My mom said, “Well, now you’re with us. So, you two are with us against the world.
” To my shock, Lindsey Sherwood burst into the house.
My mom asked, “Lindsey, are you ok?” She growled, “MINE!” Holy shit.
The human guy was her second chance mate.
He shrugged, “Sucks to be you fellas because I’m pretty sure that beautiful woman is talking about me. ”
I snorted, “She is.” The girl jumped up and asked, “Are you my mommy? Did you finally come back? I’ve seen you before.” Lindsey asked, “You have?” She nodded, “In my dreams. I’m positive you’re my mommy.” Lindsey picked her up and went over to the man.
She introduced herself, “I’m Lindsey Sherwood.” He kissed the top of her head then shook himself. He apologized, “Sorry, it just felt like…” She interrupted, “Don’t apologize, I liked it.” He said, “Well, I’m Tenn. My mom thinks she’s funny.”
My mom asked, “What does his name have to do with his mom being fucking funny?” I answered, “He’s from Tennessee and his name is Tenn.” She didn’t make a face, but I felt in the bond she thought that was kind of silly. EJ chuckled out loud.
Lindsey asked, “Where is your mom?” He admitted, “I told her to get out of the state when Lark got kidnapped.” My mom physically jolted.
I felt her walls slam into place quite firmly.
I asked, “Mom?” She whispered, “Lark?” The little girl said, “Momma named me. She gave me this too.” She showed my mom a necklace.
My mom conjured a different one. She said, “What if we traded? This one is very shiny and from Faerie.” She squealed, “OK!” She took the necklace and handed my mom the other one. Tessa, our Female Lead Warrior, came in.
She announced, “I hear there’s a special little girl that needs to see the pack.” Lark asked, “Me?” She nodded, “Yup. I’ve got a group of pups clamoring to meet you and go on a tour.” She whispered, “They are my hellions.” Lark giggled.
Tessa winked, “We call them pups, but I’m certain mine are hellions.
They have never seen a clean area they did not make messy.
” My mom snorted, “That’s just children in fucking general.
” Tenn agreed, “Preach, sister.” My mom said, “I am not a pastor.” I bit my lip.
Tenn chuckled, “You’re quite literal.” Lindsey assured him, “She really is.”
When they left my dad asked, “Angel?” She said, “I know the family the name comes from.” My Uncle Aiden popped in. He asked, “What’s going on?” She showed him the necklace and he reached for it, snatching it away.
He whispered, “Where did you get this?” She answered, “From the little girl my sons brought back from their mission.” He asked, “Where is she?!” I asked, “What’s going on?
” My mom assured him, “She’s fine, Aiden.
She’s being shown the pack.” Tenn asked, “Do you know her mother?” Aiden answered, “I know the family she came from.” Tenn muttered, “Her name was weird.”
My mom snorted, “Of fucking course it was.” He admitted, “I was shocked Lark had a normal name. She just left her on my doorstep. I knew she was pregnant and went to her appointments. It wasn’t some love affair or soul mates.
She was just a one night stand I was trying to do right by.
She ran off on me, then left Lark. I had the DNA test confirm she was mine.
I can take care of my little girl, I swear. ”
I said, “You obviously can. Sadly, you were just up against Supernatural’s without any other than your partial daughter on your side. That’s who took her.” My mom said, “They are likely adjacent to the Ring.” That had all our attention.
I asked, “Huh? What’s the Ring?” She answered, “Bad people that we fight against.” I asked, “How do you know that? The mission we were on wasn’t that high level.” She answered, “Her name is Lark.” Ok? Oden told me, “If it helps Thor is very confused.”
I asked, “Are we related to Lark?” I didn’t get a very comforting sense in her presence, but I’d been distracted. Uncle Aiden answered, “No, she is related to me.” Tenn snorted, “And are you the King?” My mom answered, “He is.”
Lindsey caught him when his knees buckled.
He insisted, “I was JOKING!” Uncle Aiden said, “Well, I was not.” I asked, “What the fuck is going on?” My mom explained, “There was a group of your Grandpa Fenilton’s family that did not side with the Holloran’s when we rose up against the previous family. ”
Mom had met Uncle Aiden’s dad in the Beyond and he requested to be called our Grandpa. She agreed so that’s what we call him. I wished we could’ve met him when he was alive because he sounded awesome.
She sighed, “There was a Hayes mated to one of their earth family members. Her name was Lark, and that necklace was given to signify the Hayes and the earth family’s lines. The woman who went against the Hayes’ and your Grandpa Fenilton was named Lark.”
