“I’m amazed the husband’s still breathing.”

“Me too. I just can’t wrap my head around the stupidity. What was he thinking? You borrow someone else’s car, mess it up that bad, and don’t even try to clean it? Then let it sit and bake for three days under a hot June sun? It’s so irresponsible.”

“The fucking audacity is what’s getting me.”

“Same.”

“Does Erin need help?”

He was such a sweetheart, this man. “She won’t turn you down if you come. She’s letting things soak now. But hey, I can make lunch and feed you, if you want to do a cleaning party.”

“Sold. I’m just at the house and kind of bumming around at loose ends. Be there in twenty minutes.”

“Alrighty.” I hung up, grinning. This one sure was a keeper. I went to the door and poked my head out enough to yell, “Erin!”

From the far side of the car, I heard a “What!”

“Gage is coming over to help you clean out the car!”

She popped over the top of the car, eyes wide. “How’d you convince him to do that?”

“He actually volunteered. Said he was at loose ends, and it sounded like you needed help.”

“Awww. Bro, that’s so sweet.”

“I know.” Also on par with what I’d seen of the man’s character, which was excellent.

“Marry him,” she commanded. “Men who can clean are sexy.”

I laughed. “I might, at that. Anyway, get ready, he’ll be here in a few minutes.”

I better get my cooking chops out and make this man a damn fine meal. He’d have certainly earned it.

Zar: Anyone heard from Asher?

Gage: He’s shopping with Logan’s sis and grandma, why

Zar: Oh, that explains it. He pays no attention to his phone when shopping

Zar: Wait

Zar: Was he swapping Pinterest boards with them?

Gage: Logan says yeah, why

Zar: Shit. Will I get him back before end of day?

Gage: Now why are you asking questions you already know the answer to

Zar: But I had fun plans!

Gage: So sorry do play again

Monday at the bar felt absolutely calm in comparison to the storm this weekend had been. Sunday had been quieter, certainly, even though I’d been somehow roped into cleaning Erin’s car with her and Gage. That had proven fun, actually, despite us gagging from the smell. We’d teased each other and tried out pranks while cleaning. Erin had been vocal about liking my boyfriend, which was great. Not that I’d expected anything different. Gage was definitely charming.
