I answered, “Yes, she’ll fit right in. She’s a missing piece we didn’t know we needed until now.” She snorted, “Ok, but Caine will be pissed about this.” Yeah, he would be. We were supposed to wait… and as a Beta Blood I should’ve listened to him.
That thought nearly crushed me because I wasn’t a Beta blood. Mom was Warrior blood though… so I should still listen to him. In my defense, it was the wrong call…and I’d made the right one. It still hurt my soul though.
Flashback Ends
Caine said, “She’s not new, but I agree. I’m here for you putting your brother in his place. Because your parents and older brother WOULD be ashamed of him.” I hummed, “It must have worked, because none of the rest of them have called to chastise me….” Tears filled my eyes.
Paige hugged me gently this time whispering, “Mel…” I cried, “He didn’t even say happy birthday. He was just mad at me. He’s always mad…. and it’s so exhausting all the time… he must be so tired.” She snorted, “Well, he deserves that, but you don’t.”
The rest of the night was a haze of alcohol. I was going to sit on Black Mountain’s border to see my REAL mate, but Trevor got in the way. I woke up in my room at Hendrick and Mason’s house. I asked, “How did I get here?”
Mason answered, “Caine found you and brought you here.” I hummed, “Did I fight Trevor?” Hendrick snorted, “According to Caine, you fought Trevor, Francis, and Mark.” I shrugged, “So a normal day.”
Edward banged on their door shouting, “Open up, I know she’s in here!
” Hendrick sighed and did so. He growled, “You can’t attack pack members!
” I replied, “We all know he attacked me… we also all know you’ll ignore your duty and protect him.
So… what’s the point of this conversation?
” He snorted, “You have a Huntress duty. Killing more Omegas.” He grinned evilly at me.
Little did he know I’d never a killed a single person that wasn’t bad.
They kept bringing in small Hunter groups that I gave the choice to embrace their real purpose, or I killed and pretended to be them.
I was easily saving thousands of people my way.
Then I was sending those Omegas to the allied packs I came from.
I glanced at the list. I startled, “This is a pack doctor.” Uh oh.
I had recently rescued someone from this pack who asked me to save her sister.
She said her brother in law was the pack doctor.
Why would they move on this pack again so quickly?
That was totally against their regular pattern.
I hadn’t had time to look up the family and work on getting them out.
Edward winked, “Get moving. You’re meeting the group coming in.” I sighed and went and got into my Huntress gear. I sent a coded message to Anastasia, so she’d know which group we were impersonating next.
I did research on the doctor. His name was Ezekiel, and it had been discovered he was running away because his daughter was going to be auctioned off. It sounded like that was a set up, so I dove further into it. I easily found the answers I was looking for.
His mate’s younger sister was someone we rescued recently. His mistake, and his wife’s, was trusting her brother. He betrayed them to the Alpha because they’d threatened his pups. Great I was going into a cluster of a situation.
I dove back into Ezekiel’s life. He had Gamma blood. I snorted, “Getting too big for our britches there now Dante. A Gamma blood could take Hunters… ugh… stupid.” Rescuing him was going to be a problem.
At this point, as the voice of the forgotten, Ashley Griffen was known around here. Ezekiel was going to put it together that Red One was Ashley, but there was nothing I could do about that. I left and got on my motorcycle.
Once I got to the scheduled location, I moved my motorcycle out of sight. I didn’t have time to look up the family, but my senses were telling me this was that same woman’s family I’d saved previously.
I met up with two of their group. I easily spotted they were mates, and they probably didn’t even know. I said, “I’ll be in the trees.” They snorted, “Whatever. You just have to help with the Gamma blood.” Yeah, no.
Once they left me alone, I tapped the buttons on my watch to get my Resistance gear. I climbed the tree and waited. Maybe the brother will have second thoughts… maybe he would do the right thing. I whispered, “Don’t show up. Don’t show up.”
I just needed a happier story than mine. I needed another brother not to betray his sister because, just this once, I was acknowledging Jason betrayed me. My hope vanished when I saw them arrive. How it hurt my soul at this point I wasn’t certain. I barely had one left.
The woman was beside herself and the doctor was carrying his daughters. He stopped and glared at the brother in law. He smelled the Hunters, which wasn’t surprising. His brother in law asked, “Ezekiel, what are you doing?”
Ezekiel practically snarled, “What have you done?” His wife turned to him in surprise. He growled, “I have Gamma blood, John. I can smell them.” John cringed, “They threatened my little girl. I had to. I’m sorry.” He fled, leaving them behind.
I muttered to myself, “That’s a clear sign not to rescue him… I would’ve if he stayed, but he left. So, he should think he got them killed… that’s a thing… Fairies would say it was fair… Xander is a Fairy… so he’d be proud of my logic. Yup. Going with it.”
Ezekiel’s wife cried, “Ezekiel.” He whispered to her, “Donna, it’s going to be ok.” Hunters surrounded them, but they were waiting for me because they couldn’t take him. Donna cried, “Oh my poor sister. Dorothy went out this way too.” Nope. Not true at all.
Dorothy impressed me with her self-defense. She’d watched my Xander’s videos and taught herself. I was proud of him like I hoped he was proud of my persona, Ashley. I also acknowledged this was the family Dorothy asked me to get out.
Ezekiel shifted, ready to fight for his family. One Hunter sneered, “I’ll take you down first and you’ll watch me rape your weak wife and break your pups one by one.” I rolled my eyes. Ok, so no chance given for him. He was dying.
Several in the group looked excited, but the two I’d talked to didn’t. They looked disgusted and horrified. Ok, I could give them a chance. They could hear the truth and decide what to do from there. If they were a problem, then I’d kill them too.
Ezekiel’s wolf snarled as the group mocked him. Had they ever taken on a wolf? He’d get more of them for that comment alone. Donna screamed, “Ezekiel, they have silver weapons!” All Hunters did. It was really the only thing they had because at this point, they were lazy Hunters.
Plus, they weren’t meant to Hunt Werewolves, or Supernatural’s, at all.
I’d had enough. I shot the ones that weren’t being given a chance in rapid succession.
I left the ones I’d talked to earlier alive to get some answers.
I jumped down and entered the field. Ezekiel was hovering around his family.
