“Yeah, it’ll be fine. Plus, it was really weird not seeing you today. I didn’t particularly like it. And I had no idea what to do with myself all day while you and Vada were gone.”
“Maybe you and Kelsey could get together for lunch or something next week.”
“What did you do all day?”
I snorted. “Nothing you’d want a part of. I get together with Bravo team at the gym on Wednesdays. I work out with them and then spend the afternoon playing basketball, at least when they’re not out of town on a mission. It’s just my way of blowing off steam on my day off. I don’t have to do it though if you would rather I can stay home.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. You have your routine and I’ll eventually figure out mine.”
I hated thinking of her being all alone.
“Why don’t you guys come on over here?”
“No. I’ll wait for them to get here first and then I’ll drive over. Do you need anything?”
Did I need anything? I grinned from her even asking. No one ever did. Not that I minded. I loved hosting D&D nights, but it had always fallen on me. Even when others hosted, I was still the one that had to show up early and setup the game, put out the maps, and prepare everything. Sometimes that even meant bringing the food.
It meant the world to me that she had asked.
“I’ve got it, but thanks.”
“Thanks for what?”
“For being you,” I told her honestly.
“I’ll see you as soon as Silas and Vada get here.”
“Can’t wait.”
I meant it too. As much as I loved the game, I’d give it all up for time alone with my mate.
Pushing that thought from my head, I got started on the food.
Time flew by and soon there was a knock at the door as Tarron and Susan were the first to arrive.
“Hey, you came back!” I exclaimed, excited to see Susan return.
“Wouldn’t miss it,” she assured me. “Is Lucy here?”
“Soon. She’s getting Vada settled over at her place.”
“I guess next week we’ll have the munchkin running around here, huh?” Tarron said.
I shrugged. “We’ll see. I’m sure my parents will agree to watch her.”
“So things didn’t work out with Silas and Vada?” Susan asked.
“It was fine. They’re babysitting again tonight.”
“But by next week Lucy and little Vada will be officially living here. We move them this weekend, right?”
I grinned and nodded. I couldn’t wait to have my girls home for good.
“That’s great, Micah. So you’ve sealed your bond then?”
I groaned and rolled my eyes dramatically.
“I’m going to take that as a no,” she said with a laugh.
