“I’m in here, Lennox,” Sutton called out from the living room. She was curled up on the couch with her computer balanced on the arm. I loosened my tie and sat beside her, happy to be in her presence after dealing with Ebony.
“It’s oddly quiet in here,” I remarked.
“I got in nine hours. I’ll finish my last hour tonight. I swear sometimes the day goes by so fast. I look up and you’re home. Tomorrow, I have rehearsal for my next concert so I’m sure the day will drag on and on.”
“It’s always like that. When you have nothing to do, the day is over in a blink and when it’s back to work the day drags its ass along.”
Sutton laughed and I drank in the sound and the look on her face. “Oh, I found four psychologists in the city. I thought we could look through them like you mentioned earlier.”
“Sounds good. Let me get out of these clothes first.”
“How was your day?” She asked.
“It was…interesting.” I didn’t know if I should mention Ebony to her or not. I mulled it over in my head while I took off my suit and set it aside to be dry-cleaned. Sutton followed me into the bedroom and watched intently while I put on a pair of cotton pajama pants and a tank top.
Her innocent brown eyes traced every tattoo on my arms and chest then her gaze slipped lower to my dick print. As much as I wanted to get excited, I knew it was useless.
“Did you sell the property?” She asked, clearing her throat.
“The buyer wants to come look at it again tomorrow with his family.”
“That’s a good sign, right?” She asked, her eyes lighting up.
“It is. Now, hopefully, Ebony and I can land this thing tomorrow.” We made our way to the kitchen and Sutton began taking things out for dinner. She told me about the therapists on her list and where they were located.
While she talked and prepped dinner, I researched each name she threw out. Most of them sounded good but something about the last name she gave me grabbed my attention.
My stomach growled as Sutton sautéed asparagus and shrimp. I looked up from my phone and watched her move around the kitchen effortlessly. She wasn’t trying to be beautiful she just was. She wasn’t trying to catch my eye but I couldn’t look away if my life depended on it. She was everything.
I set my phone down and walked up behind her because I was compelled to. Even knowing I’d get pushed way didn’t stop me. I rested my hands on her hips and she slowed in her pace.
“You look beautiful when you cook.”
“Really?” She laughed and rubbed the backs of my hands.
“Really.” I swallowed a knot in my throat when she turned around to face me. We were so close, we shared space and air. I exhaled. She inhaled. She stared up at me and her eyes fluttered for a split second.
“Lennox,” she called softly.
“Yeah, baby?” I tucked a loose lock of hair behind her ear.
“Can you um…” I braced myself for the crushing pain of her asking me to stop touching her. “Can you…kiss me?” She asked like a scared schoolgirl with a crush. I’d never felt so much relief before in my life.
I dipped my head low and curled my fingers around the back of her slender neck before meeting her lips with mine. I could feel the trepidation in her lips but this time she actually asked for it so even though I was worried, I pushed forward.
I coaxed her tongue out and sucked on it slowly while my fingers slid up the base of her neck and into her silky hair. I wanted to kiss her everywhere. I wanted to taste her pussy on my tongue but I pulled back instead of picking her up and sitting her on the counter to go even further.
Sutton took a second to open her eyes. It was like she was still living in the moment where our lips were connected. I caressed her cheek and she looked at me with so much fucking love in her eyes.
I knew without a doubt that I would do anything in the world to salvage what we had. It was sacred to me.
“That was nice,” she said bringing her fingertips to her lips. “It was more than nice…”
“You were okay with that?” I asked, happily. A smile tugged on the corners of my lips Sutton wore a matching one.
“I was.” She chewed on her bottom lip and fire slid through my veins. She looked so sexy it was painful not to push for more. I was greedy.
“Just…keep doing that, Sutton. Keep letting me know when it’s okay. We’ll make it through this. Whatever it is.” I kissed the back of her hand and a hint of crimson settled on her cheeks.
