Page 50 of Never To Suffer (The Hollywoodland #4)
“Come for me, Beetle. Come all over my cock, soak the bed for me, love.” I’m holding back.
I’m coming apart at the seams, listening to my name on her lips while she squeezes me in her vise.
I smack her round ass again, leaving an angry red print I wish I could see, and it sends her rocketing into space, her whole body shaking as she drips down my thighs.
“Good girl.” I whisper to her as she comes back to the real world. I climb off the bed, hiding the pain in every movement until I stand upright, and the pressure fades. “Now get on your knees and open your mouth. Your blasphemy has only just begun.”
“If Skylar wanted something to sink his teeth into, I could have made some dinner before they went to bed last night,” Coop says when Dani walks into the kitchen, lifting the steaming cup to his lips as he reads his tablet.
“Huh?” Dani asks, eyes bouncing between the two of us.
I pour my coffee and keep my head down, joining Coop at the table.
Dani spins around, finding her reflection in the door of the fridge and gasps.
The perfect, clear bite marks on her neck are a beautiful combination of horrifying and incredibly hot.
“You marked me!”
“Yeah, I’m not gonna pretend I’m not a little jealous.” Coop answers before I can. “Your sister has left a few?—”
“COOPER! I already heard about what she did to your ass, I don’t need to hear about the rest of you.”
Coop spits his coffee across the table, choking on it as he laughs, and wipes up the mess. “Jesus, really? Now I gotta change. Maybe I should take back that new phone I got you after that bullshit? Don’t let Connor drop it in any more beer tubs, okay?”
“Aww, you’re the best.” She flips him off, then blows him a kiss.
“When are you two asshats leaving? Not that I don’t love having you here and all.”
“In a few hours. Now that we have furniture, I figured we’d get some groceries and lock ourselves in the apartment until we leave again,” Dani explains, getting her own cup of coffee and a replacement for Coop’s.
She hands me a bottle of pills. “I already called a nursing hotline; you can take these. They’ll help your back so you can stop pretending you’re okay. ”
“Thanks, Beetle,” I kiss her cheek as she leans over.
“Good, some peace and quiet tonight. Although, damn, you two were putting on a show last night.”
“I thought you soundproofed your room!?”
“It is,” he smirks, but doesn’t hold it, sighing. “But I sleep in the loft now. The bedroom is too empty without your sister.” He looks out at the pool to hide the glisten in his blue eyes. “Do you want to leave your bike here, Sky? Probably safer than street parking.”
I nod, but they’re too busy flipping each other off.
I swear they both become eight-year-olds when they’re together.
I duck out long enough to get Dani’s new phone and start setting it up for her.
Once it’s ready, the missed messages hit.
Ten missed calls from an unknown caller, a few from Steve, and one from Connor.
“Something wrong?” I ask when her face scrunches up.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I didn’t give my number to the guy I made out with last night. But I have like a million missed calls.”
“Sounds clingy,” I reply, scrolling through the social media feed on my phone. With a laugh, I turn the phone around and show Dani a picture of herself hanging all over some guy at a bar. Even without seeing his face, he looks familiar. “This guy?”
“Yeah, him. Dark and broody with this whole professor thing going on. Made me wish I had a skirt and a yardstick.” She winks at me when I adjust my position after picturing her bent over and waiting for a spanking.
“Bring him home next time. He’s hot. Also, I wanna watch that happen.”
“Skylar! But yeah, that’s fair. Alright, he also left three messages. Let’s see how weird it gets!”
“Dani?” Our eyes lock at the sound of Xander’s voice and the fear it’s laced with. “I, uhm, tried to call you. Look, shit… shit got weird and I’m in, I think I’m in trouble.”
“Skylar, oh my god!” She holds her phone up and shows me the timestamp on the message. It’s from yesterday morning. Almost twenty-four hours ago. All the missed calls show as yesterday.
“I’m not sure where I am,” his voice continues, growing shaky the more he says. “I uhm, I love you. I think it was Oliver. I think he did something. I don’t know… I don’t ? —”
The call cuts off. Followed by three minutes of near silence that we all listen to more than once. Chase gets on his phone texting someone to see if they can figure out how to get the number. Dani presses the last voicemail and holds her breath. I hold mine, too.
“Dani, I hope this is your number, because it’s the only one I can find.” It’s a woman’s voice. “We found Xander, and he’s going to be okay. He said he tried to call you, so I’m sure you’re frantic right now if he managed to reach you. Here’s my number. Call me back as soon as you get this.”
She holds the phone to her chest, waving both Coop and I off as she takes off down the hall.
“I wonder what she means when she says they found Xander. I don’t think that can be good.” Coop’s dog, a big white and brown pit, joins us, nudging Coop’s leg and going into a sit position. “Crap, thanks, Buddy. Almost forgot.”
“Huh?”
“Oh, not you. The dog. You should bring Pongo up to Dr. Clay next week. Maybe a psychiatric service dog could help you out. Like, he just told my dumb ass to go take my meds. Chase gives the dog a couple of scratches before he gets up and goes back into the kitchen.
He’s doing his best to distract me, which I appreciate, but my eyes haven’t left the doorway. It’s ten minutes before Dani comes back, tear streaks running down her face. She comes straight to me, climbs into my lap, and hugs me close. “I’ve got you, Beetle. Take your time.”
“I called his aunt. Some guy drugged him and tried to blackmail his dad. Stole his computer, phone, passport, everything.”
“Holy shit!” Chase shouts.
“They checked him out of the hospital a few hours ago, she’s going to have him call when he wakes up again.”
“Alright, love,” I rub her back for a minute before standing up, taking her with me. “Let’s get you fed and get to the apartment so we can get everything ready for you to go. I’ll come with you, if you want.” She nods into my shoulder, and I hold her tight until she stops shaking.
