He’d told me how his little brother was hassling him about signing him up for driving school so he could get his license and a new car, but Adonis wasn’t budging, and for good reason. Apollo had a lot of work to do with his behavior at school and making more responsible decisions, but I liked giving him a hard time and being on his brother’s side.

He chuckled. “Yeah, aight. Nigga know he got a lil’ minute until that happens.”

“What about the date with his little friend?” I asked because he’d also told me that he had a little girl he wanted to take out. “Are you going to let him go?”

“Yeah, I’m gon’ set some shit up for ‘em.”

“Good, I’m sure that he’ll be happy about that.” I smiled and sat up since we parked in front of my house. “Thank you for today, Adonis. I enjoyed my food and your company.”

“And my food.” He scoffed playfully causing me to laugh.

“Oh, hush, you wanted to share with me.” I grinned.

“Only because you fine as shit,” he smirked. “Don’t touch that door.”

He hopped out of his Jeep and came around to let me out. Since meeting him, he treated me like I was fine China; he handled me so gently. For him to be such a rugged, street nigga, he was super sweet and sensitive.

He walked me to the door, stopping right in front of it holding me close to his body.

“I enjoyed your company today too.” He said after a few minutes of silence. “I wish the shit wasn’t over so fucking quickly.”

“We were there for two and a half hours.”

“Exactly,” he smiled. “I need forever with you, Jruelle.” His soft hand made its way onto my cheek. “Let me take you out Saturday night.”

I nodded, placing my hand on top of his. “Okay.”

“Damn, that easy?”

I shrugged. “I like spending time with you.”

His smile stretched wider before he leaned in and kissed my lips gently. I’d been kissed before, but I never felt the way I was feeling in that moment. His lips were so soft, and the kiss was so gentle, causing butterflies to swarm my stomach and my body to heat up. His lips lingered for a few seconds before he pulled back. Sadness washed over me immediately because, that quickly, my lips missed his.

“See you later, baby.”

“See you later.” I whispered like an idiot.

I stared into his beautiful, brown eyes for a few more seconds before I finally unlocked the door and went inside because he wasn’t moving until I did obviously. Once I closed the door, I pressed my back into it and just… smiled.

I’d always had a thing for Adonis, but since I made the mistake of getting with Derrick, I didn’t think that anythingwould ever become of us. Our little impromptu date didn’t necessarily mean that we would be anything more than what we were, but I wasn’t one hundred percent mad that I wanted us to. Something inside of me moved with just that one simple kiss.

And surprisingly, I wasn’t opposed to the what ifs when it came to him.

Chapter Thirteen

Adonis.

“Man, hell naw.” I smiled then laughed when AP walked in my room and I noticed him in my mirror.

I’d pulled out some black and white Nike windbreaker shorts with just a plain white tee to go with my Space Jam 11’s, and his ass was wearing the same shit. His shorts were just red and white, and he had on the Cherry 11’s.

“What?”

“Man, you cheesy as hell. Go change, bro.”

“Why?”

“AP, you knew what I was puttin’ on, my nigga, because the shit was on my bed. Fuck you tryna match me for?”
