“Quit playin’ with me.”

The teachers that were on morning duty had come out so that meant it was time for his ass to get out of my car. I’d brought him earlier than usual because Vado hit me up and asked me to come meet him. I’d rather do the shit early because I had a full day planned at the shop.

“Aight, I’ll see you later,” I said, dapping AP up. “Have a good day. I love you too.”

“Love you too, bro.” He leaned in for a quick brotherly hug. “You thought about what I asked you?”

A few weeks ago, he’d asked me about taking some girl he’d been talking to on a date, but I’d told him to put it on ice for a little. I needed to see who her people were as well as meet with them before he took their child out.

“Yeah, I’ll get around to that sometime this week.”

“Bet. I want to take her out ASAP.”

“Aight, I got you. Stay out of trouble, AP. No ISS, lunch detention, or none of that shit today.”

“Aight, Donny, dang.”

I waited until he got to the door before nodding at the teacher that was standing there before I pulled away, heading towards Vado’s shop. The nigga had been tryna get up with me for a lil’ minute, especially since all the shit went down at the reunion the other week, but I’d been cool on it. He didn’t want to do shit but cry for his bitch ass step son. I wasn’t trying to hear it. We had business to finish up though, so I had no choice but to link with him today.

I spoke to the few niggas that were outside already working once I got to my destination, and Gino once I was inside. When I entered Vado’s office, he was posted behind his desk going through a box. He appeared to be trying to figure some shit out or something because he was super focused.

“What you got goin’ on, old man?” I asked making my presence known.

He jumped a little before he glanced my way then he smiled.

“I got your old.”

He accepted the handshake I offered then I descended into one of the chairs in front of his desk while he went back to doing what he was doing.

“What’s all that?”

“My legacy,” he pushed it toward me, “and your future.”

I stood and began going through the box. There were a bunch of notebooks and files in there. I began flipping through some of them seeing a bunch of names, addresses and numbers. Some had dollar amounts next to them.

“These are all of the contacts you’ll need.” He pointed. “Starting with the suppliers; I’ve been working with…” he pointed, glaring at the page where he was pointing.

“Juan Carlos.” I read the name off.

“Juan Carlos,” he repeated and chuckled, “since I started in this game. Your name isn’t new to him. I’ve told him about you and he’s been to the states a few times to check you out himself…”

“The fuck?” I frowned thinking about some incognito nigga sitting in the shadows watching me.

“He wanted to see the man he’d soon be working with for himself.”

I wanted to blank and pop my shit, but I refrained and made a mental note to be more observant than I already was. I didn’t walk around with my head on constant swivel because I didn’t need to. I wasn’t dropping bodies and shit just because, but niggas knew that I would without a second thought if need be.

“I’ll have a meeting setup for the two of you very soon, then you’ll take over the reins from there. The Colombian Cartel doesn’t like surprises. They’ll need to see me handing things off to you. Not you taking it,” he said, and I nodded. “You have yourown teams assembled for the northern district, but you’ll need to meet with the sou?—”

“I don’t mean to cut you off or no disrespect, but when this is mine, it’s mine. It won’t be a North and South, it will be run as a whole. I know you did that to appease me and ya pussy ass step son, but that’s dead when I take over…” He got ready to say something, but I continued. “I know you don’t want me to dry up that hoe ass niggas income. I’m a man of my word, so I won’t, but he won’t be in charge of shit. He not distro or none of that shit. He gon’ be on the block like the rest of them lil’ niggas, earning his bread.”

Vado nodded and chuckled. “I have to respect that. You know that some of them only have an allegiance to Jack?—”

“Brock.” I corrected.

“Brock,” he nodded while smiling. “So you’ll have to deal with that. Show them that you run things differently than him and even me. Run things with an iron fist witheveryone, and you shouldn’t have any issues gaining their respect.”

“Cool,” I replied as I eyed him.
