“I told you that because I came to find you were cheating on me! How else was I supposed to react? I didn’t want to hear your pathetic lies as to why you cheated or how I made you do it. I gave you everything, Roxie. I would’ve done anything for you. You clearly didn’t love me.”
“Well, if you loved me, you would’ve tried to fix things,” she retorted.
“You know what, we can argue this all day. In the end, it would remain the same. You are a selfish, cheating woman who uses men to get what you want. I can only imagine the number of men you’ve lived with or off of over the years.
Xander told me enough that he remembers you going through them like they’re nothing.
But I’m not here to hash through that. I’m here to talk about my son. ”
“What about him? You can’t believe what that boy says. He’s a lying little shit,” Troy popped in with a sneer.
“You, keep your trap shut. I’ll get to you,” Loki told him with a sneer of his own, then continued. “You dumped him with strangers and then went on an extra-long vacation with this one. Did you honestly believe that if you did, I’d forget about you? If so, you’re wrong.”
“So where is he? In the car? After carrying, raising, and providing for him for twelve years, it’s your turn,” Roxie whined.
“No, he’s not in the car, as if we’d ever bring him back to you. Xander is living with us. He wants nothing to do with you. What we want is to ensure that you’re out of our lives for good,” I informed her before I reached into my purse and brought out the papers I had with me.
“What’s that?” Troy asked as he stood back up. He tried to snatch them, but I gave them to Roxie. She took them reluctantly, then began scanning them.
“What does it say? Give those to me!” Troy snarled at her. Roxie immediately handed them over.
Troy frowned as he read them. I watched his mouth move. He couldn’t seem to read without doing it out loud. His confused expression grew until he finally tossed them on the coffee table before him.
“What the fuck is that shit saying? It’s a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo. What did you do? Print some bullshit off a website and bring it here to scare us into thinking you have some legal case against us?” Troy asked.
“It’s not mumbo-jumbo, and I can guarantee you, it dictates rights and more.
Let me break it down so you two can understand.
Those are papers that Roxie will sign. It says she gives up any right to sue Loki for back child support for Xander.
Her parental rights will be surrendered.
In addition, she will have no contact, visitation, or other rights to him.
His belongings will be surrendered to us today to take to him.
If, at some time in the future, Xander changes his mind and wants a relationship with his mother, it will be supervised only, with no overnights, and without anyone else included, namely any man she is involved with.
Those are the highlights,” I said calmly.
“And you think I’ll just sign those? What do I get for all the pain and suffering I had to go through for that kid? I deserve something!” she cried out.
“If you agree to sign the papers, then Loki won’t take you to court for hiding his child from him, and stealing over half of his son’s childhood from him.
He will not have you pay him child support until Xander is eighteen or request that you pay any other expenses, such as medical insurance, college tuition, a car, clothing, school supplies, vacations, etc.
, for Xander. Nor will you be arrested for child endangerment, abandonment, and whatever else can be thrown at you,” I added with a smirk.
“You think I’m scared of you and your motorcycle club? There’s no way you can get someone to represent you and win a case,” Roxie told Loki smugly.
“Oh, yes, he can. Read the name at the end of the document. The one stating who drew up that legal document?” I prodded her.
Rolling her eyes, Roxie did. “It’s someone named Braelyn Hill, Attorney-at-law. Who is that bitch?”
“That bitch is the one standing in front of you. I’m Braelyn Hill.
Otherwise known as Loki’s old lady. I’m Xander’s new mom.
And if you want to verify my credentials and ability to sue you effectively, this bitch is the lead prosecutor for a district attorney in Georgia.
I can bury you in legal mumbo-jumbo until you’re a hundred.
And if I can make murderers, rapists, and killers fear me, you and this thing won’t even make me have to get out of my pajamas.
” I flashed her my best smile, then let it change to my most intimidating court look. It screamed, Try me and see who loses.
I expected Troy to bluster, pick a fight, and more.
Instead, he sat down and watched as Roxie tried to cry her way out of it.
When it didn’t work, she begged Loki not to do this.
Finally, she made idle threats, mainly to report me and have my law license revoked.
In the end, Troy ordered her to sign it and then give us the kid’s shit.
In less time than it should’ve taken, it was signed, and we were given the pathetic number of things that were Xander's. There were four smallish boxes that they’d thrown into the garage.
We checked his room to be sure nothing was missed.
As the guys loaded them in the SUV, Loki had one more thing to say.
“Roxie, I fooled myself into thinking I loved you, which I realize I never did. I found what true love is when I met this woman right here. But I do want you to know, if you had told me about Xander, I would’ve gladly taken him and raised him.
My parents are overjoyed to have a grandson.
If you had stayed with me, you would’ve wanted for nothing.
Just because I worked for a living didn’t mean I was poor. ”
“What does that mean?” she asked.
“It means that as my parents’ only child, I inherit everything, and as it is, they pay me annually more money than you’ll probably see in your lifetime. Xander will want for nothing, just the way Brae and this baby won’t.” Loki smirked as he finished and touched my belly.
I swore as we drove away, minutes later, we could hear her screams down the street as she jumped up and down on the sidewalk, crying, cursing, and begging him to come back.
I laughed for miles. We’d drive a few hours, eat dinner, and then get a hotel for the night.
I couldn’t wait to get home to our son and the last steps in this affair.
