As soon as we turned into our destination, I saw Jru sit up in my peripheral and look my way.

“Adonis…” she simpered.

Looking her way, I smiled and said, “a nigga be listening and shit, baby.”

“Where are we?” Bre sat up and asked.

“A drive-in movie.” Jru smiled. “You’ll love this.”

I drove up to the entrance to pay for us to get inside. Buddy told me what station to put my shit on for our movie before we pulled in and found our spot close to the screen. I backed in so that we could chill on the bed of the truck then I went to help Jru out while AP helped Bre.

When I let the tailgate down, AP grabbed the chairs that we got for him and his girl then they went to set up a few feet away.I’d told him that he didn’t have to stay with me, but he needed to be close enough for me to keep my eyes on them.

While I got everything set up for me and Jru, I gave her some bread so that her and Bre could go to the concession stands to get whatever snacks and shit that they wanted. I’d bought a mat and an ass of blankets for the back of my truck so that we had cushion. I was just gon’ rock out with some chairs like my brother and Bre, but Zig told me to make the shit more romantic, so I looked up a nice lil’ set up on Cliqued.

By the time I was done, Jru and Bre were coming back. I watched AP walk her to the area they were going to be seated in while he carried their shit, then I helped Jru onto the back of the truck before I climbed up behind her.

“You straight?” I asked once she was settled.

“I am, thank you.” She smiled and looked around before her gaze met mine again. “This is really nice and thoughtful.”

“It ain’t shit.” I smirked, pulling her closer. “Why you acting like you scared of a nigga?”

“I’m not. I just don’t want to crowd your personal space.”

“I wouldn’t have set all this shit up like this if I didn’t want you to lay up with me.” I said and chuckled.

We laid back on the pillows just as the movie got started. I knew she liked that lovey dovey shit, but it put me to sleep, so I chose a movie that had a little of both in it,Don’t Be A Menace. It was more street than romantic, but it was gon’ have to do. Besides, Jru fucked with the classic movies.

Jru put all of the snacks that she got in between us, reminding me that I had something else for her. I loosened my hold then turned to get the candy that I’d grabbed for her. They didn’t sell the shit in stores anymore, but I knew it was her favorite when we were kids.

“You still fuck with these?” I asked, showing her the Butter Finger BB’s.

“Adonis!” she said dramatically, snatching the shit out of my hands. “Where did you find these?”

“Don’t worry about it.” I smirked. “Just know a nigga went through hell and brimstone to find them shits.”

“I bet.” She grinned. “They don’t sell these anymore. I have to order them online when I can find them, but it’s always hit or miss since the manufacturer discontinued them.”

“I’m knowing.” I chuckled. “I was on the phone with the mothafucka’s I grabbed them from letting them know if my shit was late, it was gon’ be hell to pay.”

“Over candy?”

“Yourfavoritecandy? Yes.”

“You’re too sweet.” She blushed then laid back in my arms, ripping the packaging on the candy open before she started to eat them. “I know you loved the blue Air Heads back in the day, so I got you plenty,” she pointed. “I didn’t know if they were still your thing, but I got them.”

“Let me find out you think you know a nigga.” I grinned.

“You’re a really hard person to forget Adonis Gates.”

She settled in my embrace and tuned into the movie, but I was busy watching her pretty ass. She had no idea how unforgettable her ass was too. There were times that I knew I needed to be focused on what the fuck I was doing at the time, but my mind drifted to her.

Always.

Anytime my mind was idle, her ass was running through the shit. That was why I finally decided to press the gas on us. She deserved the world, and I didn’t want another nigga giving the shit to her. I had slept on her, myself, and what could become of us long enough.

After acting like a creep for a little minute, I turned my attention to the movie while stealing glances at my brother here and there. I was cool with him wanting privacy and shit with hisgirl, but I had to make sure his ass wasn’t on no bullshit either. Wasn’t gon’ be no foul play on my watch. I was too young and had too fucking much going on to be an uncle. I also wasn’t in the mood to body her pops for some shit he’d have a legit reason to be mad about.
