“You know them?”
I laughed. “Luce, I know everyone around here.”
“Right. So I should do this?”
“Yes. And Vada and I will be fine.”
“I know,” she said confidently.
“Plus, it will be good for you to make friends and start finding your place around here.”
I had already said too much, but I needed that more than anything. Because I knew the more she settled in San Marco, the better my odds were that she would stay. I needed her to stay because I couldn’t imagine not having her in my life.
Thoughts of her leaving scared the shit out of me.

Chapter 11
I was excited to start my new job, but nervous about working so closely with Micah. I knew I was getting too close and enjoying his kisses a little too much. He made me feel things I’d never experienced before and certainly had me thinking things that were not appropriate for work.
I had no idea how I was going to manage to keep the two separated.
My first day started off great. He gave me a tour around the place, showed me the files, which to my surprise were all offline and old school paper files.
“Why don’t you have these scanned into a computer or something? Wouldn’t it be much easier to find patient information that way?”
Micah laughed. “Yeah, it would definitely be easier, but my father and his father before him did it this way and quite frankly, I haven’t had time to do anything about it. I came back here and basically hit the ground running straight out of med school.”
I made a mental note to research types of programs and security for such things. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but what would it hurt to at least look into options for him?
Much to my surprise after the way he had kissed me in front of everyone at the D&D game, Micah was the epitome of professional. It was frustrating me more than anything. How could he be so calm and collected, completely unaffected by my presence here when I was going insane with desire just being this close for so long and not touching him.
Of course, there had been the occasional brushes in passing and while he was giving me the tour of the place, but that was it. And it was hardly enough to even begin to calm my wolf, or my libido.
At five minutes to noon, Micah walked out his latest patient and then locked the doors behind him. He turned to me and clapped his hands together. “Hungry? I’m starved. Finish up whatever you’re doing or stop when you get to a break point and come on back to my office.”
He turned and walked away.
I stared at him somewhat stunned by his behavior. It was true I had asked him to stay professional and keep his hands to himself during business hours, but I didn’t think he’d take it to this extreme. My body was practically buzzing being so near him. Why wasn’t he going just as insane by my presence?
I finished what I was doing and walked to his office. I peeked in, but he wasn’t at his desk.
I yelped when a hand snaked out and grabbed me around the waist, pulling me into the room, and closing the door behind us.
“Finally,” Micah sighed seconds before his lips pressed against mine.
He had me pinned up against the wall and his mouth was claiming me.
I moaned, letting the emotions consume me as his demanding kisses stoked a flame deep within me.
I needed him.
I had never needed anyone as badly as I needed Micah.
He eased up a little, talking as he trailed kisses down the column of my neck.
“We have got to renegotiate your terms of employment,” he murmured stopping to suck on a sensitive spot on my neck that immediately triggered my canines to elongate.