I asked, “What the fuck were they doing with the Lark we found then?” Uncle Aiden answered, “They were going to have her father killed and have her moved back to their facilities more than likely. Based on some research I read, they were toying with what a child with love versus not could do.” My mom’s walls clamped down further.
She said, “Don’t worry Tenn, we will make sure nothing happens to Lark.
” Uncle Aiden said, “I will destroy this necklace to send them a message she’s ours now.
” He asked, “Who the fuck are these people?” Lindsey assured him, “We will protect Lark. I know that Fairy family is truly awful on all levels, but we will protect her.” She’d see her as her own pup now.
He asked, “And what are you? Do you melt things too like little Lark?” She snorted, “No, I’m a Werewolf.” He nodded, “Sure, why not. Fairies and Werewolves.” I said, “You were being forced to work with Warlocks.” Several people groaned.
My mom yelled, “ARE YOU SERIOUS?! WARLOCK WARTS?! MOTHER FUCKER!” Uncle Bjourn said, “Don’t you dare leave, little one. We will DISCUSS this, and those Warlocks are already in our custody.” Or they would be shortly. They were definitely being watched.
I asked, “Why haven’t you popped to the people who betrayed Grandpa Fen if you knew they did?” My mom answered, “We haven’t been able to, but you and your siblings have always been an exception to that.” I knew she was proud of us for that, but it worried her.
We’d been met with resistance a few times. Others we’d been able to get close by, but not all the way through. Uncle Aiden snorted, “And I mistakenly assumed they would not be out there having kids with humans.” Lindsey was rubbing her hand up and down Tenn’s back.
He said, “It was an Oops. Nothing quite nefarious like you seem to think.” Uncle Aiden snorted, “And how long was your one night stand?” He winced, “It was more than a night, she was crazy.” I laughed, “Wait until Faerie hears a human lasted through her concupiscence.” He snorted, “She used toys when I needed to sleep.” Still, it was impressive.
Lindsey growled, “I want her dead for trying to kill my mate and take ou…” She trailed off then said, “his daughter.” I linked her, “I actually don’t think he’d mind if you called her yours.
” She said, “Well, we tend to take things much slower with human mates than this.” I reasoned, “He’s got a partial Fairy daughter so the rules probably don’t apply to him anymore.
” His daughter was even from a very powerful and Royal family line. Two technically.
He said, “Gosh, I’m just falling all over this beautiful woman.” He straightened. She said, “You’re my mate. I know that probably doesn’t make sense to you, but it’s everything to me.” He snorted, “Things have not made sense to me for five years and change. My daughter was a preemie.”
He paused then admitted, “Well in my mind she is, but the doctors said she was fully developed. I argued with them something fierce about it too. I could tell they thought I was a sap until the DNA test came back that she was mine. They were stunned.”
He snorted, “Then things started to melt around my little girl if she got too mad. Plus, she made her bottles appear to her if I took too long. She smirked at me as she did it too. She did that for about two weeks and I’m certain it was a game.” It definitely was.
He added, “I think she thought it was funny how I jolted awake when she cried. I also never changed a poopy diaper. She did NOT like poop touching her skin. At first, I was worried she wasn’t pooping. The doctors again thought I was a wackadoodle.”
My mom asked, “They hit you?” He snorted, “No, they thought I was insane.” My mom shot my dad a look and he just grinned. Tenn waved, “Anyway, I’ll have to tell my mom I’ve got Lark back. I thought for sure I was going to die.”
Lindsey growled. He chuckled, “Damn. You really a wolf. Alright. Anyway, I didn’t want to do what those people asked me to.
I have no idea what they were doing, I just wanted my little girl back.
They got her signed out of her school when I was at work.
I would’ve died before I let anyone take her from me. ”
Lindsey assured him, “No one here doubts you. Haley is our Luna and Eric is our Alpha. The two boys that brought you here are our future Alpha’s.” He snorted, “You’re saying they are teleporting Werewolves?”
I let my eyes blaze, “And we are Hackura.” He said, “I have not heard of that one.” Uncle Bjourn replied, “And you wouldn’t have if you weren’t brought into the supernatural world.” He chuckled, “And let me guess, you’re the King of the hack….” He trailed off then waved at me, “Whatever he said.”
Uncle Bjourn answered, “I am.” He snorted, “You’re shitting me.” I bit my lip knowing my mom was about to say something. I felt amusement all around the bond. Mom asked, “What the fuck? You want him to shit on you?”
Tenn groaned, “No, absolutely not. I was just shocked.” She grumbled, “This fucking realm and its damn sayings.” Uncle Aiden said, “I would like to meet Lark.” Tenn asked suspiciously, “Why?”
