Page 21 of HER SISTER

"I just feel so guilty when I'm with you," I admitted, knowing that I was actively lying to Mya.

Mili nodded, taking a sip of her drink, "The promise?" she questioned, referring to Mya and I's promise.

"Yeah, but I just—I don't know, it's like I feel guilty, but at the same time, I don't know if I'm ready to tell her," I said, expressing how conflicted I felt over the situation, "I just want to make sure this is solid—that we both know what we want."

It was very hard for me to even speak the words aloud, knowing that I was basically saying I wanted to continue to keep this from Mya until we could figure this all out.

Mili suddenly motioned me over, causing me to slide down the couch, "Honestly speaking, I don't think it's a bad idea," she said, easily agreeing with me as her arm instinctively slid around my waist, "And I don't think you're in the wrong for wanting this all to be figured out before you tell Mya. "

I let out a relieved sigh as I leaned into her side, "Yeah? Because I feel like a really bad friend."

Mili pulled me in closer to her, "You're not a bad friend, Ati—although, you're definitely bad with nicknames," she joked, easily lightening the mood.

"Um, I'm amazing with nicknames, Lani," I argued back, playfully nudging her.

Mili only laughed, easily sending my thoughts into a frenzy.

It was so indescribably beautiful.

"In all seriousness, we'll figure it out—it'll all be fine," Mili assured me, pressing a soft kiss to my temple.

I pursed my lips, "It'll be fine," I whispered mostly to myself.

Mili hummed, "When the time comes, we can sit her down together and explain it to her—I really don't think she'll be too upset, but she might need a moment to process it all," she explained, and it made me feel somewhat better knowing that she knew Mya better than me.

Yet, the entire situation still wasn't predictable. Even Mili couldn't predict how Mya would react to all of this.

"I just hope she doesn't hate me for lying," I admitted, and almost instantly I could hear how weak my voice grew.

And Mili noticed it too.

Especially when she pulled back from me to meet my eyes.

"I don't think anyone could possibly hate you," Mili said, gently resting her hand on the side of my neck as she angled my head up to get a better view of me, "She might be mad at first, but I genuinely think she'll move past it, especially with the right explanation."

I frowned, "I really hope so," I said, knowing that it was a very unpredictable situation.

Mili leaned down to me, pressing a tender kiss to my lips that I easily reciprocated.

Her lips were so soft and comforting as they moved against mine so perfectly.

Mili pulled back slightly, "Your smile is too pretty to be frowning like that," she said, easily causing my lips to twitch up into a smile.

Mili easily pressed another brief kiss to my lips before she pulled away, easily reciprocating my smile.

"So beautiful," she murmured, glancing down at my lips as my smile managed to grow wider.

I bashfully looked away from her, "Thank you," I whispered, feeling so shy from her compliments that I thought I might explode.

Mili only guided me back to her, "Don't hide from me," she said as my face burned with the fiercest heat.

I shook my head at her, "You know I'm shy," I forced out, glancing between her eyes before inevitably looking down at her lips.

I swear it felt like I couldn't stop kissing her.

Or touching her.

Or even looking at her.

She's just so...

Perfect.

"Kiss me," Mili murmured, and not even a second later, I was closing the very small gap between us, allowing our lips to press to one another.

It was deeper than our last kiss—but Mili managed to deepen it even more as her tongue slid past my lips.

I hummed, wrapping my arms around her neck as hers slid around my waist and tugged me into her body.

Within seconds we were pulled apart by a ringing phone—which just so happened to be mine.

My stomach dropped as I read the caller ID, "It's Mya."

Mili only pressed a soft kiss to my temple, "I'm sure she's just checking in on you," she assured me as she stood from the couch, "I'll go grab us some more drinks while you take that."

I nodded a few times, glancing down at the ringing phone as Mili walked off toward the bar.

A deep sigh fell from my lips, quickly gathering my nerves as I answered the phone.

"Mya—hey," I said, forcing my voice to sound steady.

"Guess who's about to have a sneaky link," Mya's voice filtered in from the other end of the phone.

I felt my body relax slightly, "Who's the lucky guy?" I said, laughing slightly to myself.

Mya laughed as well, "It's called a sneaky link for a reason Ana," she joked, and I could hear keys jingling on the other end, "How's your night going? Are you having fun?"

Almost instantly, the guilt was flooding back in at full force, "Yeah-yeah, we're having drinks now, and then I'll probably be heading back," I said, practically forcing the lie out.

Mya hummed happily, "Aw that's good—I probably won't be home until morning, but I'll let you know how it goes," she said.

I nodded, noticing Mili walking back over to me with two drinks in her hands, "Okay, hopefully you have fun," I said.

Mya laughed, "Oh trust me—I will," she joked, easily making me shake my head at her, "Talk soon!"

And just like that, the call ended and Mili was sitting down next to me.

"Everything good?" Mili asked as she handed me the drink.

I nodded happily, "Yeah, Mya was only calling to ask about my night and tell me about the sneaky link she's about to have," I said, settling in beside her as her arm rested across the back of the couch.

Mili shook her head, "I do not need to hear about my sister's sneaky links—also, I told you she was checking in on you," she pointed out.

I playfully rolled my eyes, "Yeah-yeah."

Mili raised a brow, leaning into my ear as she said, "What do I get for being right?"

I hummed, feeling my body grow achingly hot yet again. How she could flip the mood so quickly was beyond me, "What would you like?" I questioned, turning my head slightly to meet her stare.

Mili's lips twitched up into a smirk, "A lot of things," she said, carefully looking between my eyes.

And somehow her words alone managed to make me grow hotter.

"Yeah?" I murmured breathlessly.

Mili hummed, "Oh yeah," she didn't hesitate to say, and the look she was giving me... it was so insinuative.

I never thought a simple look could affect me so much—that it could easily send goosebumps crawling down my spine.

Mili suddenly sighed, "But I guess I can settle for banning this new nickname you've given me."

I couldn't help but laugh, "Too bad that banning it isn't an option."

Mili smirked slightly, "You asked what I wanted..." she trailed off with a raised brow.

I hummed, "It's still not getting banned," I reminded her.

Mili narrowed her eyes at me, "Fine," she said, giving into me completely, "A kiss sounds much more appealing anyways," she said leaning down to me.

I smiled slightly, leaning up to press a soft kiss to her lips before pulling back.

But Mili only groaned, easily pulling me back in for a deeper kiss, "I can't get enough," she murmured against my lips.

I smiled against her lips, "Me either."
