“I’m not.” He grinned. “I just so happened to pull this out too.”
“Watch out.” I laughed. “You lyin’ like hell, mothafucka.”
“Great minds just think alike.”
“Think alike my ass. Go change. I don’t want to match yo’ ass.”
“We wearing different colors, bro. Chill,” he laughed. “You scared ya girl gon’ see me and think I look better or something?”
I scoffed playfully. “Imagine some shit like that. I just don’t want to wear the same shit as you. I used to hate when mama did that shit.”
Despite there being an age gap between AP and me, my mother still used to dress us alike when she was able to get us clothes. Especially for holidays and shit. I hated it, but AP always loved the shit because he wanted to be like a nigga.
“Come on, man, we don’t even have time for me to get another fit. We wearing different colors, so I’m not showing you up too much.”
“You wish, nigga.” I laughed, going back to brushing my hair.
I was ready to walk out; I just needed to make sure my hair was straight and put on some cologne. Afte doing that, I pocketed everything I was going to need then we headed out. I opted to take my F-150 for what I had planned.
I didn’t like splurging with my bread and shit, but I had been stupid and bought three cars in the span of five years. I had my Wrangler, which I drove the most, my Camaro that I hardly ever drove because it had a custom paint job and I didn’t need everyone in the city knowing my whereabouts, and the F-150 that I only drove when I had some shit to do.
“Can we go to The Bloom Room before we get there?” AP asked.
Glancing his way, I smirked then turned to go in that direction. I was finally letting him go on his first date, and I was proud to see that he was trying to do shit the right way. We had several conversations about girls and I was constantly dropping knowledge on his lil’ ass about how to treat women, and also which ones to give the princess treatment. I didn’t teach him to ever disrespect women because that wasn’t something I liked to do myself.
After grabbing the flowers, we made our first stop to pick up his little friend. I’d already spoken to her pops beforehandbecause I didn’t want it to be no shit behind my brother taking his daughter out, but I still got out and went to the door with AP.
“Hi, Apollo,” an older woman spoke and smiled once she pulled the door open. I frowned seeing that she was dressed in a short ass silk robe and whatever was underneath it was obviously lace because I could see the shit peeking out. He’d told me that he spoke to her mom a few times, so she knew who he was. “And you must be Adonis?” She extended a hand to me.
“Don.” I replied, accepting the handshake.
“Okay, it’s very nice to meet you, Don. I can see where Apollo gets his good looks from.” Her hand lingered a little longer than I liked so I had to pull my shit from her hold.
“Likewise. Breanna ready?”
“Oh, she should be down in a few,” she looked behind her then back to us. “You two can come in if you’d like.”
I looked at my brother to see what he wanted to do. I’d rather stay my ass right outside because she was already doing more than I cared for her to, but his soft ass wanted to go inside so we did.
She told AP to wait in the living room while she invited me into the kitchen. I saw then that it was gon’ be some shit with her. She poured herself a glass of wine and offered me a drink, but I declined.
“Oh, come on,” she smiled, sashaying her ass around the counter to the side I was on. “One little drink won’t hurt.”
“I’m drivin’.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
She’d inched closer and closer to me, running her hands up my chest. I didn’t know what she was on or what she thought this was, but she had me fucked up.
“It mean I don’t want no fuckin’ drink.” I chuckled and pushed her hands off my chest.
I could tell that she didn’t expect me to do that, but she played it off by grabbing her glass and taking a sip of her wine.
“Do you have a girlfriend, Don?”
“Why?”
“Just curious.”
