“No,” Luca gasped, his hand flying to cover his mouth. He looked over at Linc, and Linc saw the tears welling up.

“We can leave now, we don’t have to step out of this car,” Linc spoke quickly.

“They came,” Luca whispered. “They came and they want to see me.”

“Yes, love, very much,” Linc said softly.

Luca reached for the door again to open it, and Linc let out a relieved breath. Thank the Gods. Luca’s haste to get out of the car meant he hadn’t royally screwed up.

“Hold on babe, let me get us closer,” Linc said.

He put the car in drive and moved closer to the house. Luca didn’t waste any time, and neither did his parents, who came down the stairs and paused at the bottom.

It seemed they were just as nervous and excited as Luca was. Linc got out of the car quickly to help Luca out but he needn’t have bothered because Luca, in his excitement, got out of the car without Lincoln’s help, even as pregnant as he was.

Linc heard a gasp from where Luca’s parents stood, as they took in their son’s pregnant body.

Luca froze, then looked up at Linc for reassurance. His face filled with such yearning Linc took Luca’s hand and squeezed.

“Daddy, Papa,” Luca whispered, taking a step forward.

Linc watched as Luca’s parents started moving towards Luca again, arms wide open. Luca stood frozen saying Daddy and Papa, over and over, even when his parents surrounded him in a hug, which Linc happily stepped aside for.

The hugging and tears had Linc smiling, and maybe tearing up a little. Both Luca and his parents were apologizing to each other, between hugs and kisses.

Linc’s papa walked up to his side, and patted him on his arm, “You did good son, real good.”

“Yeah?” Luca prompted.

His papa wrapped his hands around Linc’s waist and Linc put his hand around his papa’s shoulder in a side hug.

“Yeah, Son, your dad would be so proud of you, and so happy for you,” his papa said in a choked voice. But when Linc looked at his papa’s face, he was smiling.

“Love you, Papa,” Linc said, then place a kiss on his papa’s cheek.

“Love you, Son,” his papa replied, tapping Linc’s cheeks.

His papa then faced the happy family reunion, “Who’s ready for brunch?”

That got a bunch of yeses, and Luca walking up to Linc. His omega leaned into Linc’s body, and raised his head and puckered his lips, Linc happily obliged and placed a tender kiss on Luca’s lips.

“Love you,” Luca whispered, their lips at touching distance, his eyes holding Linc’s. “So much.”

Linc was humbled by the look in Luca’s eyes, and he knew he would do everything in his power to make sure that look never faded.

Lincoln had believed he loved Asher, and he probably had, but it was nothing close to what he felt for Luca. He had never felt this closeness with another human. Like his very existence was tethered to theirs. Their happiness, their joy, his reason for being.

Asher’s betrayal had hurt his pride and Lincoln had gotten over it, but he knew Luca was his reason for being. And Lincoln didn’t even want to fathom his life without him.

His arms tightened around Luca, “Love you too, baby. Forever and always.”

“I’m hungry,” Luca said, his lips stuck out in a pout.

“Come on, let’s go join the parents before they send out a search party.”

Hand in hand they walked into the house, to their family, almost complete but for their little girl. Who would now have two sets of doting grandparents.
