“Please, a month and I’ll come up with the rent,” Luca begged, but his pleading fell on deaf ears.

“Units already rented. Nothing I can do. Told you something would have to be done,” his landlord replied, his voice sounding unconcerned. Clearly, it was Luca’s problem. Luca tried to get more words in but was met with a dial tone.

Apparently, that was that. The man was done with the conversation.

Luca felt the wail building in his chest and clenched his hand in a fist to put in his mouth to stop the sound coming out.

He was scared. Absolutely terrified. Right now he had no home, and he would bet what little belongings he had, had been scavenged by the vultures in his building.

He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to do now. He had nowhere to go once he left Riley and Grayson’s.

Luca considered asking Riley for a place to stay, but he couldn’t impose on his friend the first day of his marriage. He couldn’t become a burden to those around him. But he was running out of options. And with only about two hundred dollars to his name, money too.

Luca was aware that the money in his account and the twelve dollars in his wallet wouldn’t get him very far. He tried thinking of his options but realized he had none.

“Fuck you, Frankie. Fuck you very much,” Luca cursed and angrily wiped the tears from his cheeks that seemed to be coming non-stop.

This was not how it should have gone. It just wasn’t. All he’d done was fallen in love. He hadn’t hurt anyone. So why was this happening to him?

He wiped his cheeks angrily. He was sick of crying, he’d cried too many tears over an alpha that had probably forgotten his name.

He just needed to regroup. Right?

Something good would happen, it had to… didn’t it?

Luca was trying his best to hold on to his optimism but current life events were doing their best to beat it out of him.

“I think it’s winning,” Luca muttered to himself. “Great not only am I homeless, pregnant and alone, but I’m also losing my mind, talking to myself.”

Wasn’t that the first sign of madness? He was pretty sure it was.

“I screwed up, Papa. I really screwed up and I don’t know what to do?” Luca sobbed, talking to his papa like he used to even though he wasn’t there to hear him.

Luca placed his hands on his bump, “We’ll be okay little one, I promise. I’ll figure it out somehow. Daddy will figure something out.”

Luca had to figure it out, not just for himself but for his baby. It wasn’t just about him anymore.

He sank to the floor, not caring about his clothes. It would be just one more thing on the list of things he couldn’t do right. And honestly, at this point, he just didn’t care. He had so much on his mind. He wasn’t even sure where to start.

He figured he could have himself a good cry, then freshen up and make his excuses to leave because Luca was all partied out.

Because he was having a shit day didn’t mean he had to ruin Riley’s. So he would feel sorry for himself a little longer then go and smile for his friend. He sighed again and slouched into the wall. A part of him hoping he would disappear, when he heard it.

“Fuck,” Someone swore from somewhere else in the huge backyard, alerting him to the fact he wasn’t alone.

“Who’s there?” Luca called out.

He didn’t get an answer, and for a second he considered getting up to check. But he couldn’t bring himself to expend the energy.

“Don’t mind the weeping omega in the corner,” Luca called out. “I’ll be out of here in a moment and you can have the place to yourself.”

Luca wasn’t sure why he’d even said those words, but he started to get up off the floor when a pair of dress shoes appeared in front of him and an arm reached out to help him up.

Linc

Linc had needed air. All the happy couples in the room had him feeling a bit stifled. He knew it wasn’t supposed to be so, but he couldn’t help the bite of envy nipping at his heels seeing his friends have what he wanted. He didn’t wish that they were any less happy, he just couldn’t help but wonder when it would be his turn... if it would ever be.
