“Man, no,” Apollo laughed. “Po’ up, sis.”

“You can’t even drink, so you stay out of it,” I playfully snapped. “And you’re cheating for your brother. I see whose side you’re taking.”

“I’m neutral.”

“Fuck all that,” Adonis waved us off. “You need me to pour you up or…”

“I got it.” I played like I had an attitude when I snatched the bottle up and poured myself the shot. It burned going down so I quickly chased it with some of the ginger ale that I had to drink. Once I’d gotten myself together, I asked, “what’s the answer?”

“Cell Block 4.”

“Figures.” I scoffed. “That doesn’t sound like anything I wouldeverwatch.”

“But we’d watch B.A.P.S?” Adonis laughed as he stood. “I’m gon’ run to the bathroom. I’ll be back.”

Apollo excused himself too claiming that he needed to get in his discord because they had games scheduled. I wasn’t exactly sure what that meant, but I let him go while I got up to clear our trash from the table.

While I did, I noticed that Adonis’s phone kept going off. I ignored it at first, but it continued to ring so I took a glance at the screen and noticed someone named Tina was facetiminghim. I let it continue to ring until she hung up and got ready to get back to what I was doing, but she started to call again. I was tempted to answer the shit because she clearly wasn’t going to stop calling, but he came back in the kitchen just as the phone hung up.

“What you doin’?” he leaned into the counter behind him.

“Cleaning,” I answered. “Your phone’s been ringing.”

“Why didn’t you answer it?”

“Because it’s not my phone.” I rolled my eyes, but he couldn’t see me due to my back being turned to him. “It’s ringing again, you should see what Tina wants.”

“You got an attitude?”

“No.”

“Jru.” He encased me in his arms. “Look at me.”

“No,” I tried to nudge him off. “Go answer your phone.”

“Aight,” he abandoned me to get his phone but came right back, wrapping the free arm around me again. The phone was ringing again, but he decline the FaceTime and called her on a regular call, putting it on speaker.

“Why didn’t you answer the FaceTime? I was trying to show you something,” the woman said when the call connected.

“What you blowing my shit up for, Tina?”

“If you’d answer, you’d know” she whined. “We haven’t seen each other in months. I wanted you to see how much I missed you.”

“I ain’t answering no FaceTime, T.”

“Why?”

“Because I ain’t,” he replied. “I’m with my girl and you causing problems I don’t need.”

“Y-your girl?!” she snapped. “Since when were you in a relationship, nigga? We were just together!”

The vibration of his chuckle traveled up my back. “You just said we ain’t seen each other in months.”

“I lied. We were together a week ago and you know it, nigga!”

“Okay.” He snickered.

“Who is it?” she spat. “Who’s the bitch that got you trying to play me?”
