I don’t really know where things stand between Gabe, Calvin and me. Saturday night was amazing, but after I dreamily said I wanted to be their sub exclusively, things got a little awkward. We ate and watched a movie, but we didn’t reallytalk. Not about us anyway. I completely get that making decisions about hookups and play partners isn’t best done straight after an orgasm, but I also hate being in limbo. Now, it’s Tuesday afternoon, and I haven’t heard from either of them. They’re both probably busy, and I shouldn’t read anything into it, but of course my thoughts are running wild. Did I scare them both off? Were they just looking for some casual fun? I know Friday was their first time playing with a sub together, so maybe they’ve decided it’s not for them. If that’s the case, I wish they’d tell me and put me out of my misery. Screw it. Worrying myself into a tizzy isn’t going to get me any answers.
Blake:Hey. What are you up to?
I send the message to the group chat Gabe set up on Saturday.
Calvin:Between boudoir clients. What about you, princess?
Okay, that makes me smile. Surely Calvin wouldn’t call me ‘princess’ if he was going to give me the brush-off?
Blake:Picking my niece up from school.
It’s the one thing I’m never late for. I know Archie and Corey think I’m a total scatterbrain, but I’ve never let them down when it comes to looking after Lexi. More often than not, I’m the one who picks her up from school. Modelling is anything but a regular nine-to-five job. It’s also not a regular income, but my brothers help me manage my money, so I’m always paying my way.
Calvin:How old is she?
Blake:Five.
I wonder why Gabe isn’t replying, then decide he’s probably too busy with work. Not that I know what ‘work’ looks like for Gabe. I doubt he makes a living out of tying people up, but I could be wrong.
Calvin:Not working today?
Blake:Nah. I’ve got a casting call tomorrow, but otherwise I’ve not got any jobs lined up this week.
Calvin:Sorry to hear that.
Blake:I’m used to it. It’s nice to have a slow week every once in a while.
Well, this is nice. We’re chatting. Of course, Calvin could just be being polite. I take a breath and send my next message before I can talk myself out of it.
Blake:Did I come on too strong on Saturday?
Right then, the doors to Lexi’s classroom open, and the teacher starts to let the class out. I put my phone away, grinning as Lexi comes hurtling towards me. She flings her arms around me, and I pick her up and swing her around until I’m dizzy and she’s giggling.
“Did you have a good day?”
“Yes.”
I take her hand, and we walk towards the school gates. “What did you do?”
“Don’t remember.”
I laugh. It’s the same answer I get every day. It drives Corey nuts that she won’t tell him what she did. According to Mum and Dad, we were all the same. Not one of us could tell them what we’d done in school.
“Jake was mean,” she says in a very disapproving tone.
“Who’s Jake?”
She looks around and then points at a little boy with fair hair, who’s walking hand in hand with a blonde woman. “Him.”
I wince as the woman notices Lexi pointing at her son and scowls at me. Note to self: five-year-olds have no social filter whatsoever. Luckily, we’re at the gate and leaving them behind.
“He was mean to my friend.”
“Oh?”
“Me and Billy were playing in the home corner with the dolls.”
