Page 95 of The Deception You Weave
She scoffs. "I don't take fucking orders from you, Kane. In fact, I don't actually take orders from anyone. I wanted to make sure my dad was okay. I don't give a shit about Victor or any of the fucking Hawks. You're all a bunch of fucked-up, psychotic criminals as far as I'm concerned."
"You should fucking care. How many times do I need to say it? He will kill you."
"So then fucking let him," she cries, her shoulders lifting in a shrug as if she really doesn't care.
My fingers tighten around her throat but she doesn't so much as flinch.
"Go on, be a good little minion and do his dirty work for him. That's what you do isn't it, Kane? You kill people for that cunt."
My jaw pops, my teeth grinding so hard they actually hurt. My heart races and I have to fight to stop my hand from trembling against her.
"Princess," I force out through the red haze of anger that's descended over me.
She stares at me as if she has no cares in the world. Unfortunately for her, I can feel her pulse thundering under my touch.
"Don't fucking move or your father is going to witness something he really fucking doesn't want to."
Her lips part to respond but when her eyes rip from mine and look over my shoulder, I know that he is indeed watching us.
She swallows nervously before lowering her head and looking down at her lap.
It's good to know that she can follow orders when her family is involved.
With a warning squeeze of her throat, I throw her purse onto her lap and slam the door closed before jogging around to the driver's seat.
I start the engine and without looking up at where I know William is standing watching us, I back away from his trailer and floor it from the place I'd quite happily never set foot inside again.
"Kane, I—"
"Don't," I bark, my grip on the wheel so tight it's painful and causes my fingers to cramp up.
She blows out a breath and twists away from me, resting her head on the window.
Leaning my own back against the headrest, I drag in a couple of deep breaths, willing my anger at her fucking stupid decisions to cool off.
It works for a second but then I glance over at her and the image of her bound to a chair like Reid explained to me after she only gave me the very basics of what happened pops into my mind.
"What the fuck are you doing?" she cries, startled when I take a sharp left, cutting off the car that was approaching on the other side of the road.
I grit my teeth and swallow down my response as we continue forward for a few miles before the car begins to bounce around as the terrain changes. We soon find ourselves under the cover of trees and totally alone.
"Oh good, you've brought me to the middle of nowhere to kill me."
"Don't fucking tempt me, Princess," I growl, reaching over and sliding my fingers into the hair at the nape of her neck and dragging her toward me.
Her lips part in shock but she doesn't say anything as I smash her lips against mine. I plunge my tongue into her mouth as her hands attack my arms and chest—anything she can—in her attempt to push me away.
She fights my every movement, every swipe of my tongue trying to force her to submit but it's not until I once again take her by the throat that her hands let up their attack and her body begins to relax under my hold.
"Give in, Princess."
"Fuck you, Kane."
"Now there's a fucking idea."
Still refusing to kiss me, our lips remain pressed together unmoving as our increased breaths mingle. Her eyes hold mine but with each passing second, I see her resolve begin to weaken.
Reaching down, I pop open the fly of my pants and awkwardly push the fabric down over my ass.
