Page 51 of The Deception You Weave
Thankfully, the car passes without any drama, although I can only imagine there was pointing and laughing from whoever was inside.
The next time I hear a car in the distance, I panic less. Although I really should have been more alert because it slows behind me.
Assuming it's just a couple of guys probably making the most of ogling my almost bare body, I keep going.
Refusing to turn back, I pick up my pace when they make no effort to pass me.
My breaths come fast and my entire body begins to tremble as my thoughts about being abducted rush back to the forefront of my mind. But something tells me that I'm not that lucky. It's probably just Kane about to tell me that I look like a whore.
Deciding that the latter option is probably more likely, I keep going. A car door closing behind me is like a gunshot through my chest. I'm just about to take off running when arms wrap around me and I'm pulled back into a strong chest.
I scream, but it's muffled by a huge hand. A hand that I already know doesn't belong to Kane.
My arms flail around and my legs kick, trying to connect with whoever is holding me, but it's pointless.
He spins me around and I’m thrown into the back of a black Town car.
The second my eyes lock on the vehicle, my hackles rise even more. There's only one person who'd turn up in a car like that to take me.
The instant I look up, I'm met with the smug yet evil eyes of Victor Harris.
"Scarlett, what a surprise. You even dressed for the occasion."
I open my lips to respond but I don't get the chance because something blunt connects with the side of my head and everything goes black.

Letty
Everything hurts when I start to come to, but nothing more so than my head.
I try to open my eyes but they're so heavy, it's almost like my eyelashes are stuck together.
I groan as I try to fight the darkness that wants to claim me once more. But then someone talks beside me and I'm immediately awake.
"Dad?" I ask, forcing my eyes open and looking to my right. "Oh my God, Dad," I cry when I get a look at him.
Both his eyes are dark and swollen, dried blood coming from his brow, his nose looks crooked as if it's broken and his lips are split.
"What happened? Where are we? What is going on?"
My blood runs cold as I recall the last face I saw before everything went dark.
Victor Harris.
"I have easy access to people you love, Scarlett. You should never forget that."
His words from his car two weeks ago comes back to me.
"Oh my God," I sob.
I failed and now my dad is going to pay.
I try to move my arms and soon realize that they're bound behind my back, my fingers numb as I try to move them. I shift one leg and find that I'm unable to do that as well.
Fucking hell.
I hang my head for a second, trying to get my brain to wake up to really focus on what's happening here.
