“You’ve already helped. You told me what to do and are taking me to my room.”
“Lana, I’m not leaving you no matter what room we’rein. Those stings hurt. If you have an allergic reaction, someone needs to be around to take you to the hospital.”
“Then go get Paige or Scarlett. They’re on the beach.”
“They left to get brunch.”
“Without me?” I whine.
“They said they texted you so you’d know to join them after you were done in the water.”
“Those hoes.”
The elevator pings. “What’s it going to be, Sunshine? A tub with a nice view or me waiting in your room?”
Chapter 19
Grant
She’s in my room and I’m trying not to smile. I’m not happy she’s hurt, but it does give me a chance to be with her and show her I care about her. God, I love seeing her here. I haven’t been able to get her out of my head since the housewarming party.
Her brother isn’t around to stop us from hanging out. It’s been years since I’ve seen him. He didn’t like the idea of his friends dating his sister when we were younger, not that it ever occurred to me—Lana was five years younger. I know he’s protective in general when it comes to his family and friends, but there’s no need to get her brother involved—yet.
Lana doesn’t seem to care if he gives a fuck or not. Besides, I’m not going to do anything except take care of her today. I’m just glad she agreed to let me help her. I want to see if she sees something between us like I do.
She’s sitting on the side of the huge tub with her feet soaking in hot water. Beyond the tub and glass-walled shower there’s a patio door with flowing white curtains that opens to a little balcony overlooking the ocean.
Lana is still in her black one piece. The thought of peeling it off her comes to mind, but I focus on my duty of making her feel better. I get my first aid kit laid out on the marble countertop to get the tweezers. Once I’ve collected them, I go and sit opposite her on the side of the tub.
“Foot, please.” I hold out my hand.
“You really don’t have to do this, Grant.”
“I want to. Come on. Foot, please.”
She reluctantly gives over her foot. I look it over to see if I need to take out anything. There’s one small piece I remove making her hiss.
“Sorry!” I pull back the tweezers. “Did I hurt you?”
She shakes her head. “It just stings.”
“Okay, I think I got the worst of it out. Just keep soaking in the hottest water you can.”
She nods.
“Do you feel funny? Are you swelling up anywhere? Is it hard to breathe? Are you dizzy?”
“Grant.” She looks me in my eyes. “I’m fine. Thank you for helping me.”
“Of course, Sunshine. I’d help you with anything.”
She blushes. It’s so freaking adorable. “I can head back to my room.”
“Absolutely not. I’m going to keep my eye on you. Well, sort of.” I grab the back of my neck. “I’m going to step out so you can take that bath I told you about. You shout for anything you need, though! I’m just in the other room, okay?”
I wait for a response. She nods. I step out of the bathroom and close the door, giving her privacy. It’s a shame she got stung and hurt, but Iamhappy she’s finally trusting me.
I close the bathroom door, a sly smile on my face. Lana is going to be mine.
