“Hell yes. Every Wednesday night. You should come.”
“I just went for the first time last week. Tarron’s been begging me to give it a try. I’ll admit, it was a lot more fun than I expected. You’re welcome to join us this week. We play from six to eight.”
I considered it for a minute, but that wasn’t the type of thing I could just bring Vada too.
“It sounds fun, but…”
“But nothing. You’re in,” Tarron said.
I shook my head. “I don’t have anyone to watch Vada and I wouldn’t really enjoy it if I was worried about keeping an eye on her too. I doubt kids tag along to those things.”
“Oh, let me babysit,” Vada said. “Please, Lucy. Silas and I can care for her on Wednesday nights while you take a break doing something you enjoy. It would be doing us both a huge favor.”
“How would pawning off my kid help you?” I laughed.
“Well, neither of us really expected to have kids. Okay, we don’t know anything about babies,” she confessed.
“Not a damn thing,” Silas confirmed.
“I’ve been studying though, and we babysat for Shelby’s triplets once.”
Her eyes had a faraway glaze over them as if she was remembering a nightmare.
“No one died,” Silas confessed.
Vada elbowed him. “It wasn’t that bad, but three at once was a bit terrifying.”
“Three at once would terrify me and I’ve had two years of on-the-job training for this.”
The others chuckled.
“So, what do you say?”
“Come on, say yes, please,” Susan practically begged.
“You heard the big guy. No one died on their watch,” Tarron teased.
They were all staring and waiting for me to respond.
“Okay,” I finally agreed. “But on a week-by-week trial basis. If it goes bad this week, then it’s over.”
“Fair enough,” Vada said with a squeal of excitement.
She looked up at Silas as he grinned and gave her a quick kiss.
Tarron had his arm around Susan as she rested her head on his shoulder.
The sight of the couples gave me a weird empty feeling.
I wished my mate was there with us, too.
My mate? When had I let myself acknowledge Micah as my mate?
The thought was starting to make me freak out a little. I needed a mental subject change and quick.
“Who’s ready for dinner?”
Micah
