Chapter Three
Adonis.
“Don G,” the homie, Deek, spoke when I entered the trap spot we had ducked off in Northwood.
I came through to pick up my bread because it was time to reup and I also wanted to see what these niggas had going on. They knew that I didn’t like loitering and shit if no business was going on. There were plenty of spots for that as well as plenty of niggas hustling that allowed it, I wasn’t one of them. I’d never been in trouble with the law, and I wanted to keep the shit that way.
“What’s up, nigga,” we slapped hands. “What y’all on?”
“Shit.” He stepped aside so that I could bypass him. “I got everything set up on the kitchen table.”
By everything, he meant the money that I was counting and the money counter. I didn’t rely too much on the shit, but I ran the bread through before each count to see if the shit was accurate or not. It was something about letting that shit count for me that didn’t sit well. I didn’t want to owe a nigga shit, so I counted every dollar by hand, and I also wasn’t gon’ let none of the niggas in my camp get over on me. If my shit was even a dollar off, they knew I was nutting the fuck up.
My team was small in numbers with only six of us hustling together, but I preferred it that way. It allowed me to be close and hands on with everything, as well as keep my eyes on them. I was an observant ass nigga and caught onto every fucking thing, so there’d be no hesitation when it came to putting one of them down if need be. So far, they’d all proven to be trustworthy. I appreciated that because I didn’t need snakes in my camp.
Ziggy joined Deek and I then we all began counting the bread after firing up a few blunts. My niggas knew that I didn’t really do that smoking together shit. We were all grown men with money. They needed to have they own shit.
Once we were done with the count, we bagged the bread then I took the time to check my notifications. While I was working, I was locked in, so I silenced my phone. AP and the school were the only ones that could get through on my line.
Tina: *two attachments*
Tina was a lil’ broad from Magnolia Trace that I entertained from time to time. I had never really settled down with a hoe because I was locked in and focused on getting my money up to make sure that AP was cool, but I dabbled from time to time when I had some needs that needed to be met.
Tina: Nice and fresh, just for you.
Even though Tina stayed in the hood and danced at Kiss, she wasn’t as slutted out as the other hoes there. She’d only been dancing there for about a year and was doing the shit because she was putting herself through school. I respected the hustle without a doubt, but she knew I was never gon’ wife her. Especially not while the city had the pleasure of seeing everything her ass had to offer. I’d told her ass that several times. Still, that never stopped me from smashing.
I even did shit like eat at her crib and crash there from time to time when I was too tired to bounce, but I was very clear with her ass that shit with us would never go any further. I was out of my mind, so a nigga being able to say he saw my bitch’s pussy the night before would have me serving a life sentence. She’d offered to stop dancing if that meant that I would settle down with her, but I urged her not to because the shit would be in vain. I wasn’t trying to wife anyone.
I tried that shit once after things fell through with Jruelle and got my heart broken. I started dating a girl named Farrah and really loved her ass. We dated for a couple of years, and shit was cool, but by her sophomore year in college, shit was a wrap. Her parents never really fucked with me because it was no secret that I hustled, but they also got in her ear about me having custody of my brother claiming that she wasn’t ready for that kind of responsibility and her focus needed to be on school. I agreed and always encouraged to focus because I had AP regardless, but eventually their voices were louder than mine and we split.
The shit hurt when I found out that she went off and got engaged a few months after that though. The new nigga went to school with her and had common goals because he planned to go to law school too, so it made sense, but I was still a little fucked up because I felt like the shit happened too fast. After that, I decided to lock in and focus on my brother, hustling and getting my barber’s license.
Tina: You’re not going to say anything back.
Me: Not really sure what to say back to pussy pics, baby girl.
Tina: Look at the tattoo, Don.
I scrolled back up to the picture and looked right above her freshly shaven pussy and noticed there was indeed a tattoo right above her pussy. I zoomed in on the picture to see exactly what it was, and the shit readDon G. I shook my head as I chuckled. Tina was wild, and I surely hoped she didn’t think that shit was gon’ mean nothing to me because it didn’t. She was the third female to tatt my name, and I only loved one of them.
Tina: So?
Me: So what, T? What I’m ‘pose to say about that?
Instead of texting back her ass called. I ignored the shit because I wasn’t in the mood to hear no yelling and shit, plus I was still working so she’d have to talk to herself about the shit.
Tina: Wow.
Tina: I don’t even know why I keep trying with you Don.
When I didn’t reply, her ass called again.
“What?” I frowned, answering the call.
“You have an attitude?”
“Fuck you think?” I snapped. “You worrying the shit out of me.”
