Page 55 of The Deception You Weave
"It's taken care of." He nods toward his father and Victor comes to stand beside his son and second-in-command.
"Okay. Good. So, William is free to go?"
"Yes. I've been assured he was unaware of the situation. But we will be watching you," Reid warns my father. "Any more fuck-ups and you won’t walk out of here so easily.”
"And Scarlett?"
"I'll deal with her." His eyes bore into mine and the same level of fear shakes my bones as it did when his father looked at me.
I would be foolish to believe that just because he's younger that he'll be easier to convince to allow me out of this mess.
We might have gone to school together. He might be Kane's friend. But he has no loyalties to me and everyone in the Creek knows exactly what Reid Harris does to his enemies.
He pulls a blade from his waistband and steps toward me.
"Please, no," I beg as he gets closer.
Something akin to amusement shines in his eyes before his lips part a beat before they brush against my ear.
"Be fucking scared, Scarlett," he warns, his deep voice sends chills racing over my skin.
I hold my breath as he disappears behind me, and a second later I sigh in relief, bringing my arms around to my front and inspecting the damage on my wrists. Thankfully, they're in better shape than Dad's are, but it doesn't make me feel any better about this situation.
Next, he slices through the bindings at my ankles and pulls me to my feet.
My knees barely hold me up and if it wasn't for his arm around my waist, then I'd be a pile on the ground right now.
It makes me wonder just how long I was tied there and not aware of it.
"Let's go," he snaps, his harsh grip digging into my waist.
"But my dad," I cry.
"Your dad and I have things we need to discuss,Princess."Victor growls as Reid pulls me away.
"P-please don't hurt him," I beg.
"How about you just worry about yourself. My son knows exactly how to punish a woman, isn't that right, boy?"
"No," Dad cries, the chair wobbling so much with his escape attempt that it topples over, making his head collide with the cold concrete floor beneath him.
"No," I scream, trying to break out of Reid's grip to get to him.
"Let's go," he demands, lifting me into his arms as if I'm a small child.
I fight to get away but his grip is too tight and in the end, my muscles give in and I fall still while he carries me away from whatever fate my dad is about to meet.
Reid doesn't speak until we are outside what I now realize is the Hawks clubhouse.
Almost every set of eyes turn our way as he marches through the communal areas where all the members hang out. The fact there are so many still awake gives me my first hint that maybe I'd not been out of it all that long.
That thought is confirmed when he kicks the door open and we emerge to the sight of the sun just starting to appear over the horizon.
He comes to a stop by his truck and places me on my feet.
Ripping his door open, he pulls a black hoodie from inside and hands it to me.
"Here, put this on. That stinks."
