Page 87 of Ruthless Chaos
I try to nod, but my head only wobbles.
The world is spinning and when I gather my focus, the room doesn’t feel the same—the lights are too bright, and everyone around looks like shadows.
I can’t make out their faces anymore.
Something is wrong.
Liam grabs a handful of my ass. I can’t find the strength to push him away, so it comes off as a playful tap.
He wraps his other hand around me, pulling me closer to him.
I struggle against his grip, but it’s no use. I can’t overpower him.
“What’s the matter, Allie?” he coos. I want to hurl. “Just relax. Enjoy the party.”
Let me go!
Leave me alone!
The words are trapped in my throat. My tongue is too heavy to move.
Panic spreads in my chest. I can’t get my body to do what I want it to.
What’s happening to me?
“I didn’t want it to come to this,” he growls in my ear.
His grip on me tightens, and we start to move. I plant my feet in the ground but it’s a pathetic attempt. He’s too strong, my body too floppy.
“But Alexander has left me no choice. You’re the only way I can hurt him.”
My scream is caught in my throat.
No one can tell I’m in danger.
My stomach clenches. Even if I could scream, nobody would come to my rescue.
Liam is a member of the Kingmaker Council and I’m in a room full of killers who revere him. My heart sinks like a stone in water, dread curling inside my middle.
He’s taken me from the dance floor, toward the corridor beside the bar.
I struggle against him as best as I can.
It must feel like a tickle to him, for he laughs.
“Nobody will save you,” he says, giving voice to my fear.
I’ve seen enough movies and read enough books to know what’s about to happen.
“I want to know what kind of pussy you’ve got.” My blood runs cold. “Alexander’s never claimed anyone before, so you can imagine my surprise that he’s chosenyou.”
His words aren’t making any sense to me. My brain is mush.
All I can understand is I’m in terrible danger.
“Will you show me your secrets, Allie?”
As a last resort, I try to make my entire body go stiff. If I can’t stop him, I can make it more difficult.
