“Then it shouldn’t take long to get you guys resettled.”
A weight lifted from my shoulders knowing she had initiated this conversation. She wanted to be with me and that made me feel like the luckiest sonofabitch on the planet.
I really couldn’t wait to fully merge our lives together and claim her once and for all.

“I hungry,” Vada protested on the drive home.
Lucy cringed. “I declined your mom’s offer to go there for dinner tonight, told her we’d go tomorrow night. But I didn’t go shopping or think about what we’re having yet.”
“I hungry!” Vada yelled again.
“Out or in?” I asked her.
“Huh?”
“Do you feel up to going out or would you prefer to stay in?”
She sighed. “I don’t really care.”
“Are you sure? I have plenty of food at my house and need to swing by and grab some clothes anyway. Or we can stop by the Silver Bells.”
“What’s Silver Bells?”
“It’s like a 50’s themed diner.”
She considered that for a moment. “Yeah, that’s fine,” she conceded.
“What are you worried about?” I asked, sensing something was bothering her.
“It’s nothing. It’s fine.”
“Lucy?”
She huffed. “I was just calculating cost in my head to make sure I can make it to payday.”
I growled, making her eyes widen.
“You don’t ever have to worry about that again.”
“Micah, I’m a single mother. It’s just life.”
I growled again.
“You aren’t single, and you aren’t alone anymore.”
It angered me to hear her even say that, though I tried to calm myself and my wolf down, knowing she hadn’t meant it to come across quite like that.
I took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“You’re my mate. What’s mine is yours and trust me, I have more than enough. I don’t live extravagantly by any means, but if that’s what you need, then we’ll still be more than fine.”
“I’m not a user, Micah. I’m not just going to mooch off of you or the Pack.”
“Don’t be so stubborn. It’s my honor to care for you and Vada. Plus, you aren’tmooching. You’re working full time, investing in Pack resources, like sending Vada to preschool; it’s not a handout, Luce. If we’re truly moving forward with merging our lives together, then this is it. You and me, together. We’re a team and that means what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine.”
“You’re getting the raw end of that deal,” she muttered.
