Adonis walked over and lifted me in his arms then carried me to the bathroom. He gently placed me inside the tub that he’d filled with my lavender bath salt and foaming bath from Dr. Teal’s. He disappeared back into the bedroom for a few seconds before he returned wearing his boxers.

He sat on the side of the tub and waited for it to fill then he turned the water off. I slid down, laying my head on the back of the tub with my eyes shut enjoying the feeling of the hot water and letting the Dr. Teal’s do its job. I didn’t even care that my hair was getting wet. It was already ruined at this point.

“The water straight?” he asked.

I nodded and smiled with my eyes still closed. “It’s perfect actually. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“You want to get in with me?”

“Naw, that shit hot as fuck.”

I chuckled, finally peeling my eyes open to look at him.

“It’s not as hot as I usually make it.”

“If I would have made it any hotter, the shit would have boiled you, baby.”

“Shut up and come on.” I lifted my hands out of the water and waved him over.

“Jru, I’m too fuckin’ long for this tub,” he frowned.

“No, you’re not. It can fit us both, baby. Get in.”

“Jruelle…”

“Adonis…” I fired back, angling my head to the side.

He sighed heavily before conceding. He stood and slipped out of his boxers then got in behind me. I turned around to straddle him, lying my head on his chest. His soft hands immediately began to stroke up and down my back.

“You sure you good?” he asked. “I ain’t go too hard did I?”

I shook my head before lifting to look at him.

“It was perfect.” I confessed. “It normally is… uncomfortable, but tonight was just right.”

“Good.” He nodded and kissed me. “When you go to the doctor again?”

“Two weeks. Why?”

“I told you I want to learn about what you dealing with,” he answered. “I’m gon’ do my own research too, but ya doctor will be able to explain things to me in layman’s terms.”

I blushed briefly due to the way he was looking at me and how sweet it was that he was willing to learn about my diagnosis, but I still said, “you don’t have to.”

“Yeah, I do.” He chuckled. “I know every day won’t be a good one for you, love. I want to learn how to help you deal with it.”

I stared into his eyes for a second before I said, “you’re so sweet to me, Adonis. You always have been. I think that’s why it was so easy to fall in love with you.”

“Sweet ain’t exactly an adjective I’d use to describe me, but I’ll always be good to you,” he replied. “Outside of my mama and AP, you the only other person I ever gave a fuck about. I’m glad that I finally got the opportunity to be with you like this.” He pulled me back into him. “I love you too.”

We started to kiss nastily and hungrily for a few seconds.

“You gotta stop Jru because if you wake him up again, you gon’ have to put him back to sleep.”

I smiled against his lips and said, “I think I can handle that.”
