Page 29 of June: When Gangstas Collide

The way June left the house, I didn’t know what the hell was going on, but what I did know was that something wasn’t right. Every day I fought with trying not to stress and every fucking day it was becoming harder. Samara came into the house after me and immediately started with the questions.

“Zaria, what’s going on?”

I honestly didn’t want to be bothered, but I had never been the person to take my anger out on someone else unless warranted. I had always put everyone else before myself, and most of my years, it had caused me stress, but I tried not to complain. However, a bitch was tired. There was no meditation, no candles, teas, or plants that were going to fix this. I took a deep breath before turning to face Samara.

“He’s a little upset, but it had nothing to do with you,”

I told her.

“He looked pretty pissed. How are you feeling? Can I get you and the baby anything?”

I smiled because she was the sweetest. I saw a lot of myself in Samara. I had a child, and although she was older, she was still my baby.

“I’m ok and so are the babies.”

Her eyes grew.

“Wait, you said babies. Like plural, more than one.”

I gave a weak laugh.

“Yes, I’m having twins. June doesn’t know, and I want to be the one to tell him, so promise me you will not tell him.”

She folded her arms over her chest.

“He is crazy and knows how to pull information you're not willing to tell out of you, but I think I can handle June.”

I pointed to her.

“Don’t let him hear you say that.”

She shrugged.

“I reapplied for TSU,”

she tried mumbling.

I was confused. “You did?”

“Yeah, well, Chevy told me to and I did.”

Why would he tell her to reapply for a school she got rejected from? Samara pulled out her phone to show me. I hoped that he had a plan because if she got her heart broken for a second time, it would piss me off. Samara came over to me and hugged me tightly, “I love you, Zaria. You’re doing a great job. Thank you for accepting me.”

My eyes closed as I held her in my arms.

“I love you, too. I’m happy you chose us. I wouldn’t change it.”

The babies began kicking. I quickly grabbed her hand and put it on my belly. She smiled widely, “They're moving.”

“Yeah, they are active in there.”

“I always wondered what it was like to have siblings,”

she whispered.

I laughed.

“Well, you will soon find out.”

She pulled away and went upstairs. I released an easy breath as I began to make my way up behind her when the doorbell rang.

“Who is it?”

I called out.

There was no response, so I took a look at the camera monitor. When I saw who it was, I wondered what the purpose of this visit was. I unlocked the door and slowly opened it.

“What are you doing here?”

“Indigo swears he’s our brother, so I want to know from you. I want to know about him and how he came to this conclusion,”

Tania said to me.

My head tilted slightly to the side as I stared at her. If her skin were a bit darker, she lost the wig, and had a beard, she would be a spitting image of her brother.

“You look just like him. You can’t see that yourself?”

I said to her.

She held her hand out.

“It’s not enough!”

she shouted.

A grin eased on my face.

“First, we don’t yell over here. You see those,”

I pointed behind me.

“Our plants,”

I shook my head.

“They can hear that shit. Second, you need to talk to him because I have nothing to tell you. Your family, your problems,”

I finished and closed the door in her face.

I was already going through enough with June; I didn’t have the extra energy to put up with his sister’s bullshit. I could tell that I was coming to a point where I was tired of it all.
