Harvest is upon us.

My feelings for this time of year are a double-edged sword. I love it because our hard work pays off. It’s a sense of success that gives me extreme joy.

But then of course, the real work begins with making sure distribution is handled properly. It’s not myfavoritething.

This year, however, I have help.

About a week after Rhiannon’s death, I was called up to the clearing. The forces brought me up there;Motherdid. To tell me something.

I had untapped potential before my eyes.

Lauris is our newCEO, if we believed in corporate titles, which we do not. But still, I have her now, and it’s been a huge help.

It was Rhiannon who came to me in my mind and told me to believe in someone else, the way I was going to believe in her. Lauris has so much knowledge, so much experience from her time as an Outsider. As it turns out, she’s been eager to take on more work around here. She’s loyal, trustworthy, and smart as all hell. The perfect person to take over business operations and the trade exporting. It’s wonderful.

And it means I can focus on production and creation. The shit Ilove.

The harvest festival is happening in only a week, and the entire Expanse is buzzing with excitement. The rest of Darian’s exes are still handling the planning and execution of the whole thing, Gem and Alissa, mainly. Emithel has been commissioned to start painting as a job, which she’s more than excited for. And Kiara is dating Perry. From what I understand, they’re smitten.

The divorce went through a few weeks back, and honestly, it’s been smooth sailing. They’re good girls. And really, bless them for taking some burden off of our shoulders, in their own ways.

My stress is understandable, what with overseeing the Tribe and the lab during our busiest season. But Darian’s stress comes from a place of protection for his family, so you can’t fault the guy. We had a blissful summer, and he’s convinced the forces at work up on the mountain will require further sacrifice for the harvest. He’s had a few dreams about it… And he’s been reading a lot.

Either way, it’s nothing we can’t figure out, as a collective. The three of us, along with the rest of the Regnum, are pretty amazingly equipped to run this place together. It just seems to work, and I love it.

When Rhiannon died, she took the future I thought I wanted with her, leaving me with the future Ihave. Even if I weren’t positive this is how Mother wants things, I would still feel it; crave it in my bones.

Abdiel, Darian, and myself together… We fit. It just works. I sort of always knew it would, but I was afraid before. It took the arrival of a sweet little stray to show me what I have.

I will die to protect them,no matter what. And knowing I won’t be the only one sacrificing gives me more peace than I could have imagined.

I never thought monogamy was necessarily for me, so having two partners is perfect. When I need to get away, to be alone with my thoughts, Darian has Abdiel. And when I need my alone time with either of them, they support that. We make it work as well as we can, knowing it’ll never be perfect.

But the imperfections make me want it that much more. For the first time in twenty-five years, I’m done running.

Speaking of being settled, tonight is a big night. It’s the opening of the Expanse’s first ever restaurant.

Of course, it’s only for us. But we made it, so it’s awesome. And it’s Abdiel’s, which makes it even more special.

He named itThe White Snake; a little cafe-style place. Our construction team spent all summer building it, while Abdiel was working scrupulously on creating dishes and a killer menu, along with hiring a crew. It took a lot of his time and work, a lot of effort in trade to get him everything he needed, but it’s finally done, and the grand opening is tonight.

We’re all very excited.

It’ll be nice to have a chill evening, celebrating Abdiel. We’ve all been working so hard lately. I can’t wait to relax with a drink and some good food, prepared by our little chef.
