Page 119 of HER SISTER
"Ati, be still."
I giggled, "But it tickles," I whispered as I tried to remain put as she carefully layered the ointment on.
Mili only shook her head to herself as she glanced up through the mirror, and said—
"They're going to know."
And yes, I knew that our friends would immediately know that our break was over.
Of course, that was obvious.
But Mili's not referring to that.
She's referring to the fact that they'll know about how crazy we just fucked each other.
"It can't be that bad," I said.
Mili immediately gave me a deadpan look, clearly disagreeing with me.
"Look at your back—and look at my neck," Mili said as she turned my back to the mirror.
And low and behold, the red scratches running down my back.
Mili had covered them in ointment to make sure I would be all good, but they still don't seem like they'll fade until at least tomorrow.
And then onto Mili's neck—which seemed to have small subtle bruises from me sucking and nipping at her skin.
They really don't even have to ask us anything—
Anyone with eyes will immediately know what went down between us.
"Well, it's obvious who topped who," I subtly murmured under my breath.
Mili raised a brow at me, "What did you just say?" she said as she suddenly grabbed my chin and forced me to look at her.
I stared up at her innocently, "What me? I didn't say anything," I said, clearly playing it off.
Mili nodded once as she looked down between my eyes, "Right... because the ones who top can repeat themselves," she determined.
And I couldn't miss her sudden amused smile when I gave her a narrowed look.
But before I could say anything, Mili managed to say, "But I'd love to hear you repeat yourself Atiana."
Just like that, my face was burning red, knowing that if I really did repeat myself we'd probably miss jet skiing altogether.
"I didn't say anything," I whispered, fighting back my shy smile.
Mili hummed to herself, "That's what I thought," she determined as she reached up to gently pull some of the baby hairs out of my ponytail to frame my face, "Otherwise, a lot of people would've been hearing my name tonight."
I fake pouted, "Why can't you just let me have my moment?" I said as I looked up at her.
Mili's lips twitched up into an amused smirk, "Because then you forget who's who—"
I inaudibly gasped when she turned me around and easily pressed her hand to my back— forcing me to bend over the cold bathroom counter.
A warmth immediately prickled my skin as soon as Mili gripped the end of my ponytail and pulled my head back, "Did you want me to show you? Or did you prefer to walk?" she casually asked me.
I peered back at her through the mirror, feeling my face burn and my jaw tighten.
And as a silence grew between us, Mili raised a brow, clearly wanting a verbal answer from me.
"I know who's who," I finally said.
Mili gently let go of my ponytail, "Good to know," she murmured as she guided me to stand fully before pressing a soft kiss to the back of my neck.
It was so odd how her soft actions easily contrasted her previous ones.
We both had two very different sides to us.
"Ready?" Mili murmured against my shoulder that she had pressed a brief kiss to.
I hummed as I grabbed her hands and circled her arms around my waist, "Just a few more seconds," I said, clearly trying to take in what was left of our alone time.
Mili tightened her arms around my waist and pulled me back into her body, "I love you," she murmured.
A smile grew on my lips as my eyes met hers in the large mirror, "I love you too," I whispered.
And just like that, we remained put for a few more minutes, clearly basking in the silence and each other's company.
—
"No fucking way."
I felt my lips twitch up into a slow smile as I leaned into Mili's side, suddenly feeling shy as Mya, Ryder, Arielle, and Damon silently stared at us.
They seemed to be in the middle of eating—given that there were numerous different foods spread out on the kitchen island.
Meanwhile, everyone else seemed to be out by the pool still.
"See I fucking told you guys," Mya said.
Arielle hummed, "I knew it was wraps when Desi and Xiomara were nowhere to be found," she determined as she popped a grape into her mouth.
I felt my brows raise, not realizing Desi took it upon herself to leave all together.
Maybe she knew the aftermath might be awkward.
Ryder shook his head, "Nah, I called it as soon as Mi randomly knew about Ana's hand," he said, clearly recalling this morning's topic about my bandaged hand, and what went on last night.
"Well, I knew as soon as Mili stopped calling her Ana," Damon pointed out as he ate more of his fries.
I couldn't help but laugh, "Okay we get it—you guys knew," I said, knowing that they'd go in circles with this topic until someone stopped them.
Mya only hummed as her eyes analyzed both of us, "So was it PARTYNEXTDOOR or TheWeeknd?" she casually asked us.
And I couldn't even stop my lips from parting at her very straightforward question.
Mili laughed slightly, "Okay, chill for real," she told her sister.
Meanwhile, Arielle only raised a brow, "I don't know, I think they went for more of the oldies," she determined, which easily made my face grow hotter.
Damon nodded a few times, "Trey Songz type vibe," he added as he fed his girlfriend some of his fries.
And before Mili or I could say something, Ryder was saying, "Nah, I was thinking Chris Brown."
Mya hummed, "I don't know Jhené Aiko has great love-making songs—"
"Nah, okay, let's cut the topic right there," Mili cut her sister short, and I couldn't help but shake my head at them all, feeling my face practically burn with a hot blush.
I swear you can never get anything past them.
Mya laughed a few times, "Fineee but we need to do something to celebrate. Maybe we could go somewhere tonight?" she asked as she ate some of her fruit.
I nodded a few times at the idea, feeling excited to celebrate our freshly ended break.
However, before I could answer Mya's question, Mili was saying—
"Ati's mine tonight, but we could try for tomorrow."
Automatically, Mya gave her sister a narrowed look, "You're already stealing her from me? Really Milan?"
Meanwhile, I could only look to Mili with an amused smile, "I wasn't aware we had anything planned for tonight?" I whispered to her.
