Luca tightened his arms around Linc’s neck, holding onto him, never wanting the moment to end. The elevator ding as it reached their floor couldn’t penetrate their complete focus on each other. Neither one of them ready to let go.

Luca caught Linc’s lower lip between his teeth. Making the alpha groan, he sank deeper into the kiss, till the elevator doors almost closing again, finally had them stepping back, their breathing heavy. Eyes glazed with lust.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that,” Linc’s fingers traced Luca’s jaw tenderly. Almost reverently. His eyes on Luca smoldered in their intensity. God he loved all that emotion from Lincoln directed towards him. He wanted more.

Luca wanted all of it. Everything the alpha had to give.

Linc

It took considerable effort to separate himself from Luca, but since he didn’t want their first time in an elevator and the cameras recording it, he figured it was best they change locations.

“Come on,” Linc said, taking Luca’s hand in his and smiling at the fact he was allowed to do so. “Let’s talk.”

“And kiss?” Luca asked, his eyes that met Linc’s hopeful. Linc couldn’t help the grin on his face as he looked at Luca, his eyes wide, his kiss bruised lips.

“And kiss,” Lincoln repeated. The smile never leaving his face, the lightness in his limbs making him feel like he could fly. That was how much joy he felt.

When he’d left his office early, he hadn’t expected any of this, yeah he wanted to get eyes on Luca, because he’d felt like something was wrong. Lincoln wasn’t sure what it was, maybe he was tuned in to Luca somehow, he’d always thought it uncanny how in tune his parents were. Or maybe it was just him being a worrywart. He wasn’t sure. But he’d known that he needed to see Luca. And he was fuckin’ glad he listened to his instincts.

Lincoln knew that a man capable of stealing from an omega carrying his child, and leaving him to fend for himself was capable of much worse. He’d known that Laughton would crawl out of whatever hole he’d disappeared into. He was even more certain that he would do so after the background check he ordered on Laughton came back.

The walked to the sofa in the living room hand in hand and sat.

“Okay, so can we do the talking part so we can get back to the kissing? I like the kissing,” Luca pouted playfully.

Linc was loving this side of Luca, he’d seen glimpses of it whenever Luca was on the phone with his papa, and they laughed and joked about things that sometimes went over his head.

He’d been a little jealous of the rapport Luca seemed to have found with his papa, but since then, his dad had sounded upbeat and happy every time they’d spoken, which hadn’t been much since it looked like Lincoln had been replaced in his papa’s life by Luca. But every time he’d spoken to his papa, he’d sung Luca’s praises.

He was excited for the baby, happy that Lincoln had found someone as wonderful as Luca. His papa’s words.

Luca had done exactly what Linc hoped he would do. Given his papa a newjoie de vivre. The best part was, it wasn’t contrived. Linc could tell that Luca truly enjoyed every conversation he’d had with his papa. Linc could see that two of them seemed to be getting something out of the relationship.

But as happy as he’d been, a part of him had been envious. Envious at the relationship forming. He’d decided to give Luca time to get over his last alpha, even if he hated calling someone else Luca’s alpha.

So with that in mind he’d kept his distance, biding his time. When it had gotten more difficult spending time with Luca without kissing him, touching him, Lincoln had gone back to his workaholic ways spending more time in the office—not that it had done him much good.

He could freely admit Luca was never far from his thoughts. And times when he couldn’t help himself, he would send Luca a message under the guise of wanting to speak to him.

“I know you’re probably upset with me about going behind your back and digging into your life, but I was just trying to protect you,” Linc began, wanting to get that out of the way immediately.

Luca’s brow crinkled, and he asked in a baffled tone, “When did you dig into my life?”

Linc looked down where their hands were connected then lifted their joined hands to his, “I had Frank looked into.”

Luca gave him a lopsided grin, “It didn’t even occur to me to be mad. I was surprised for sure, but I wasn’t mad.” It was Luca’s turn to look at their joined hands, not meeting Linc’s eyes. “It means you care,” Luca whispered.

Linc lifted Luca’s face to meet his, “I do. More than I can say.”

Just saying those words out loud, a weight was lifted.

“I didn’t know,” Luca admitted. “I thought you were avoiding me. I thought you were sick of me.”

The look in his omega’s eyes had Lincoln wanting to smack himself. His choices had made Luca feel insecure.

“No, never, just the opposite. I couldn’t sit in the same room as you without wanting to touch you, and kiss you. And tell you how much I enjoyed sharing breakfast with you and coming home and finding you here, wrapped up in a blanket waiting for me.”
