"I won't be long, I'll just run across the street to get a tub of ice cream," I whispered quietly, hoping to not wake anyone.

Everyone was asleep except for Mili and Mya. The movie felt never-ending, and I seriously couldn't take being next to Mili and Alyssa for another second.

Even if Alyssa was asleep, I knew under the covers, she and Mili's bodies were interwoven—perhaps with Mili's arm secured around her waist.

"I would say get me a tub, but I'm on the verge of falling asleep," Mya murmured, her heavy eyes peering over at me.

Mili slowly laid up from her position, "I actually want to get a few things—mind if I come?"

Yes, I do. You should wake Alyssa and ask her instead—I thought to myself.

Even with the tense thoughts, I blankly said, "I guess not."

The words were definitely forced.

"Bet," Mili said, rising from the pile of covers carefully.

Jealousy rippled through me, knowing she was carefully trying to not wake Alyssa.

I shook my head to myself, I seriously need to chill.

"Well, I'm going to sleep, so please don't forget to lock the door when you get back," Mya said, nuzzling her head into the pillow on the couch.

I nodded, gently removing Cam's arm from around my waist, "I got you, Mya."

By the time I successfully untangled myself from Cam and stood from the pile of covers, Mili was by the door with her slides on.

Quickly, I grabbed my slides from my room along with the cropped grey jacket hanging on the coat rack at the front door.

Mili quietly opened the apartment door and motioned her head for me to walk through.

I obliged silently as she followed me out of the apartment, closing the door softly behind us.

The halls were silent given that it was almost two in the morning, which only left the sound of our footsteps pattering down against the wood floors.

The silence was thick and tense—but I preferred this over talking to her.

Then again, she didn't exactly do anything wrong. She took the advice both Mya and I gave her.

Technically she and I aren't anything—and we'll never be anything.

So why am I mad?

If anything she belongs with Alyssa. It makes sense.

They make sense.

"You and Cam look good together," Mili said, finally breaking the silence.

Her tone seemed unamused. It basically felt like an insult rather than a compliment.

I kept my attention on the elevator panel that displayed each floor we passed as we dropped down to the lobby. "Same for you and Alyssa," I forced out, matching her tone entirely.

Mili hummed, "That didn't seem genuine."

I let out an unamused laugh, "Neither did yours," I retorted, knowing I was fighting fire with fire.

"That's because it wasn't."

I shrugged, "It's not like I wanted your opinion in the first place," I said, watching the floors descend painfully slow.

It feels like each second is really a minute.

"Well it seems you were quick to give your own," she said, her raspy voice laced with complete challenge.

I hated that I found the slightest sound of her voice attractive, even when I was incredibly irritated with her and her games.

I decided to stay silent, knowing I didn't have the energy to play this game with her.

Besides, my feelings were still very fresh regarding her and Alyssa.

"Just admit it," Mili said, breaking the silence again, which forced my eyes to snap away from the elevator panel and onto Mili.

And God, did she look so unintentionally attractive with frizzy hair and tired eyes.

Upon gaining my attention, she raised a brow, her stare on me completely, "Admit that you're jealous."

I scoffed almost instantly, "I am not jealous."

Immediately I could sense how defensive I sounded and the way my voice cracked slightly.

God, it's so obvious.

Mili raised a brow just as the doors glided open.

But I only ignored her, walking to get off the elevator.

However, before I could step off, Mili gently grabbed my wrist, pulling me toward her and pressing the button that instantly closed the elevator doors back.

Before I could even process it, my back was met with the cold wall of the elevator, while the front of my body was met with Mili's warmness.

"Admit it," Mili said, her tone lowered.

I closed my eyes briefly, taking in her intoxicating scent, but I quickly forced my eyes back open. I can't let her win.

"I'm not," I forced out.

Mili tilted her head, leaning into me, which easily made my heart rate skyrocket.

Except she passed my face and leaned into my ear.

"So you're telling me..." she whispered, her warm breath tickling my ear as her hands gripped my hips into place. "That the idea of me touching her, kissing her, holding her... it doesn't bother you?"

"I..." I trailed off, unconsciously wrapping my arms around her lean torso. Don't let her win. Don't let her win.

"Choose your next words carefully, Ati," she murmured, massaging her fingers into my hips, which easily made my body rock into hers.

I gripped her torso, practically panting at this point. "Fine," I breathed out, pushing her away from me, which separated us completely.

Mili's dark eyes met mine as she stood merely inches away from me, "Fine what?"

I sighed, knowing I just let her win, but I suppose there wasn't any point in hiding something so obvious.

"Fine I'm jealous, but that seems like something you wanted," I said, taking a challenging step toward her as I peered up into her eyes, "That's why you brought her right?" I said, pushing my hands against her shoulders, "You brought her to prove a point?"

"I only did what you agreed with," Mili countered.

I couldn't help but scoff, "Me agreeing that you should talk to her didn't mean to bring her to our fucking movie night."

Mili only hummed, wrapping her arms around my waist, "Technically it did," she countered.

I quickly pushed her away, "You don't get to touch me like that—not with her upstairs."

"Which her? Cam or Alyssa?"

"Either one," I said, realizing how fucked up our entire situation really was.

Mili took a step toward me, "You don't mean that."

"I do."

"Really? Because your actions are telling me otherwise," she said, and I couldn't miss the way her presence grew closer to me, or the fact that I wanted it to. "The way your breathing grows heavy, how you pull me closer to you, or the way your eyes roll shut..."

I swallowed harshly, "None of that matters, not when you decided to get back with her."

Mili's brows furrowed, "Who said I was with her?" she said, easily making my own head tilt, "We're just friends."

"So why bring her?"

"To prove a point."

I shook my head, easily growing even more irritated with her, "What fucking point?"

"That you should've just said no—that you weren't okay with it," Mili said, reaching out to grab my waist.

I couldn't do that. Not in front of Mya.

"I..." I trailed off, forgetting that she was unaware of the promise that Mya and I made.

I couldn't imagine how she would even begin to feel about that—I don't even know how I feel about it, especially since it seems to be the only thing really holding me back from Mili.

Mili suddenly tilted her head, her eyes tracing my face intently, "You're hiding something."

I stayed silent, knowing If I disclosed the promise Mya and I made—Mili would either be mad or leave me alone for the sake of her sister.

Mili gently grabbed my chin, guiding my eyes to meet hers. "What aren't you telling me?" she asked carefully.

I peered into her dark eyes, shaking my head, "It's nothing."

"Clearly it's something."

"I-I can't tell you," I said, stumbling over my own words.

Mili let out an irritated sigh, "I swear to god, Atiana..." she trailed off, her tone low and careful, "If you don't tell me right now, I'll walk out of this elevator and never speak to you again."

I blinked a few times, "You wouldn't."

"Try me."
