I raised a brow, "So what's for breakfast?" I questioned, knowing she had made pancakes, but that there was other stuff too.
Mili hummed, "Just my famous blueberry pancakes with fruit and bacon," she said as we pulled away to set the table up.
"Oh, famous?" I questioned, clearly teasing her as I grabbed the plate of blueberry pancakes and the bowl of fresh fruit.
Mili laughed as she followed behind me, "Yeah—Mya always requests them anytime she's near me. Even when I'm home for the holidays, my family begs me to make them," she said, easily making my brows raise.
"Oh? Well, in that case, I can't wait to try them," I determined, knowing that they smelled amazing.
Mili smirked, "Are you sure? Because once you have these, you can't go back," she said, clearly joking but at the same time, I knew she was being partially serious.
I only smiled as I carefully sat the plate and bowl down at the long black table, "Maybe I don't want to go back," I said, analyzing all the different pictures she had spread across the table as she sat down the plate of bacon and the pitcher of orange juice before returning to the kitchen to grab the rest of the stuff.
Meanwhile, I could only remain stuck frozen as I stared at all the different pictures.
Especially one of the pictures, which managed to catch my eye completely.
It was the one from the cave—where Mili had me facing away from the camera, easily capturing my spine along with my shadowed figure.
It was so weird—it's like I knew it was me and it looked like me, but Mili seemed to capture me in a different light.
It was so incredible how she could do that.
"What are these?" I asked as she stopped right at the table.
Mili sat the plates and silverware down along with the bowl in her hand, "It's some options for my upcoming gallery show."
I raised a brow, "Gallery show? That sounds exciting," I said, clearly excited to hear more about her work.
Mili smiled slightly, "Yeah—although this one won't be for sale," she determined, carefully picking up the one of me.
I raised a brow, "Not even if someone offers a million for it?"
"Not at all," Mili said without hesitation.
I smirked slightly, "What about a billion?"
I honestly just wanted to see how far she'd take this.
It really didn't bother me if she sold the picture, but clearly it bothers her.
Mili's face grew with amusement as she gathered the pictures into a neat stack so we'd have room to eat, "Let's just say that there isn't a price I'd ever sell it at," she said, sitting down at the table.
I didn't hesitate to sit down on the black wooden bench beside her, "Oh? That's a pretty big deal," I teased her as Mili guided both of my legs over one of her legs.
Mili hummed as she made both of our plates, "That's because you're a pretty big deal," she said, pressing a fleeting kiss to my cheek.
And I couldn't help but raise my brows when she suddenly drizzled a blueberry sauce from one of the pots she brought over.
The sauce smelt so sweet and it had small little blueberries in it.
I swear my mouth was watering just looking at it.
Mili lightly drizzled the pancakes with the warm maple syrup, "Okay, first bite honors," she said, cutting into my pancake before holding the small bite to my lips.
I smiled slightly, parting my lips as she slid the warm bite of pancakes into my mouth.
Mili carefully analyzed my face as I chewed the perfectly soft and sweet pancake—and I swear it made my mouth water for more.
I swallowed slightly, "That's... one hundred percent the best pancake I've ever had," I said, and I didn't mean that lightly.
It really was incredible.
Mili's lips twitched up into a subtle smile, "I told you that you'd never go back," she said, pouring us both a glass of orange juice from the pitcher.
I hummed, cutting another bite of the pancake, "It's official—you're opening your own pancake place."
Mili laughed, "As long as you work with me, I'm down," she said, taking a sip of her orange juice.
I hummed as I chewed on the small bite of pancakes, "I don't know... I don't think we'd get any work done," I said, knowing that Mili and I would definitely end up of somewhere not fulfilling our imaginary pancake duties.
"Yeah, that definitely sounds like us," Mili agreed as she cut into her pancake.
And I couldn't help but smile at her statement.
We're an us...
I unconsciously leaned into Mili's side as I continued digging into the amazing breakfast she had prepared.
Everything felt so indescribably perfect—from the warmth of Mili's presence to the delicious breakfast, and even the morning sky beyond the wall of the windows.
It seriously felt like I was in paradise.
Or more like Mili is my paradise.
—
A giggle fell from my lips when Mili placed yet another kiss on my lips.
We had finished breakfast a little under thirty minutes ago, and now I had to leave for classes—luckily I had already showered and got ready for the day before I went to say goodbye to Mya.
Wearing last night's clothes would be a little suspicious—even if I slept in Mili's clothes, which she'd definitely recognize.
"I have to go to class, Milan," I said, trying to be serious, when all I wanted to do was skip class and spend the day with her.
But we both had classes that we definitely needed to attend.
Mili hummed against my lips, "It's so sexy when you bring out the government name," she said, gently tugging my waist into her warm body.
I couldn't help but whine against her lips, "You're making it so hard to leave," I said as we both pulled back slightly.
Mili only mimicked my whine, "You're making it harder—how do you always look so good?" she said, pressing a soft fleeting kiss to my lips.
And before I could reciprocate it, she was forcing herself to take a large step back from me.
"You should really leave before I drag you back to bed," Mili warned me.
But I could only smirk, "Oh, I like the sound of that," I said verging closer to her.
Mili raised a brow, "Someone's bold today," she determined, gently halting my steps as her hands settled at my waist—easily turning me back around to the door. And before I could say anything else, she leaned into my ear and said, "Leave before I change my mind."
My face grew warm, imagining a scenario where we skipped classes and went back to bed—but not for sleep.
Mili reached past me to open the door, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to the side of my neck and then my cheek, "Come over after classes," she suddenly murmured in my ear.
A smile grew on my lips, "Okay," I whispered, turning my head slightly so she could press a brief kiss to my lips.
"Good, I'll see you later," she said as I walked out of her apartment entirely.
And just like that, we were apart again—living our separate lives as we both attended our separate classes.
It was so odd how my morning spent with her felt like a fever dream.
Honestly, I questioned whether I dreamt it or not.
The questionable thoughts alone made me want to rush back to her place as soon as I could.
I knew it would make my classes tick by at an unbearable rate, waiting for the moment that I could be back in her loft and warm arms.
I suddenly looked down at my phone which buzzed with a message.
I smiled at the text—already missing Mya's light presence as I texted her to be safe and that I loved her more.
It's like I missed her, but I also knew these next two weeks would be really good for me as well.
That'll give me one-on-one time with Mili—without sneaking around too much, lying even more, and most importantly, they'll give us time to solidify this before telling Mya.
It honestly felt like a blessing in disguise from the universe—basically calming the chaos down for a moment so I could get my thoughts and feelings together.
And right now, my thoughts and feelings are leaning toward the idea of telling Mya about Mili and me when she gets back.
