Linc put the pieces together and didn’t like the picture it made. He knew what it felt like to trust someone and have that trust shattered.

Granted, Linc hadn’t stuck around to hear Asher’s excuses for cheating but a part of him had felt like his family, his bank account, had to do with it.

For some reason knowing what he knew, his heart softened further and a plan started forming. Maybe he could help the omega out and solve his own problem.

“We’ll be fine,” the man said, he must have been all cried out because he suddenly began squirming in Linc’s arms to be let go.

Linc did so, albeit it reluctantly, but that was reason enough to do it; if his idea was going to work, he couldn’t muddy the water with whatever this thing betw…. Linc stopped himself before even finishing the thought. There was nothing.

His alpha simply reacted to a pregnant omega in distress.

“I’m sorry for crying over you,” the omega said, his voice sheepish, clearly realizing that he’d overshared with a complete stranger.

“Damn hormones,” the man tried for laughter but fell short of the mark. His lips twisting into what could only be called a grimace. “I’ll just go freshen up and yeah…” The omega said all this while backing away from Linc.

The further the man got, the louder the voice in his head got. Before he could talk himself out of it Linc said, “Wait.”

The omega froze in his tracks and looked up to meet Linc’s gaze, the look in his eyes wary.

“I have an idea that may solve your problem and one I’m having,” Linc began.

The omega stood straighter, and Linc watched as his hand balled into a fist, the look in his eyes turning from wary to suspicious.

“Not what you’re thinking,” Linc went on to add quickly.

“And what am I thinking?” The omega replied, his voice colder than Linc thought the man would be capable of after the scene he’d just witnessed.

“Sex,” Linc replied bluntly. “And you can settle, this is not a sexual proposition.”

The suspicious look didn’t leave his eyes. “Let’s talk. I think I have an idea on how we can both help each other.”

The man didn’t move, so Linc sighed and did something he wasn’t proud of. “If not for yourself, then do it for your baby.”

He felt like a complete heel when the omega’s shoulders sagged, the fight going out of him.

“If one mention of sex or money for sex comes up, I have pepper spray and I’ll go for your balls with my knee. I work at a bar, I know how to take down a handsy alpha.”

The omega’s warning had Linc smiling. He liked the fire he saw in his eyes. Linc could imagine the man with that look before the waste of space alpha did his best to snuff it out. He really liked it.

“Talk fast,” the omega said, walking closer to Linc, but with enough space that he could get away quickly.

Smart and feisty. Yup, he would do.

Linc had a feeling his papa would be a fan. His idea was looking better and better the more he thought about it.

“So here’s what I was thinking…” Linc began.

Luca

When Luca had stopped crying and realized he was bawling all over a stranger, an alpha stranger no less, he felt mortified, but at the same time, he also felt safe while in the unknown alphas arms.

But he couldn’t have that. Luca had had enough of alphas for now. All they did was take what they wanted and disappear when things didn’t go their way. He’d learned his lesson. It was up to him to take care of himself.

But how? A scared voice that sounded a lot like his whispered.

How was he going to make enough to get a new apartment, pay his medical bills and everything that having a baby entailed? Where did he start from when he was barely making enough to take care of himself, not to mention a baby?