Mili's lips twitched up slightly as her dark eyes fell on me, "That's the point baby—It's a surprise," she murmured as she pressed a brief kiss to my lips before pressing a chaste kiss to my cheek.
I felt my smile grow wider, already finding her efforts cute.
I seriously don't know how she could've planned something so quickly, but I definitely wasn't complaining.
"Hello? Lovebirds? Does someone want to queue us into what you're talking about?" Mya suddenly called out, which easily snapped Mili and I's attention back over to our friends.
Ryder laughed, "Why does it feel like we're all third-wheeling them right now?" he said, which easily earned a laugh from both Arielle and Damon who were busy eating their food at the kitchen island.
"Because you are," Mili blankly added.
I couldn't help but nudge Mili slightly before saying, "No, you guys aren't—maybe we could still celebrate tomorrow—" I suddenly looked to Mya, "—We could go to that dinner spot that you found on TikTok?"
A smile automatically grew on Mya's lips, "I'm so down," she said as she stole some fries from Ryder's plate, "Now let's head down to the beach before we lose our slots."
I happily nodded as I slid my arm around Mili's torso.
Mili hummed in response, tightening her grip around my waist as she placed a brief kiss to my temple.
And almost as if I had forgotten that Mili and I were ever a part—the rest of our friends out by the pool managed to look just as surprised by our ended break.
It felt like a re-run of the previous events as they all managed to grasp that we weren't on a break anymore, especially after everything with Xiomara and Desi.
Literally, the entire walk down to the beach consisted of everyone talking about Mili and me—and by the time we had made it to the rented jet skis, I determined that everyone had missed us together more than I actually realized.
"Yes just like that," Mili said as her hands smoothed over my own.
I pursed my lips, "I don't think I want to drive anymore," I determined as we remained seated on the jet ski at shore.
Mili laughed, "Weren't you just whining and pouting about it a few minutes ago?"
I shrugged as I looked down at the steering wheel, "I don't know, this seems complicated. What if I flip us or something?" I murmured in thought.
And my words alone earned another beautiful laugh from Mili's lips, "You're not going to flip us, Ati. Besides, I'll be right here helping you," she assured me as she ran her hands up and down the sides of my shoulders.
I let out a dramatic sigh, "Fine but can you take over after five minutes?" I whispered as I turned my head slightly to meet her stare.
Mili hummed, "Of course beautiful," she murmured as she leaned down to press a fleeting kiss to my lips.
I smiled happily as I turned back around and turned the jet ski on.
Automatically, Mili slid her hands back over mine to help me steer.
"Remember slow and—"
A yelp fell from my lips as soon as I cranked the gas a little too much.
"Sorry," I whispered as Mili's other hand instinctively reached down to my waist to steady me in place.
Mili only hummed, "It's all good—" she suddenly leaned down to my ear, "—Just match my pace," she instructed, and as her warm breath fell down onto my neck, goosebumps seemed to coat my skin.
I swear she's just naturally attractive on her own—like she's not even trying to affect me, and yet she is.
A deep breath fell from my lips as I focused on her hand over mine—which was now barely turning the throttle.
I suddenly looked away from our hands as I slowly twisted the throttle with her, which made the jet ski breeze forward in a smoother motion.
A slow smile grew on my lips as the wind breezed peacefully past us, causing me to increase the speed just a little at a time.
"There you go," Mili said as she pressed a fleeting kiss to the skin of my neck.
I hummed as I leaned back into her body—basking in how warm the breezy air felt and how perfectly the sun shined on my face.
"This is nice," I murmured as I sped up the jet ski more.
Mili slid one of her arms around my waist while her other hand remained put over mine, "See, I knew you'd be good," she said.
I only laughed slightly, "I still want you to drive. It's kind of stressful trying to control this thing," I admitted, knowing that I'd rather be cuddled into Mili's body while she drives.
Mili laughed, "Okay baby, we can stop at the docks coming up," she said, and automatically, I spotted the docks that she was referring to.
Soon I was navigating the jet ski over to the docks where Mili and I seemed to switch spots.
And automatically, Mili seemed to drive much quicker and smoother, which allowed me to relax into the back of her body while I took in the sparkling blue water.
"Nah, what is Mya doing?" Mili suddenly laughed as she slowed the jet ski down.
And as soon as I looked over to Ryder and Mya's stopped jet ski, I couldn't help but laugh—
Noticing Ryder still seated with Mya standing up behind him twerking to a Drake song.
"How did they even connect to the Bluetooth?" I laughed as I took in the hilarious scene.
Ryder seemed to be shaking his head at us as Mya's hands rested on his shoulders for support of her wild dancing.
"Ana get up girl!" Mya yelled out as Damon and Arielle seemed to stop near us.
And as I went to stand up slightly, Mili managed to say, "You better not."
I only pressed a kiss to her cheek, "Sorry not sorry Lani," I giggled as I joined in on Mya's dancing while my hands rested on Mili's shoulders.
Just like that, Arielle was joining in too, which easily earned laughs from us all—meanwhile, Ryder, Damon, and Mili seemed to be entirely unamused.
Especially when a boat passed by and honked at us while the people onboard wolf-whistled.
"Yeah you're done," Mili said as she reached behind her to pull me back down.
And as soon as I was seated, Mili seemed to pull my arm around her waist and slowly pull off.
"Way to be a buzz kill, M!" Mya called out, which easily earned an eye roll from Mili.
"Yeah, and way to be a bad influence," Mili managed to counter her sister's statement, and I couldn't help but laugh when Mya managed to flick Mili off in response—which easily earned a laugh from Mili as well.
Oddly enough, today felt like the real first day of vacation for me.
And I swear I'm already basking it in.
